Chapter 10

It was scary and weird, but I was certain that I fell in love with Damon Smith in just five days. And even though he'd tried to dispel my doubts, it still scared me. It seemed so unreal to me. As so often, I was sitting on a bench in the playground and writing in my diary. About how much I missed Damon even though we drove to school together and only broke up before class. Which must have been four hours ago. Four damn hours without him! About how much he fascinated me and about our deal. He had a month to conquer me, but I had to admit that he already had. Damned. I rarely got involved with people, most of them pushed me and wallowed in solitude and when I did let someone get close to me, it sometimes took months to years. When I came into Wilhelmine's care at the age of six, I didn't accept her. It wasn't until I was eight that I dared to pour out my heart to her, have real conversations with her, and allow her to approach me. I give her credit for persevering and persevering. Now, however, Damon came. And he had conquered my heart after five days. After my mother's instruction, I hadn't let anyone near me that quickly. Actually, I had generally only trusted Wilhelmine since then. And then a guy came running and did this to me. I quietly took in the whispers. They talked about Damon and me. They, too, wondered how it was possible for a guy like him to find something in someone like me. "What are you thinking about, princess?" I squeak softly. "Damon you spat! Don't scare me like that!" Damon responded by resting his chin on my head and pulling me against him with a growl. I wish I wasn't sitting with my back to him so I could look into those beautiful blue eyes. He seemed to feel the same way because he turned me over and placed my legs on either side of him. It was a bit cramped on this bench and it was kind of embarrassing to sit on his lap like that, but I still didn't want to give up. "You're too good to be true," he breathed. I laughed softly. "Do not say something like that. It's not true" I was about to continue talking when a voice in German interrupted me. "Hey, there's our nerd. Almost seems like you let someone get close to you. Is he good in bed? You never wanted to talk to me." My eyes searched for the person speaking and I pushed Damon abruptly away from me. He growled softly and pulled me back to him. I was still staring at the crowd. There! That was Tom Steiner. I didn't really know him, he just used to go to my school in Germany, the question was: why was he here? And what did he want from me? "Tom?" I asked and he gave a mock laugh as he walked towards me. "So you can talk after all? Unbelievable." I frowned. "What are you doing here and what do you want from me?" "What do I want from you? I thought I made that clear enough for you back then. don't you remember? The party? You? You... you were drunk. We... You let me hug you! And I swore to you that you would be mine. After that you didn't remember it anymore, you didn't know who I was anymore and you didn't even look at me. But now I'm here! With you! And I won't give up until you're mine" "I hate not understanding you guys," Damon gasped in my ear, struggling to contain his anger. "Who is this fellow and how do you know him, Elise? And what the heck is he talking about?" Damon was on the verge of freaking out. His hand clawed deep into my shoulder and I whimpered slightly in pain. He immediately mumbled a soft 'sorry' in my ear. "What do you want here, Tom? And what are you talking about? Of course I can speak. Besides that! I won't be yours! I have a..." at first I hesitated. Should I call Damon my "friend" now. Anyway, I had already done it. Tom looked petrified. "You're joking, right? I'm coming to Canada just for you and then this..." I was so damn confused. Tom Steiner. His name. That was all I knew about him and the rest was unknown to me. So I didn't understand what he was getting at. In Germany I went to a party once... when I was sixteen, but all the alcohol and the crowds weren't really my thing, even though I admittedly got drunk. It was possible that Tom and I had hugged, but as far as I knew youngsters didn't make such a big deal out of it. To be honest, I was just confused. "Tom, I just know your name. Are you sure you're okay? Why are you following me to Canada?" "Because I LOVE you!" Even Damon understood that desperate cry. He growled loudly. "I warn you! Just look at Elise one more time and I'll kill you. What do you actually think of? She's MINE" he growled. He pushed me behind his back and started to attack Tom. "Damon, leave it. Please! Don't let your aggressive side get the better of you. Do it for me" I begged. Damon tried to pull away from me, but I pulled him towards me. And looked deep into his eyes. I felt that the blue had become darker and more aggressive. "Chill out. He doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is you and me. Just the two of us. Ok?” He looked at me. With deep eyes. “I'm so angry” he growled and I put my hand in his hair. "I know. look deep into my eyes I'm here. I am with you and not with him" He nodded in a trance as he pushed a strand of hair away from my face. Out of the corner of my eye I caught a glimpse of his buddy who had complimented him on the first day of school on being his 'mate'. Damned. I forgot to google the word! "Elise!" Damon whispered in my ear. I nodded. "He's staring at you. He's not allowed to stare at you. Only I should be allowed to do that. Please let me go to him and make him understand that you belong to me." Through clenched teeth, Damon made his request. "No. You won't hit him. I can tell myself what's up. Do what you have to do to calm yourself, but don't go to him. Don't hit him or yell at him, okay?" "Can I really do everything?" he asked and I nodded. Bam. His lips were already on mine. It felt good and I knew I would never get enough of it. Damon hugged me. The surrounding students seemed indifferent to him. His hand ruffled my hair while mine rested on his muscular chest. Carefully and tenderly I tried to return the kiss. I was so incredibly concerned and scared that I would do something wrong. With our first kiss I hadn't really thought about what I was doing, with the second I had let him guide me completely, but now I was almost on my own. As if reading my mind, he pushed me away and breathed heavily. "You are so perfect. Do you know that? Where did you learn to kiss like that? Please don't say with anyone else!" I chuckled softly. "You were my first kiss" I confessed and his eyes lit up. "You don't know how happy that makes me. The thought of another boy making your heart beat faster... That it's another belonged!" He shuddered slightly. "I can not believe it! Elise. What was that?" "Tom you spat. Now leave me alone. I don't understand what your problem is anyway. We don't even know each other!" "Oh, and you're telling me that after a few days you know him well enough to kiss him? Hell, we've been in the same class for twelve years and you've never really spoken to me. It hurt me! I just wanted your love." I looked at him coolly. I had no pity. He just had to imagine it anyway. "Listen to me Tom. It will be best for everyone if you forget me. I'm happy and I won't let anyone steal my happiness. It's the first time I'm really happy. I don't know what you know about me, but my life hasn't been easy. I don't mean to be a crybaby, but when you lose both of your significant others when you're a little kid, it's hard for you to let anyone get close to you. Please live your life and be happy. But not with me" With those last words, I turned and grabbed Damon's arm and pulled him behind me. On the way I picked up my diary from the bank. "Princess?" I sighed. "Are you mad?" I sighed again. "Yes. But not on you but on this Vollhorst" "What does he want from you? what did he say to you I did not understand it. Damn, he was talking about love! And he was staring at you so longingly! It's like he wished you were in his arms like that! that you kiss him. s**t, I want to kill him! Elise. Tell me what he told you!" I sighed and stared into Damon's beautiful eyes. "You won't like it," I muttered, ready to smack myself in the forehead. What if he didn't care at all? Maybe it was all about his ego anyway? If so, I would not only be terribly hurt, I would also be ashamed! Because I was a person with a huge ego! If anyone hurt me or insulted me, it hit me. Of course, but I acted like I didn't care what these people thought of me because I didn't care about them. But it was a kind of self-protection. You didn't want to allow yourself to be hurt and you didn't want to show yourself that weakness. "I have the same feeling," Damon growled loudly, tearing me out of my thoughts. "Let's clear this up after school. If you like, I can come to you?" I suggested. If he refused now, I would like to sink into the ground. He grinned. "I wanted you to come to me anyway, so that's perfect." I laughed and took his arm. "Let's go to class" "I'll walk you out the door!!!" As always, totally motivated and eager, Damon stared at me. Giggling and inexplicably brave, I reached out and planted a light kiss on his cheek.
