“Argus!” I called out as I stepped away from Amber. “What are you doing here?”
Amber quickly picked up her laundry basket and rushed out of the room. I had expected Argus or Baldwin to step in front of her, but luckily, they let her slip past without any fuss.
Their eyes were glued to mine as they walked past the door and slammed it shut. They still hadn’t said a single word, and it was already getting on my nerves.
“What do you want?” I asked and strolled back to my bed, sat down heavily, and returned my attention to the book as if the two of them were no longer in the room.
