CHAPTER 53
HEARTBREAK
Loredana smiled at Biagio as he wrapped his strong arms around her, stroking her hair. They seated themselves in a cafe, the strange muffles of people pressing hard into her head. A migraine hit her, so she massaged her temples and briefly closed her eyes, thinking about Elena. Something wasn’t right. An uneasiness settled over her chest as she swallowed and stared at her boyfriend, who was fixated on the menu. In spite of smelling the wafts of spices, sauces, and other cooking smells, Loredana was numb to anything around her. Nothing felt the same since Elena left, and she missed her terribly.
Biagio placed their order of cappuccinos with the approaching waiter who disappeared as quickly as he arrived. He turned to Loredana. “What’s your plan with Elena?”
