Sam’s pov
The girl started to seize like she was levitating, then it stopped and she laid there then she got up. When I looked into her eyes they were not human anymore. Her eyes were poping out of her head, like she was a zombie. I ran out of school as fast as I could, I didn’t have time to look for anyone that I knew.
I ran to sages locker I knew her combo and I grabbed her keys to her car. I went outside it was crazy everyone running to their cars trying to escape all of the people who have turned. I went to the car and stuck the key in the ignition and started the car. I put the car in drive and left the school parking lot, I went straight to my house. I got to my house hoping that my grandmother was okay.
I went in the door and went upstairs to her room. I opened her door and she was lying in her bed.
“Grandma,” I said trying to wake her up.
“Grandma,” I said again.
She didn’t answer me. Oh god no I tried to feel for her breath but nothing. My grandmother last in her sleep, at least she pasted away peacefully.
I started walking away when I heard something in the bathroom. I went to the bathroom door and opened it.
“Sage what are you doing here,” I said while jumping in the air.
Sage turned around.
“I had nowhere else to go my parents turned into one of them,” Sage said while crying.
“Oh Sage I am super sorry,” I said while hugging her.
“It’s okay Sam,” Sage said.
“Hey I am super sorry that I took your car from the school parking lot,” I said.
“It’s okay, I caught a ride with Joe anyway, we wanted to get out of there as fast as we could,” Sage said with more emotion in her voice and face.
“Yeah that’s how I was I needed to get out of there as fast as I could before anything else happened,” I said.
“So is everything okay here,” Sage said.
“No my grandmother passed away, I never got it say goodbye to her,” I said getting emotional.
“I’m so sorry Sam,” Sage said.
“It’s okay, you know we should go see if there is any survivors, and we should go bury my grandmother so she can be with my grandfather,” I said.
“Yeah, you’re right we should try and save as many people that we can,” Sage said with a little excitement in her voice.
“Well first let’s bury my grandmother,” I said.
Sage nodded her head in agreement. We wanted to get to my grandmothers room to got bury her, but she wasn’t in her bed where I last seen her.
“I swear she was just here,” I said.
Then something moved in my grandmother’s closet.
“What was that,” Sage said.
“I have no clue,” I said with fear in my voice.
We walked closer to the closet, I opened the door and there she was. But she wasn’t herself, she wasn’t human anymore. I went to the kitchen to grab a kitchen knife, I knew exactly what to do. I went back to the closet and stabbed her, I knew if I left her like that then she would have bitten Sage or I. I saw my grandmother blood all over my hands. Sage came closer to me.
“Hey sam are you okay sweetie,” Sage said.
“Sage does it look like I’m okay, no Sage I just stabbed my grandmother the one who has taken care of me for most of my life,” I yelled at Sage.
“Sam I get that, but you have to remember that you are not the only one who has lost people that you love and care about,” Sage yelled back at me.
“Sage I’m sorry I was just super emotional,” I said.
“Yes we both are Sam,” Sage said.
I nodded my head.
“Alright well we better go bury my grandmother,” I said with so much emotion in my voice.
“Yeah, just know that I didn’t kill my parents,” Sage said.
“It’s not easy Sage,” I said.
She nodded her head.
We went to go get my grandmother body this time for real. Her body was still lying there in the closet. I thought about her before I picked up her body up and went outside and put her body in Sages trunk. I went back inside where Sage was.
“Are you ready to get her buried and the we can go look for survivors,” I said.
“Yeah I’m ready,” Sage said.
We got into Sages car and drove to the cemetery where we buried my grandfather. I made sure that we had shovels so we could bury her the proper way. That’s how she would have wanted it to be buried right next to her one and true love.
“So we really going to do this,” Sage said.
“Yep, we have to it’s what she would have wanted,” I said.
She nodded and we found my grandfathers grave.
