Chapter 4: I Will Always Love You

1882 Words
Amelia I can feel I am lying on a comfortable bed. I don't even remember going to sleep. Then everything comes back to me. I opened my eyes and looked around. I look down and see I am wearing a very large t-shirt. Where the hell am I? “Welcome back Amee,” Callie says in my mind. “Where are we, Callie?” I reply to her, in my mind. “We are in the cave with the man that saved us. He got a witch he trusted to heal us,” Callie answers. “Do you know who he is yet? And why is he being so kind to us?” “You will soon know. But first I need to speak to you about something,” she says, and I immediately get a bad feeling. “Wait… why did a witch need to heal us? We were just tired,” I say, and she whimpers softly in my mind. “Callie… what is going on?” “Our pup is gone, Amee. I am so sorry I couldn't protect him. When Bruno tackled us, he kicked me in my stomach, before I got the upper hand,” Callie says and gives out a mournful whimper. “No! It can't be. My pup…" For the second time today, it feels like someone ripped my heart out of my chest. Why is everything going so wrong? This was supposed to be a happy day for me. Not only did Cruz break my heart, he took the only thing I had left to love from me too. Wasn't rejecting me enough for him? “Are you sure the pup is gone?” I asked and couldn't help the tears that were falling down my face as I clutched my stomach. “Yes, the witch healed us already and cleaned your body. That man was with us through it all. He is right outside, waiting for me to let him know when he can come in. He gave me some time to explain to you. I didn't want you to blame him when this was all my fault,” Callie says. “No, this is not your fault, Callie. This is all because of Cruz and Bruno. I will kill them just like they killed our pup,” I say with determination and she growls her agreement. “I will always love you, my little pup. I promise I will make him pay.” I say softly and clutch my stomach. I will turn this grief I am feeling into the fuel I need to avenge my pup. He deserved so much better. How could his own father kill him? What kind of man did the Moon Goddess pair me with? I sit and hug my knees and cry until my tears turn into dry sobs. Feeling sorry for myself won't bring my pup back. Vengeance won't bring him back either, but it will heal my broken heart just a bit. That's all I can ask for now. Just a little bit of peace for my shattered heart. “Can you ask him to come in? I would like to thank him for helping us,” I tell Callie. “Sure babe,” she answers. A few minutes later, the room door opens, and the man walks in. He is dressed in black cargo pants and a black polo neck sweater, which does nothing to hide his toned, muscular body. His build is similar to Cruz, but he is a little taller and bulkier. And he is wearing that mask again. “Are you feeling any better?” he asks me as he walks over and sits down on the chair next to the bed. I look at him and noticed the Milano crest on his mask again. So, my eyes weren't playing tricks on me. Who is this man? “I am, thanks to you. Thank you for saving me and for getting someone to heal me,” I say and he nods. “I am glad you are okay. I am truly sorry about your pup. By the time I realized you were pregnant, you were already bleeding. My wolf Jasper heard when his heartbeat faded. If I had known earlier, I would have acted quicker. I thought you passed out from exhaustion. But your wolf, Callie, explained everything to me,” he says, and I give him a sad smile. “Thank you for your kind words. But there was nothing you could have done. You have already done more than enough for me. I don't mean to be a bother, so as soon as I feel stronger, I will leave,” I say. “You don't need to do that. Just think of this as your home. You are no bother at all. It was my honor to help you.” He answers, making me frown. “Have we met before?” I ask and he smiles. “Yes, but not formally,” he answers. “Are you going to tell me who you are? Or are we going to continue to go around in circles?” I ask and he chuckles. His laugh is such a warm sound that vibrates deep in me. “Ever the warrior,” he says, and I shrug. He clearly knows me, but how? “Will you please take off the mask and tell me who you are, and why you have the Milano crest on your mask?” I say, and he lifts his hand and touches the crest and sighs. “Promise me that you won't freak out?” he says and I nod. “I will try.” I answer. He lifts his hand and takes off his mask and I let out a growl and move to get up. “Cruz?” I growl. What the f**k is this bastard doing here? I will f*****g kill him. “I am not Cruz, my name is Kai Milano. Cruz is my twin brother,” he answers and I frown. “Twins? Why didn't I know about this?” I ask in shock. “Yeah, I know it’s a shock. Everyone was told that I died when my mother was in labor. My father asked the pack to never mention it, because it was too painful for my mother to talk about,” he answers. He doesn't sound like Cruz, his voice is a bit deeper and his build is much bigger. Wow, I didn't know he had a twin. They do look identical though. “So why did you help me? And why are you living here and not in the pack?” I ask. “Isn't it obvious why I helped you, Amelia? And I was exiled from the pack, because there can only be one Alpha heir,” He answers. “That is bullshit. There are many packs run by more than one Alpha,” I say, feeling very angry for what they did to him. “True, but my father didn't see it like that,” he answers and shrugs. “Why do you seem so okay with being exiled?” I ask. “I made peace with it. I know who I am and what path I have to take.” “I feel like there is more to your story. And I still don’t understand why you helped me and how you know my name.” I say feeling very confused. “There is, but why wouldn't I save my mate from danger?” he says. What the f**k? “Mate? No, it can't be. Cruz is my mate, or at least he was. I can't even catch your scent,” I say, and he smiles softly. “That’s because I didn't want you to,” he answers, and gets up and walks over to a cabinet at the far end of the room. I got up from the bed and watched him. What is he doing? He takes out a bottle, and pours himself a shot and drinks it. He puts the bottle back, and then turns back to me and walks over. The closer he gets, the more attuned I am to every movement he makes. His strides are so powerful and kind of sexy. He stops in front of me and cups my cheek. I feel a tingle where our skin touches and I finally get a whiff of his scent. Then it hits me like a ton of bricks, and I stumble slightly. “Mate?” I say and he smiles and nods. “How can he be our mate?” I ask Callie. “They are twins. We must be mated to both of them. And he is even yummier than Cruz. You got a look at those abs, and did you see the size of...” she purrred in my head, but I cut her off. “Callie!” I chastised her. He chuckles and I look up into his eyes. “Did he just hear us?” Callie asks me. “I did,” he answers and I gasp. “But how? We can't mind-link yet. And why didn’t I recognize you as my mate?” I ask. “Let’s just say I have certain abilities. I can hear and connect to anyone’s wolf if I want to. As for my scent, I mask it, so I can move around freely. I have two potions that were given to me by a light witch to help with that. One to mask my scent, and one to counteract it.” “But why would you have to mask your scent?” I ask. “Cruz and my father don't know that I am still alive. And I would like to keep it that way until the time is right,” he says. His hand is still on my cheek and has been this entire time. I can't deny that it feels good. These tingles I feel are addicting, but I have to snap out of it. “You can reject me now, it's okay. I promise I won't tell anyone your secret. I will leave and find somewhere else to stay, and never bother you again,” I say, and step back, away from him. He looks at me and frowns and takes a step towards me again. “Why would I reject you? You are my mate.” “You don't care that I am an Omega?” I ask. “It wouldn't matter to me who or what you are. You are my Goddess-given mate and I will never give you up. But I know exactly who you are, Amelia Savano,” he says with a smirk. “How do you know my real name? Did you hear me reject Cruz?” “I did, and that was a damn good show. But I have known exactly who you are and who your parents were, all my life. If it wasn't for Roman Savano, I would've died when I was a baby,” he says, and my eyes widen. “Please tell me how you knew my father,” I say. I was not expecting this. Not even Cruz knew the truth about me and my family.
