Chapter Thirteen: The Surprise at the Baby Naming Ceremony

3067 Words
Todd's POV I thought that Samantha was playing a trick on me. I am so confused and wonder what is going on. How did Thor and Athena know about the pregnancy, but not me? Must be the god genes that Samantha passed down to the twins when she was carrying them, but who knows? I just wished that she told me first. "How can this be? I should have heard the babies in you before you could sense them. But the twins knew before me," I tell her. "The twins are the ones who told me that I was pregnant. I didn't even know. Would you like all of us to go to the doctors and see for sure?" She asks. "I believe that we should, but let us wait until the twins are done celebrating their given names and get their gifts to the house, okay, love?" I Say "Sounds like a plan to me," Samantha says, smiling "Daddy, looky, I got a stuffed unicorn!" Athena tells me with bright blue eyes and a huge smile. My daughter loves all things pink, and stuffed animals are her favorite things in the world. I can't believe it has only been less than a year, and the twins have grown fast. Yes, it is just their naming ceremony, but boy, they are running around and talking up a storm. With us being werewolves, we grow more quickly than normal humans. That is how they are already talking at less than a year old, but still, I am surprised that it's only been such a short time since they were born. My son, on the other hand, has blonde hair, green eyes, and loves all natural things. His favorite color is pine green, and he loves sparring with my father every so often. It is the cutest thing seeing our parents interact with the twins. "I see, princess. Did you thank the person who gave you the unicorn?" I ask her. "Yes, Daddy, I did, and I got more gifts. Can we take them home now? I'm tired, it's nap time," she says while yawning, and I smile. "Dad!" I call out to my father. "Yes, son?" My dad says. "Can you load up the gifts into the big truck? I am going to take the twins home, they are tired," I tell him, looking at the twins who can't seem to keep their eyes open any longer. "Yes, I will," my father says. "Thank you, Dad." "Where are you going?” Samantha asks me. “The party isn’t over.” "The twins are tired. I am taking them home. And you should rest, too, dear, we have the doctor to go see," I say, laughing. "All right, let me go say good day to the pack, and then we can go home," Samantha says. Samantha walks over to the stage and gets everybody's attention. "Thank you all for coming for the twins' naming ceremony! You are all welcome to keep partying, but my family is going home. The twins are tired, and Todd and I are going to see the pack doctor. Have fun, everyone! Don’t stay out too long. We have training tomorrow., Samantha says and walks back over to me. "Let us get home," I say to Samantha as we load the twins into the car. We head back to the house and take the twins up to the nursery, before laying them in their cribs. Pretty soon, we will need to get them toddler beds, but we still have at least another week before they outgrow the cribs, which is a good thing. Samantha's POV We get the twins to bed, and both Todd and I go to our room to lie down and relax for a while. It has been a long day for both of us. I am glad that we got the naming ceremony out of the way, and we can now focus on the twins and getting them toddler beds soon. We are also figuring out what needs to be done to the spare rooms in the house so that we can get those ready for the pups to come and any future pups that we plan on having. It is hard having pups back to back, but what can you say? We only carry pups for four months, unlike humans who carry the baby for nine months, so we can have a good three litters a year if we wanted to. The only part about the alpha blood is the pups grow up fast, and it is hard to keep track of them daily. But what can you say when you love children? Todd, on the other hand, doesn't want a lot of babies, but I could have twenty or more and still be happy, especially since our parents have been taking over most of the alpha duties for us until we can get back on our feet. Todd's phone rings and he looks at it, seeing that it is the pack doctor. "Hello, Doctor Sandra," Todd says into the phone "Hello, Alpha," Sandra replies. “I just wanted to check-in.” “Let me put you on speaker so that Samantha can hear, too,” Todd says, putting the phone on speaker so that we both can talk to her at the same time. “Hello, Doctor Sandra!” I say. "Well, hello, Luna! How are the twins doing?" She asks. "Oh, they are wonderful. Could you do us a big favor?" Todd asks. "Sure. What would that be?" "Would you be willing to make a house call with the ultrasound machine?" I ask her. "Yes. Could you give me about an hour to get there? And please, Alpha, could you have dinner ready? Your mom keeps telling me what a good cook you are and says that you should open your restaurant,” she says, making us both laugh. "I will get dinner going, then. See you in an hour, doctor, and thank you," Todd says, hanging up the phone "I guess you better go make some dinner so that it is ready when Sandra gets here," I tell Todd while heading into the master bathroom. "I guess I need to make a big meal. Knowing our parents, they will be right behind Sandra for dinner," he laughs. Todd heads downstairs to the kitchen to get started on the dinner, and not long after, I decided to go down to the kitchen to help him. "How about you make the main course, and I make the salad and dessert?" I suggest. "That sounds like a good plan," says Todd. We start making dinner. I whip up the salad and place it in the fridge, and then get started on making brownies from scratch for dessert. It is my own personal recipe that Todd has never had before. Todd's making spaghetti for dinner, which is always excellent. "I am going to go get the twins ready for dinner," I tell Todd, heading upstairs to the nursery and seeing that the twins are up and waiting for me to take them out of their cribs. "Are you two ready for me to help you get dressed for dinner, or do you want me to pick out your clothes and help you if you need it?" I ask the twins "You pick out the clothes, Mommy," replies Thor. I go to the closet and pick out their clothes before handing them their outfits. "Okay, you two get dressed. I will sit right here in my rocking chair and wait for you," I tell them, smiling and watching them help each other get dressed. The twins’ get dressed, and we all head down to the kitchen together, the two of them holding my hands. We get to the kitchen, and Todd helps me get them in their highchairs. "Mommy, why do we have so many place settings?" Athena asks me. "Well, let us see, we have both sets of grandparents, plus Doctor Sandra, all coming for dinner," I tell her. "Mommy, can Doctor Sandra sit by me?" Thor asks, smiling. "She can sit wherever you want her to," I tell him Doctor Sandra has never found her mate, and I am starting to wonder if she will ever find one. It is cute to see how the twins react to her name. The doorbell rings, and I get up to answer the door. "Right on time, I see," I say to Doctor Sandra as I lead her to the kitchen. "Yes, and your parents are right behind me. I swear, they never miss a meal," she says, laughing. "They are pretty much here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner," Todd states. "I don't blame them! They love their grandbabies," she says. Our parents come into the kitchen like they own the house and sit down in their regular seats. "No, Nana, Doctor Sandra is sitting there!" Thor says to my mother. "Oh, is that so, Thor?" My mom asks, laughing and getting up. "Yes, Nana. Doctor Sandra, please sit by me," Thor asks, smiling. "I would be delighted, little man," Doctor Sandra replies, sitting beside Thor. "Samantha, can I talk to you in the hallway, please?" My mother asks me. "Yes, mother?" I smile and follow her to the hallway. "I think Thor is smitten with Sandra, and it is the cutest thing ever, but he is too young, don't you think?" My mom asks me. "Just leave it alone, mom. It is just too cute, and he adores her, even if he is still under a year old," I tell her, knowing what she is thinking. "Well, you know Sandra doesn't have a mate at the time," my mom says. "I know that Mom, but please don't do anything until Thor is older okay?" I say, and we head back into the kitchen. Todd and I place the food on the table. “We have salad and spaghetti for dinner, please help yourselves, and we will dish up the twins' plates," I announce. "Mommy, can Sandra help me with my plate?" Thor asks, smiling and full of himself. "If she wants to. Why don't you ask her?" I tell him "Miss Sandra, could you fix me a plate, please?" Thor asks Sandra. "What would you like, little man?" She asks him. "I want spaghetti and salad," he says to her. Sandra makes his plate and sets it in front of him. My dad makes Athena’s plate and tickles her, making her giggle. "Dad, let Athena eat and stop tickling her," I say, laughing at my family. "Can we all eat now?" Todd says. "Yes, let us eat," I say, as I sit at the table, making my plate and digging in. "Wow, you have a healthy appetite," Sandra says to me. She missed the ceremony, so she doesn't know about the pregnancy yet. "Yes, I do," I say. Todd's POV Our parents gather up all the dishes and carry them to the sink. Our mothers decide to do the dishes while our dads take the twins to the living room to watch a movie. "Doctor Sandra, did you bring the ultrasound machine with you?" I ask. "Yes, I did, it is in my bag by the door," Sandra says I walk to the door and grab the bag. "Let us head up to the bedroom, then," I say, carrying the bag upstairs while Sandra and Samantha follow me. "What's going on, you two?" Sandra asks us. "You will see," Samantha tells her with a smile. We get to the bedroom and head in. "Doctor, we want an ultrasound done," Samantha says. "Okay, but what for?" Sandra asks. "I'm pregnant," Samantha says. "The twins announced it at their ceremony today," I say. "How do the twins know?" Sandra asks. "They are the ones who told me," Samantha says. "That's a new one," Sandra says. Sandra sets up the machine by the bed and waits for Samantha to lie down. "Okay, let us see what we have here," Sandra says while putting the gooey stuff on Samantha’s belly. She moves the wand around for a few minutes and then faces the screen toward us so Samantha and I can see. "Well, the twins are correct: You are pregnant," Sandra says. "How many pups?" I ask. "Chill out, Todd," Samantha says to me. "I want to know how many," I whine, making Samantha and Sandra laugh. "Todd, you act like your son sometimes," Samantha says. "Well, are you ready for the number of pups you will be having?" Sandra asks. "Well, Todd is. So just tell us, please," Samantha says. "It looks like you will be welcoming at least three more pups into your family," Sandra states. "At least three? You don't seem sure about that number," Samantha says. "Well, it is too soon to be sure, but I can come by again next week to check again. Oh, and by the way, Samantha, you are on bed rest as of right now," Sandra says. "I can't be on bed rest! I have a pack and family to take care of," Samantha says. "I know you do, but with you carrying so many pups, you need to stay in bed," Sandra says. "Hun, don't argue with her, please.”“I have stuff to do," Samantha complains. "Samantha, you can still do stuff from the bed, but I don't want you to overwork yourself. It isn't healthy for you or the pups, okay?" Sandra says. "Fine," Samantha says. Sandra packs up her ultrasound machine and stands up. "I will see you again next week. And Samantha, I am taking some brownies home with me," Sandra says with a smile. "Take as many as you like," Samantha told her. "If you need anything, don't hesitate to call," Sandra says while heading downstairs. Sandra's POV I get to the living room of the house and decide to talk to both sets of parents. "Alpha Bruce and Alpha Samuel, I would like you to make sure that Todd keeps Samantha in bed. She is on bed rest until further notice," I say. "Why? What is wrong with my daughter?" Alpha Samuel asks. "Nothing is wrong, Samuel, it is just with how many pups she is carrying, she needs to take it easy," I say. "How many pups is she carrying?" Bruce asks. "Well, as of right now, I was able to count three, but I will know more when I come back next week," I tell them. "Three?" Samuel says. "Yes, three, but there could be more," I say. "Okay, well, we can help out with the twins and other pack stuff so that Todd doesn't have his hands full," Selene says. "Thank you, Selene, bless you for bringing such a good couple together. I wish my mate would hurry up and find me," I tell her. "Give it time, dear. Patience is a virtue," Selene says. "I know, but being alone is not fun," I say. "You’re not alone, you have all of us," Celeste says. "Sandra, you have me," Thor says, coming up to me and kissing my hand. "Thank you, Thor, you are such a nice gentleman," I say. "I will walk you out to your car now," Bruce says. "Papa, me do it, not you," Thor says. “He is such a little cutie. I can't deny him. Bruce, just follow us and let Thor walk me to my car, okay?" I say. Thor walks me out to the car, followed by Bruce "I open your door for you," Thor says, trying to reach the handle to my car door. "Let me do that, little man, it is too hard for you," I tell him. "I hope you have a good night," Thor says to me as I get in my car. "I will see you next week when I come to see your mom," I tell him. "Okay, see you next week," Thor says. I watch as Thor runs up to Bruce. Bruce picks him up and carries him into the house. I wonder why Thor is smitten with me; it must be puppy love. I drive away and head home. Todd's POV "Samantha, Sandra says bed rest. What are you doing in the kitchen?" I ask. "I was hungry," she says, smiling. "Get back in bed now," I tell her. "But love, I am hungry. Can't I make a bowl of cereal?" She pouts. "I will make you whatever you want, now go back to bed," I say. Samantha goes back up to our room and lies back in bed. "A bowl of fruit and some milk, love," I say, walking into the room carrying a tray of fruit. "I wanted cereal," Samantha says. "You will have nothing that is not healthy for you," I say. "This is so not fair, I want cereal," she pouts. "You will eat what I give you, dear," I say, placing the tray on her lap. "Fine, but at least get me some real food for lunch," Samantha says. "I will, but eat this nice, healthy breakfast for me," I say. The twins run into our room, smiling. "Morning, Mamma," Athena says. "Morning, princess," Samantha says "Morning, Dad," Thor says. "Morning, son," I say. "What would you like for breakfast?" I ask the twins. "Pancakes," they say together. "Okay, let us go down to the kitchen and get you some pancakes," I tell them. "Okay, daddy," the twins say, running down to the kitchen. "Could I have some pancakes, too?" Samantha asks. "I will bring you up some," I say. I go down to the kitchen and start making the pancakes as our parents walk into the house. "Morning, Todd," Selene says. "Morning, Selene," I reply. "How is Samantha doing?" My mother asks. "She tried coming downstairs this morning, and I had to make her go back to our room," I say, laughing. "I take it she doesn't like being in bed all the time?" Samuel asks. "She hates it. Mom, could you take over making the pancakes?" I ask. "Yes, I can," my mom says, heading over to the stove to finish making the pancakes. "I hope that Samantha will take Sandra's advice and stay put," I say. "You know how stubborn Samantha can be," Selene says. "Yes, but I love her anyway," I say.
