11: Leaving

1558 Words
Kiara's POV The bond is gone. I felt the very moment it snapped and fizzled into ash and embers. it carved my heart out and replaced it with a giant black hole, sucking something away, something I couldn't give a name to. I shoved those uncomfortable feelings to the attic of my mind. If anything I should be relieved that I'm alive. I didn't get violated by a beast and I survived. I couldn't imagine what would have happened if the alpha king hasn't shifted into his human form. The thought alone sent shivers crawling up the back of my legs. After a couple of seconds, Alex turned to me. "Are you okay?" He asked. Part of me as still in that glass room, staring at the alpha King as he rejected me. I raised my eyes and met Alex's. "What do you think?" I snapped. "It's not like you care. So don't f*****g bother." He rolled his eyes. "Oh for heavens sake! Stop with the drama party." My lips parted and my eyes widened. "Me?! Drama party?! Has it occured to you that I almost died in there?!" "I fail to see the problem. Look, I live life on the edge everyday, each day like I'm going to meet my death. I am constantly in danger too. You don't see me being dramatic do you?" What an arrogant piece of s**t! I flashed him the finger and Stormed away. He's living live on the edge? Like I f*****g care. He dragged me into that damned cage. "Kiara!" "f**k off! I'm leaving!" "Are you leaving in nothing but a blanket?" I froze. Right. I had forgotten about it. I grabbed the edges of the blanket and pinned it to my chest. He walked up to me and grabbed my wrist "Come on. I have something prepared for you." Nothing good I'm sure. Actually, it was okay. Steam swirled around me, forming wispy blue patterns. The scent of flowery body wash filled the humid air, a scent I wouldn't use even with a gun pointed to my head. I sat obediently in a giant claw foot tub while three middle aged women scrubbed and cleaned every part of me. "Is the water roo hot dear?" One of them asked. She had salt and pepper hair tied into a bun at the nape of her neck. Her warm brown eyes regarded me with an admiration I couldn't understand. I shook my head. "It's fine. Thank you." "Oh please we should be thanking you." Another said. She lifted my arm and lathered it. "You brought our king back to us. And you're alive too!" "It was the most wonderful news! It spread faster than a fire in a straw field. Everyone is indented to you." My stomach twisted and my cheeks stretched into a shy smile. "I didn't really do anything." I said softly. "Oh that was something." The first woman said. She poured water on my head and parted my wet hair. "No one has survived... him. You are one of a kind." Survived him. The pause in her words told me all I needed to know, the words that were too heavy to speak. I hugged my legs closer to my body. Even with the hot water I was swimming in, a chill blanketed by body. Images rushed into my mind, specifically of the alpha king's beast form. I really thought I'd die. I haven seen such a large and abnormally terrifying beast before. Even now I could feel the heat that rolled off his massive body. And when he bit me... My hand went to my neck, all I met was smooth unmarked skin. That triggered another image. His tongue, hot, rough, and wet, dragging over my throat. The heat that filled my veins as a result. The sparks that shot right between my legs. And that dream... My cheeks turned red and it wasn't from the water. I turned to the women and smiled. "The alpha king, does he have a Luna?" They all went silent. I pursed my lips. Damn you Kiara! Of course he doesn't! If he did she would have brought him back a long time ago! "Not exactly his Luna," One of the said. "But there is someone. She was going to become his Luna before everything happened. She's prayed to the goddess everyday that he regain his human form." A vein popped in my chin. My fists balled under the water and I huffed. That bastard. He has a girlfriend?! And they didn't throw her into that room to bring him back with the sheer power of love?! Wow. Just f*****g wow. "I see." I said through clenched teeth. Ten minutes later, I was out of the water and shown to a room where some clothes had been laid out for me. The women bade me goodbye with smiles, even after I had said I didn't do anything over and over again. Once alone, the heavy feeling in my chest returned. It burrowed deep, right at the centre of my ribcage. I massaged my chest in an attempt to soothe the pain and that did jackshit. What does this even mean? I'm not...I'm not missing Gregg? Am I? "Ew." There's no way I miss that prick. If anything I'm glad his mark is gone. He must have felt it by now, not that I care anyway. At the very least, I got a blessing from this cursed encounter with a literal beast. I got dressed, my mind running a slideshow of things I'd do once I leave this place. It's time to make them all pay. All of them. For my past life. A knock sounded on the door. "Kiara? Have you jumped from the window?" I rolled my eyes so hard that I glimpsed my brain. "Yes!" Alex chuckled. "Come down. It's time for breakfast." I walked out of the room. Alex stood outside the door, his expression neutral as his eyes scanned me from top to bottom. With a gesture of his head, he les the way. "No thanks, I need to leave now." I said. "My work here is done now and I don't like breakfast." Too much drama around it. "The least we can do is give you a good send off meal." He said as we arrived at the breakfast table. It was already set , with Jasper, I think that's his name, at the table. He waved at me and smiled, his cheeks stuffed full with bread. It struck me that I had seen him on TV before. But now wasn't the time to dwell on it. I faced Alex. "The least?" "Thank you for helping bring back our brother." "You're not welcome. You forced me, remember? Had I know I wouldn't have done it." "Come on, how long are we going to—" "Where has Jared gone?" A deep voice spoke. Goosebumps broke out over my skin and I turned, slowly, to the owner of the voice. The alpha king sauntered out of wherever, his hair perfectly straight and black and silky flowing down his shoulder, his very bare shoulders. My eyes were immediately drawn to his shirtless body. Perhaps back then I was roo riddled with fear and panic to look at him, but my goodness. He is a sculptor's wet dream. Every muscle defined as if cut from marble by the hands of the goddess herself. My breath got caught in my throat, his scent trapped with it. f**k. My mouth filled with moisture and I swallowed hard. He smells so f*****g good. He walked over to Jasper and plucked a slice of bread out of his plate. Jasper started to protest but one cold glare silenced him. "I said where is—" He turned and our eyes met. He arched a brow, dissatisfaction swimming in his dark eyes. "The f**k are you looking at?" The illusion shattered. Okay. I f*****g hate him. No amount of muscles or good smells will change that. "Brother, I heard our guest was leaving." A new voice spoke. Jared appeared, giving me a soft smile before he faced the alpha king. "She can't go now!" Jasper said as he got up and joined them. "We haven't thanked her properly!" Jared snapped his fingers. "Right! Thank you, Kiara dear, you have helped us in a way you can't even imagine." "He's right." Jasper added. "Thank you." All of them are so mannered and kind! Why does he have to be a barbarian without manners?! "Why haven't you left yet?" The alpha king asked, waving the piece of bread at me. "You're stinking the whole place up with your scent." "I think she smells ni—" Jasper started to say but Jared rammed his elbow into his ribs. I huffed. "Well I'm right about to leave, alpha." I spat the word like it was venom. "Good. And don't make the mistake of coming back here after two days. I will throw you out myself." What the...who does he even think he is?! "I would rather swallow hot nails than come back here." He bit into the bread. "That makes two of us." "Matter of fact, I never want to see you or your brothers ever again! I hope this would be the very last time.”
