CHAPTER 1: The divorce
Anastasia’s POV
“Get out of my house!” Jared screamed at me.
I was shocked. What was going on? What have I done?
“Here, sign these and I never want to see your stupid face again.” He shouted flinging some documents on my face.
I quickly went through them and my eyes almost bulged out when I saw the contents.
“A Divorce?” I whispered to myself.
He suddenly started laughing. I glanced at him. Wondering what was going on, but I was met with his dark gaze on me. He looked scary!
He started moving close to me and I was forced to move back till my back hit the wall. He looked like he could kill right now and I was terrified.
“What were you and your idiotic grandfather thinking when you trapped me in this loveless marriage?” He screamed in my face.
“I… don't g-e-t what you mean?” I stammered genuinely confused.
“You Liar! Why did you pretend to be a naive girl in this marriage? When you know everything! You freaking knew everything! or did you think that I would love you?” His veins were very visible now and I could see a blazing anger in his eyes.
“I don't know what you are talking about Jared. Please calm down and let us talk it out.” I pleaded lowering my gaze.
“Calm down? Talk it Out? You don't get to tell me what to do, you f*****g w***e!. Look at me!” He harshly grabbed my chin to look him in the eyes.
“Please Jared, I wasn't involved in anything. I was surprised by the marriage as well. But I know that what I feel for you is…” I broke down unable to complete the statement as my heart bled in pain and I couldn't control the tears any longer.
“Shut up, just shut up!” He tightened his grip on my chin, I was sure there was going to be a bruise there. However, that was the least of my problems.
“What were you doing at the house the night after she died? How did you know me? I found a clip of you watching me the entire night. I also found out that you were my junior in business school with me and you’ve had a stupid crush on me. Everyone knew about this except me!” He looked at me darkly.
“Who was she? How did he find out about my crush on him? I loved him, yes, but I never told him about it because he is very cold and arrogant. But still, I never stopped crushing on him. How did all these correlate to my grandfather and why was he handing me the divorce?
“Im sorry for not telling you about my love for you, I felt you would one day fall in love with me. I’m sorry, please just calm down, and let's talk it out.” I begged. Even if it was an arranged marriage, I had fallen in love with Jared. He was ridiculously attractive with the body of a Greek god.
“YOU THINK THIS IS ABOUT YOUR STUPID FEELINGS? I lost her for Christ’s sake and you and your freaking grandfather didn't even give me a chance before you trapped me in this hell of a marriage. I couldn’t abandon the company, it was her dream to see me succeed.” For a moment, I could see the hurt flash across his face.
“I’m sorry, I don't know anything about your past and I didn't trap you in this marriage. I was also…”
“Shut the f**k up! And stop trying to play the victim here. I know you are a very manipulative person Ana. I need you to do something for me.” He said, trying to speak calmly for the first time this evening.
“What?” I carefully asked.
“Sign those documents now!” He spoke coldly.
“We’ve been married for less than a year now. Your grandfather said we had to stay together for at least two years. You can't do this…” I whispered trying to hold back my tears.
“Shut up and sign those documents now!” He repeated, this time sounding more stern and angry.
I knew I had no option but to do as he had instructed. I had a lot of questions going through my mind and I knew the only person that could answer all my questions was my grandfather. I quickly signed the documents with my hands shaking fervently and handed them over to him.
“Good girl, now GET OUT!. Don't take anything from my house and just leave!. I never want to see your face in my life again. You have caused enough problems and I hope you and your grandfather rot in hell.” He slammed a glass against the wall beside me letting out his frustration.
I flinched as I felt a piece of the glass prick my skin. “Can I please pack just a bag?” I asked hoping he would let me.
“If you want to leave this house in one piece, get out now!” He shouted.
I quickly grabbed my phone from the table and sprinted out the door. As I was about to leave, I heard my name and turned back.
“If you ever thought I could love you in any way, I think you should take a look at yourself. Those birth marks on your face makes you look ugly. Do you think you are capable of being loved? Should I start with your looks? You are hideous darling, never forget that and just so you know, I am in love with someone else. Her name is Sierra.” He smirked and turned away.
I knew tears had started to stream down my face. He had broken me and he knew. He seemed to get satisfaction from that.
As I walked out, I could see the looks of pity from some of the maids and guards. I didn't want that. I deserved it for falling in love with a man I thought could love me back.
I could only go to my grandfather’s house as I had very little money on me. I needed some desperate answers from him right now. I did not really have a close relationship with him since he was always busy with work and all I had to do was dance to his tunes and follow his instructions without questioning since my parent died.
“What had he done?” Different thoughts ran through my mind as I quickly boarded a train and got to my grandfather’s house. Everywhere felt different when I arrived. The usual guards weren't at the gate. I heard my phone ringing as I was about to enter the house.
“Hello miss, are you the daughter of Mr Grey?”
“Yes, yes, I am. Any problem?” I responded, my nerves heightened.
“Well, there is an emergency and your grandfather is currently in the intensive care unit. I would send you the address right now and I suggest you come down right away. The caller informed me and dropped the call.
“WHAT” I froze.
