Prologue
"Didn't think it would take you this long to show up."
Shrugging, Hunter stepped past the slightly shorter woman standing in the doorway, catching the faint scent of tropical perfume. Giving a quick glance around, Hunter noted that her home hadn't changed since the last time she had been there; over the woman’s shoulder, she could see into the woman’s living room. Nothing was astry, even the small paperback book that leaned against a small potted cactus seemed to have been placed there with the aesthetic value in mind.
"I saw you in the national news," The woman stated smugly. "I knew you'd no doubt be around at some point."
Hunter could feel the woman getting closer than necessary, sticking her hands into the deep pockets of the jeans she had stolen as she continued into the modern kitchen.
"I'm glad you have the time to keep up with my... escapades. Either way, I'm here for business, not for pleasure, Noelle." Hunter turned just as Noelle reached out to touch her, slapping her hand away. "I'm afraid that portion of our relationship is over."
Noelle scoffed, then rolled her striking hazel eyes. "What, have you found a replacement bed warmer?"
Hunter resisted the urge to turn round and leave. "That doesn't concern you. Now, I'm going to need new documents if you don't mind. Birth certificate, drivers license, passport, the whole deal." Giving the place another once over, Hunter huffed as she released her dark hair from the confines of a baseball cap she wore. "And do you happen to have any hair dye lying around?"
