Chapter 5: Fighting and betting, eh?

1391 Words
"Mwo? ", Hwa Sung tore herself from her sleeping position in bed. She rubbed her eyes groggily as she took a sitting stance. She glanced at the clock. It read: 3:39am. " Sh*t, I'm late", she cried out as she ran into the bathroom. ################################ Everyone was on the bus and Jung was beginning to get impatient. He checked his watch. The time read: 7:23am. Almost as if to piss Jung more, the bus jerked. After a tedious journey which seemed like hours, the bus finally stopped. Jung was seriously pissed. No, he did not have a fight with his parents or siblings ( or other related theories). He just couldn't figure out who the kid with the weird eyes was. They just looked menacing, at the same time inviting. The golden specks in the deep black eyes somehow reminded him of the sun. They just sort of come up in his dreams. If only he could see them once. He'd ask someone. The rest of the g**g waited for Jung patiently. It was a daily thing to always walk together. The first thing Jung noticed was Talahai was not among the guys. He walked to where he was waited for and they headed inside. " Yo, guys, is there anyone in this school with golden coloured eyes? ". Jung immediately noticed Taehyung trembling. " No, why?", it was Man Bok who answered. " Oh, nothing". " You sick?", he asked Taehyung. " M..me, no!". " Where's your brother?" " Had some stuff to do. You know, the usual", and quickly ran off into the hallway. Well, that was strange, he thought. He'll definitely check into it. They had the same class, luckily. Miss Choi was impatiently waiting for the class to settle down. Jung immediately spotted Hwa Sung and sat down. " Hey" " Oh, it's you again" was her response. " Actually, I'm.....", he was interrupted, ".......Hush, the teacher has something to say". He was actually going to apologize for interrupting her convo with Talahai. " Settle down class, I have a very important announcement to make. Since this is your last year here, we have decided to go to Busan". Everyone was very excited about the trip. It was easy to tell by their facial expressions. Well, all except for one. Hwa Sung was at her seat with a blank expression on her face. She definitely did not want to go there. No way. " Seonsaengnim, must we go to Busan? I heard of robberies on the highroad". She discreetly gave Taehyung a look, hoping no one saw. But Jung saw alright. " Ne, Seonsaengnim, I heard Suwan is much more beautiful around this time of the year", Taehyung said. " We have decided to go to Busan and we've already made all the arrangements ". What are they hiding? Jung thought he saw a look of panic flash in her eyes. " Anyway, the trip is this Friday and I hope you all prepare. Now, today's topic is on.................................................." ################################ RING! Finally, Jung thought. It was lunch break. He had Hwa Sung in almost all his classes. Who knew she was into AP trigonometry? He looked up to find half of the class gone. He dashed out and headed straight towards the cafeteria. He sat at the usual table with Man Bok, Talahai and Taehyung. The twins were arguing about something and seemed to drag Man Bok into their bickering. Probably one of their idiotic debates. " What's going on?". Man Bok answered, " They want to know, which tastes better: Fanta orange or Fanta lemon?". Yep, idiotic. He looked at them like, seriously. Taehyung looked back at him sheepishly, then suddenly broke into a grin. He motioned towards someone to come to their table. Jung followed his line of vision and saw Hwa Sung walking towards them, alone. " Hi", Hwa Sung spoke first. " Hey, how're you doing?", Taehyung said, breaking a sweat. Yeah, he was that nervous. Hwa Sung narrowed her eyes at him, " Just get straight to the point. What do you want?", she snapped. " Looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed". Talahai just couldn't keep his mouth shut. One glare showed him his place. " Aw, is little Taltal afraid of a little girl?" They all turned to see Jun Ho and his minions. Talahai's jaw clenched. " What do you want? ", Taehyung asked. " I just wanted to remind you of our bet", Jun Ho sneered. What bet?, both Hwa Sung and Jung looked puzzled. " How could I forget?" was Taehyung's simple reply. Jun Ho left with his minions tailing right behind him. He was just about to ask when Hwa Sung beat him to it. " What's all this about a bet? ". " That pabo(1) got me so angry I may not have said he was so weak even a girl could beat him black and blue and we made a bet on that and......" " Let me guess, that's exactly why you need my help ". " Well, yes. So....what do you say?". " Aniyo(2)". " Pretty please, with sugar on it". " I said no". " I'll do half your share of work for one week". What work? , Jung wanted to ask. " Um, let me think....... still a no" "2 weeks". " Fine, sometimes I just hate you ", she finally caved in as she bit into her apple. Note to self: Keep apples around. " Aw, saranghaeyo(3)". ################################ THE NEXT DAY Jung didn't follow to the fighting scene, but he sure did get a vague description of Hwa Sung's fighting skill when Jun Ho came to school the next day looking like an elephant stepped on him, after he had been run over by a bus multiple times. He took another mental note: Don't get on Hwa Sung's bad side. " What happened to him?", he whisper-asked Hwa Sung. " Just a matter of a bet taken care of. ", she whispered back. " Yah, but I did not want you to practically m******e the guy", Taehyung said. " I kept my end of the bargain, now you keep yours", she shrugged. " What job exactly?", Jung couldn't help but ask. " Oh, just my job and he was to take my shift for 2 weeks", she said as she shifted uncomfortably. This, he took, as well as the fact she didn't look at his eyes, as a sign of lying. He didn't read psychology books for nothing. " O...kay", he would get to the bottom of it later. " Watch this", she walked towards Jun Ho and leaned to touch him. Jun Ho flinched at the contact. " Aww, is little JunJun afraid of a little girl?" Talahai said, mimicking Jun's earlier words. Jun Ho scowled. " Got to go, bye". Hwa Sung looked at her watch then proceeded to leave, but before she could move an inch, she was shoved against a locker. "What the f**k?", she swore. " It's you again?!!", she looked up to see Nam Young, glaring at her. Nam Young looked like she could murder anyone. She was red all over and her nostrils flared up. Looking at Nam Young, Hwa Sung couldn't help but chuckle, " Woah, you should definitely get a part in a vampire movie. You look like you've been deprived of blood". Jung chuckled inwardly. That girl's got sass alright: " Y..y..y..you!!!" "Are you a stammerer?" "Y..y...you..!!!" "Or are you too stupid to say anything else". "How dare you?!!" "Finally, some actual words. You know, I was getting tired of hearing the same word all over again". By this time, Man Bok was rolling with laughter. Neither of the twins could hold theirs either. Nam Young glared at them, but Man Bok still couldn't hold it. "WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?" "Just leave me alone. Remember my first warning? Take this as Number 2". Angry and unable to do anything within the school walls, Nam Young walked away. " Oh wait, ", Nam Young turned around, " the zoo called and they want you back. What's that? Oh! Never mind, they changed their minds. They don't want you back. Oh, and one more thing, they asked me to give you directions to hell, where you belong". Nam Young was practically fuming and stormed away. " See ya tomorrow ", Hwa Sung waved everyone, who was gaping with their jaws on the ground. " Well, that just happened", Talahai broke the silence, and the tension too. Footnote: 1: means idiot 2: means no 3: means I love you
