My heart stopped, I felt like it physically stopped. As I got up to say hello, I got an intoxicating scent I never thought I’d smell again. Crystal.

The Moon Goddess must be playing some sort of joke on me. All at once, the memories of six months ago flood my brain. Our kiss, my rejection, her…leaving. Mate, my wolf Luca says, I can hear him whining in my head. Poor guy has spent the last six months miserable, hating me in the process.

I am looking into Crystal's eyes, whose eyes are fixated on me, not breaking focus. I can feel the sparks vibrating off of our bodies, and it almost makes me forget what we are doing.

“Hello Alpha, I am Valentina, I have heard great things about your pack.” I looked forward as I saw a hand extended to me. On instinct, I shook her hand and gave her a smile.

“How rude of me, where have my manners gone? This is my beta, Buddy, and my Gamma, Brady.” The boys both take a step forward. I can see they are both uncomfortable. They both met six months ago. Crystal and I were mates, and now I can tell they are both unaware of how to act properly.

I see them both extend hands to Valentina, and her Beta and Gamma. However, to my surprise, I see Crystal pull them both into a…hug. My eyes immediately widened as I was a little in shock. I stand there as I try not to lose my temper.

“It’s great to see you both.” I heard her say, only making me more confused. I never thought they were all that close to her, so I decided to brush it off and stay civil.

“This is my betta Cam, and Zane my Gamma.” Both boys step forward and shake my hand first out of respect. I sense no fear in either of them. That impresses me. I do wonder if she has told them who I am to her. It will come out soon enough.

“Buddy, I will show you all to your rooms. You are all on the Alpha floor, to give maximum privacy.”I said, as Buddy stepped forward to get his bags out of the car. Brady stepped forward to assist him.

“Here man, sorry, let me help you with that.” I see her Beta Cam say, “I know we packed like we are on a month-long vacation.” He proceeds, and I can’t help but chuckle well, her boys seem very civil, which makes things easier. I see all four boys head inside, laughing about something while racing up the stairs, leaving me with Valentina and Crystal.

I saw Valentina step forward, giving what I could only see as a sincere smile, making me slightly lower my guard. “I want to thank you for all of your hospitality, I am going to take a short nap before dinner.” With that she walked past me, leaving me alone with Crystal.

I stared at her for what felt like hours, the words were stuck in my throat. I could hear Luca whining profusely in my head, all he wanted was to kiss my mate, but I rejected her and I have to remember that.

“This place hasn’t changed much, Selena and I have missed it.” I gave her a look, trying to read her expressions to better gauge the conversation. She gives me nothing to work with. She looks up at the sky before smiling at me, it makes me melt in place instantly. “I must say I was surprised when I heard you reached out to my pack, yet again I am glad you did.” The way she speaks makes me feel as though I never want her to stop talking. Was she happy to hear from me?

“Maybe while you're here, I can take you on a run, some things have changed.” I blurt out, almost regretting what I said. She looks at me with a sparkle in her eye, she takes a step forward and smiles. A smile that I can only describe as radiant. Just as she is about to speak, I hear a squeaky voice coming from behind me, and I look at her eyes and turn a little sad. I turned around and saw Darla; someone who had always hated Crystal. Darla used to bully her.

“Oh Goddess, I heard Crystal was back, thinking my ears deceived me. I had to see for myself.” Darla came next to me, grabbing my arms in a tight squeeze. I could see my mate's eyes fall. If this b*tch doesn’t get her hands off us right now, I am going to rip her to shreds, Luca growls. He is not pleased by the events that seem to be transpiring. I quickly unhook our arms, receiving a nasty stare from Darla. She turns back to my mate, and her staring hasn’t let up. “I heard you have come to ally with your former pack, some are saying you just came to rekindle an old flame.” Darla is grinning ear to ear, I have had enough, and I give her a slight growl, to which I am ignored.

I saw Crystal step forward, raising up her hand slightly. “I don’t know what has been said about me, but let me clear the air. I am Alpha of the Crescent Dawn Pack, coming here to make an alliance with another fellow pack.” Crystal is death, glaring at Darla who is whining on the ground. She gets up and bows her head slightly. Crystal then looked straight at me, with fire in her eyes, something that for some reason made me a little turned on.

“Alpha, I appreciate you letting me come back here after our brief history, if you can call it that. However, I think while I am here, I will be keeping our relationship professional.” She looks directly at Darla, who is still glaring at me. “I wouldn’t want there to be any more talk, especially about a past I would much rather forget.” With that she walks past me, not making eye contact.

I think our mate has gotten hotter since she’s been away. Luca is full of ogling over Crystal at this point, and honestly so am I. I look down at Darla, with disgust radiating off of my face. I gave a little chuckle before going inside the packhouse. This is going to be an interesting weekend.
