Chapter Seven Helle arrived home from hospital to find Giulianna waiting for her. Waiting for her, like a spaniel. Waiting, like a faithful dog she did not have to take on walks. She ought to be wary of the girl, perhaps. When this companionship began, Helle had been convinced Giulianna was a figment of her imagination, a creature she had created to ease her solitude. After seeing the young girl’s body in hospital, she found herself certain this apparition was nothing less than Giulianna’s spirit or soul.
