Chapter 21 - Presentation

The day of the presentation of the cake that Joffiel prepared came.

Joffiel goes to the Denver Company together with Marisson. She brought everything that she needed.

“Joffiel, it’s more likely that the cake you made will be added to the regular menu. You’re new to the company so you still don’t know what will be the prize being chosen,” Marisson said.

“What will it be?” Joffiel asked.

“Well, the company will give you a huge amount of money and you will be compensated for every sale that the item will have,” Marisson replied.

“That’s why it became a huge event, so what will happen to the winner from the previous event?” Joffiel asked.

“She will still be given the amount that a winner will receive, though the part that she will be earning from its sale will be forfeited since it will not be marketed,” Marisson said.

“That’s sad for her,” Joffiel said.

“No, she will more likely be happy that someone could beat her food item. She has won many times already and she’s frustrated by the lack of more ideas so she’s looking forward to tasting what you did,” Marisson replied.

“I see, then I’m looking forward to what will happen in the meeting,” Joffiel said.

As they arrived at the company, many employees gave the utmost respect to Marisson. Joffiel was amazed at how high Marisson is in their company.

“Joffiel, I’m sorry to tell you this but our boss would not be present right now so you would not meet him again today. Just focus on what you have to do,” Marisson said.

“Okay, Marisson. Thank you for the reminder,” Joffiel said.

“We will directly go to the meeting area so we don’t have enough time for me to introduce you to the other higher-ups,” Marisson said.

“That’s fine, it’s still not my first day at work so I’ll be fine,” Joffiel said.

When everyone was present, the meeting started.

“Okay, everyone. Since, our boss is not here, Ma’am Jopphia will be the one that will spearhead this meeting,” Marisson said through her microphone.

Marisson leans to Joffiel. She said, “She’s one of the pioneers of this company. She’s the best friend of the mother of our boss.”

As Joffiel saw Jopphia, she felt an unusual feeling. She couldn’t explain it but she felt very different.

“The agenda for our meeting is the food item that will be added to the menu in one of our branches here. This would be our tenth meeting about this so I hope that we would come to a closure,” Jopphia said.

Everyone's attention was focused on Joffiel.

“Okay, now that you know that there is someone that is very unfamiliar here. Let’s start with that. Marisson, would you kindly introduce her?” Jopphia said.

“Thank you, Ma’am Jopphia. As you all know, we needed a new manager on the branch that will soon be open. And that manager will be Joffiel Navin, she’s still young so take care of her. However, she’s not here because we want to introduce her to you,” Marisson said.

Murmur was heard all over the meeting room when Marisson said that Joffiel will be the manager. The noise came down when Jopphia made a gesture to make the people silent.

“Continue explaining why she’s here, Marisson,” Jopphia said.

“Alright, she’s here to present a food item that could make a closure to our meeting. Joffiel, would you kindly show us the cake that you made?” Marisson said

.

Joffiel put out the cake on her table. Everyone was amazed at how it looked.

“Very appealing, but what about the taste?” one of the higher-ups asked.

“Okay, then. We’ll proceed to taste it one by one,” Jopphia said.

Jopphia called out for people that would distribute the cake to everyone around the meeting room.

One by one, everyone takes a bite at Joffiel’s cake. They were amazed at how it tasted and made an approving gesture.

“This is revolutionary,” Jopphia said.

“Thank you,” Joffiel said.

“I don’t think anyone would reject the idea that we will make this the new food item in the menu,” Jopphia said.

“Uhm,” Marisson uttered.

“Yes, Marisson. Do you have something to say,” Jopphia asked.

“Yes, actually there’s another cake that Joffiel made. So I would also like the members of this meeting to taste it so we could compare them together,” Marisson said.

“Really, so there’s another one? I couldn’t think that there will be more delicious than this cake,” Jopphia said.

Jopphia ordered some of her people again to distribute pieces of cake to everyone. As they tasted the cake they again astonished by its taste.

“It’s delicious, it’s melting in my mouth,” one of the higher-ups said.

“Okay, I thought we would not have any problem when we first tasted the first cake, but right now, the problem will be, which one of the two will we use?” Jopphia said.

“Let’s ask Joffiel for her personal opinion,” one of the members suggested.

“That's right. What’s your opinion on your own creation,” Jopphia asked.

“I would suggest that we choose the first one,” Joffiel said.

Joffiel continued her explanation just like what she told Marisson when they first tasted it.

“I see, then I think that’s a great choice,” Jopphia.

One of the members raises his hand.

“Yes?”Jopphia asked.

The member pushes the two plates forward. He said, “Why not both?”

“You know the reason, we could not wager on something like that,” another member answered.

The member that suggested it answered back. He said, “With how the two cakes tasted, I don’t think that it’ll be a wager.”

All of the other members agreed.

“Hmm, that’s also an option. So, what’s your thought about this, Marisson? I know you have something to say since you made Joffiel bring both of the cakes here,” Jopphia said.

“Yes, Ma’am Jopphia. I also have the same thought to have both of the cakes added to the menu. Our main advertisement would be asking our customer on which cake tastes better than the other. Aside from the customer being curious about our new item, they would try both of the cakes so they could answer what’s on our advertisement,” Marisson said.

“I see, so you already think about this. So we have three options; only the first cake, the second cake, or both of them. Let’s have a vote,” Jopphia said.

As the voting started, the vote was distributed to 12-0-0 in favor of having to add both of the cakes in the menu.

“Okay, I’m happy that we have come to closure for this meeting. I’m very thankful to everyone, especially to Joffiel. Let’s give her a round of applause,” Jopphia said.

A loud applause was heard in the meeting room.

“So with that, the meeting is adjourned,” Jopphia proclaimed.

Everyone went out of their seats and congratulated Joffiel. After that they proceed to their respective working areas.

Jopphia spoke with Joffiel. She said, “Let’s talk about the food item since we needed to know how we would duplicate that and with the possibility, to make it available across the nation.”

“Okay, Ma’am Jopphia,” Joffiel replied.

“Marisson, just prepare for another meeting with the three of us and another person. We’ll have the meeting after the lunch break is over,” Jopphia said.

As the lunch break was over, the meeting with four people involved commenced.

"Let me introduce myself formally. I'm Jopphia, one of the stakeholders for this company. I'm also one of the pioneers of this company together with my husband Samuel," Jopphia said.

The other man in their meeting also speaks up. He said, "I'm Samuel, the introduction would be the same with my wife so that's it."

"They are the stakeholder but they are also the co-owner of this company," Marisson added.

"I see, so both of you are included as one of the most important people here in the company," Joffiel said.

"Obviously, but don't feel nervous or anything. We're very kind people," Samuel said.

"Okay, Sir Samuel," Joffiel answered.

"Let's talk first about the cakes. You said that you made a way that a person could replicate the taste and the appearance of the first cake, so what about the other one?" Jopphia said.

"The second cake needs some techniques, though it will be easy to understand, teaching it personally to the person would make it easier to replicate the same cake," Joffiel replied.

"I see, so you would need some time to teach it to other people, and after that, those people could teach the other so you won't need to teach other people again?" Jopphia said.

"Yes, if that would be possible," Joffiel said.

"Okay, then just send the details to Marisson, and she will be the one responsible for distributing it across our trusted employees, '' Jopphia said.

“Okay, Ma’am Jopphia,” Marison answered.

“Well, that’s all for the formal part,” Jopphia said.

Joffiel nodded.

“Joffiel, I’m happy that someone won over my creation,” Jopphia said.

“That means, you’re the one that wins the event?” Joffiel asked.

“Yes, this would be the first time that someone could make me amazed in terms of cooking,” Jopphia said.

“Jopphia is the best cook that I ever met,” Samuel said.

“Yup, but that would not be true anymore, one bite of Joffiel’s cooking will change your thoughts completely,” Jopphia said.

“It may be more delicious but your cooking is made with love for me so I don’t think for sure that my thoughts will change,” Samuel said.

“I thought that you would say that, that’s why I left some of Joffiel cakes here so you could also taste it,” Jopphia said.

Samuel tried the cake of Joffiel.

“Well, as you have said, Joffiel is the best cook that I’ve ever met,” Samuel proclaimed.

“See, what happens if you don’t think that it’ll change your thought?” Jopphia said.

“I couldn’t help it, I felt the Joffiel also put the secret ingredients, the love. Right, Joffiel?” Samuel said.

The four of them laugh.

“I do everything with love so I think you’re correct,” Joffiel answered.

“You know what, I feel different when I met you, maybe it’s due to the fact that you have the same name as our daughter,” Jopphia said.

“You have a daughter?” Marisson asked in shock.

“Yes, we had a daughter eighteen years ago. But she died right after she was born, her name is also Joffiel,” Jopphia said.

“Joffiel, you’re eighteen years old right? Are you not her daughter?” Marisson asked.

“That’s impossible. We are sure that our daughter died at that time,” Jopphia said.

“Well, if you look at her, she’s had the same face as yours during your younger years, Jopphia,” Samuel said.

Jopphia laughs. She said, “If I had that kind of face then I would have many suitors that time, but you’re the only one right?”

“I’m just saying that you’re also beautiful,” Samuel said.

“Fine, fine. Let’s end this meeting, we take so much time from Joffiel. She might have something to do,” Jopphia said.

“I’m fine, Ma’am Jopphia,” Joffiel answered.

“Okay, everyone. Our meeting is now adjourned. Thank you!” Jopphia said.

As they were heading out of the meeting room, a guy opened it and greeted them.

Marisson whispered to Joffiel. She said, “That’s our boss.”

Joffiel was shocked when she saw their boss.
