Chapter 17 - The Azazel Company

As morning came, Joffiel woke up early to prepare for her work. This is her first day at work so she can't be late. She wants her co-workers and boss to have a good impression on her.

After getting up, she brushed her teeth first then cooked some food for her breakfast. After eating her breakfast, Joffiel went to the bathroom to take a bath.

After doing her usual morning routine she went to her neighbor to bring some food.

"Good morning, Joffiel. Come in!" Marisson greeted her with a smile.

"No need. I just want to give this food for the both of you. I need to go now. Thanks by the way," Joffiel said.

Joffiel just bid good bye for a while when she saw Sheena. After a few conversations with her neighbor, she went straight to the company that she will work for - the Azazel Company.

She does not have much knowledge of certain details about that company so she feels a little bit nervous and excited at the same time.

After some time, she finally came to the place where the company is located. She did not use her phone to find this company again. Once she had been to a different places, she would remember the road again, just like having a sense of direction.

She walked towards the entrance and saw a security guard. The guard welcomed her with a smile.

“Good morning ma’am! New employee?” The security guard asked joyfully.

Joffiel was a little surprised by the greeting of the guard because she was anxious, thinking about her new work.

“Ah! Yes! Good morning, Sir!” Joffiel said quickly while rushing to walk inside the building.

After entering the building, she inquired with the receptionist. She went directly to the room she was in before.

“You’re early, Joffiel,” Drew greeted.

“Good morning, Drew. I don’t wanna be late for this, the assistant you told me might be disappointed if I come late,” Joffiel answered.

“Well, since she’s also here in the company early, I’ll contact her so I can introduce you to her. Also, she will be the one that will tour you around our company, it’s not my job after all,” Drew said.

“Okay, I’m excited to meet her,” Joffiel replied.

They went out of their room and proceeded to go to the office for the community outreach committee.

“Hello, Shane. This is your new director, please take care of her,” Drew said.

“Good morning, Ma’am,” Joffiel greeted.

“Good morning, too. Please leave her to me Drew, thank you for assisting her,” Shane said.

“Then, I’ll leave now. Joffiel, do your best,” Drew replied.

“Thank you, Drew,” Joffiel answered.

“So first, let me introduce myself. I’m Shane Garcia, just call me by my name,” Shane said.

“I’m Joffiel Navin, I’m looking forward to working with you,” Joffiel replied.

“Okay, good. I might be your assistant but people here would think that I have higher authority than you, especially when you're younger than me. But don’t make it a big deal, just prove to them that you are our director. That’s what I’m always saying to every new director. I lost count on how many times I said that, but I hope this will be the last time. I’m looking forward to how you work, Ma’am Joffiel,” Shane said.

“Just call me Joffiel, it feels awkward to hear someone calling me Ma’am,” Joffiel replied.

Shane laughs. She said, “Is being called Ma’am by a person older than you makes you feel embarrassed? But I think you need to be used to it since it’s a form of respect and respect is a thing that you need from your subordinate.”

“I see, but at least you should not call me with honorifics because you’re basically the one who will guide me,” Joffiel replied.

“If you say so. So let me start by guiding you to your own office room,” Shane answered.

Shane brought Joffiel to the director’s office.

“This will be your room, my room is on the other side so you could ask for my help anytime. But I’ll be with you most of the time, so that room is almost always empty,” Shane said.

“Thank you very much, Shane,” Joffiel answered.

“So I’ll be introducing you to our team. We only have four people in our committee excluding the two of us,” Shane said.

They went to a big office where the four members are located.

Shane gets the attention of the members in the office. She said, “Everyone! The person that will be your director is here, she will start next week but you should introduce yourself today.”

Everyone stops on what they were working on and proceed to meet Joffiel.

“Good morning, everyone. It’s nice meeting you, I’m Joffiel Navin,” Joffiel said.

The four members were awestruck on how beautiful and how young their new director is. The office was filled with silence since no one wanted to speak.

Shane breaks their silence. She said, “Okay, if no one wants to start, we’ll start introducing from left to right.

The four members who are awestruck by Joffiel snapped. The first member introduced himself.

“Good morning, Ma’am Joffiel. I’m Carlo, I'm responsible for finding possible places for our outreach program. I’m also the one who initially coordinates with them for the director. It’s nice meeting you,” Carlo said.

“Nice meeting you, Carlo,” Joffiel answered.

“Ahm. Hello, I’m Jessica. I’m the one responsible for creating and formulating what kind of program we will do once the place of the program is confirmed. It’s nice meeting you, Ma’am Joffiel,” Jessica said.

“It’s nice meeting you, too, Jessica,” Joffiel replied.

“I’m Maori, I’m the one responsible for creating the team that would partake in the program. I’m also the one who will contact each one of the employees here so that everyone could participate in our outreach. Nice meeting you, Ma’am,” Maori said.

“Nice meeting you, Maori,” Joffiel replied.

“Hi, Ma’am Joffiel. I’m Jas, I’m the one responsible for the financial aspect of the committee. It’s nice meeting you,” Jas said.

“Nice meeting you, Jas,” Joffiel said.

“That’s it for everyone, I feel that all of you wanted to know more about Joffiel but you should do that in the future. Joffiel needs to know more about the company so we will be leaving here first so I could tour her around the company,” Shane said.

“I’ll look forward to working with everyone,” Joffiel said.

Everyone in the room puts a smile on their face. Joffiel uses her eyes of discernment in everyone and finds that they emit light differently from everyone. This means that they are a mix of a good and bad person.

Joffiel and Ashe started with the ground floor where the receptionist can be found.

“So, you will be working here?” the receptionist asked.

“Yes, she will be the new director for the community outreach committee,” Shane replied.

“I’m sorry, Ma’am. I should be more formal in what I said,” the receptionist said.

“Don’t worry about that, I’m not yet the director, I’ll start next week,” Joffiel said.

The receptionist nodded.

“So this is only what can be found at the ground floor, you could ask the receptionist for anything. She might call you from the telephone in your office if someone wants to speak with you, the call will come to me first so you don’t have to worry that it will distract you from what you are doing,” Shane explained.

“Okay, that’s a good thing,” Joffiel replied.

“Then let’s proceed to the second floor. This building has 70 floors so make sure you remember the important ones. Although you only need to remember at least five floors,” Shane said.

The two of them roam around the building and Shane introduces Joffiel to other directors and people that have high authority in the company.

“Finally, this is our boss' office. He said that we can come inside so we will do that,” Shane said.

“Okay, sorry for making you do this,” Joffiel said.

Shane laughs. She said, “You know, it's my job and just like what I said before, I did this a couple of times already.”

After confirming that they are already there, Ashe opened the door for them.

“Hello, Joffiel. I’m glad that you accepted the job,” Fenril said.

“Yes, Sir Fenril. Thank you very much for this,” Joffiel answered.

“So, how was she, Shane?” Fenril asked.

“She’s a good listener and a kind person, I’m not sure about her expertise when it comes to her job since we are still not tackling that part. But so far, I’m intrigued by her,” Shane answered.

“I see, so how’s our company, Joffiel?” Fenril asked.

“I met a lot of people already and they are very welcoming, though I don’t know why they kept being silent at first,” Joffiel answered.

“Well, anyone will be astonished with that kind of face. The face of an angel. Did you learn more about what our company is?” Fenril said.

“Yes, Sir Fenril. The Azazel Company is a technology company that focuses on designing and developing electronics and computer softwares that could help a lot of people,” Joffiel replied.

“Yup, that’s what we are. I don’t think you need to learn more about the specifics since your job is more on helping people outside our company but learning some would help you interact with other employees here,” Fenril said.

“Okay, sir. I will surely do that. Thank you for the advice,” Joffiel replied.

“Do you want to know what my personal goal is for this company?” Fenril asked.

“What is it, Sir?” Joffiel replied.

“I want to conquer the world. I want everyone in the world to have access to the internet through the things that we develop here in my company. I want even the poor to have access to the world, no one should be left behind. Do you think that it's an unachievable goal?" Fenril said.

“I don’t think so, even with how big the world is, there’s always a way to make things work out,” Joffiel answered.

Fenril laughs. He said, “See, Ashe. This is what I want from my employee.”

Ashe sighs. She said, “Both of you are delirious, there’s no point in helping the poor if they could not help us in gaining profit.”.

“You’re really like a devil, Ashe. Just think about how the poor would feel if you gave them something that they wanted,” Fenril said.

Ashe just looked away from Fenril.

“I’m just kidding, don’t be that angry,” Fenril said.

“Just continue talking to Joffiel first. She’s listening, you know,” Ashe replied.

“Whatever. So, Joffiel. I’m sure you heard that I’m strict when it comes to work, I’ll not expect that you could do your work perfectly in just a few months but I’ll be observing you so be sure you do your best,” Fenril said.

“Yes, Sir. I’ll do everything that I can,” Joffiel answered.

“But don’t be pressured, you just need to work six hours a day. Don’t overwork and take care of yourself. I don’t want anyone in my company to feel sick due to fatigue from work. I only need a few hours from my employee so they could have ample time for themselves,” Fenril said.

“Thank you, Sir. I’ll remember that,” Joffiel answered.

“Shane, you can continue guiding Joffiel on her work. Thank you for assisting her,” Fenril said.

Shane nodded and escorted Joffiel out of Fenril’s office. Shane introduced how the work is done to Joffiel. Joffiel understood every detail and Shane was amazed at how fast learner Joffiel is. Their meeting ended and Joffiel went home.

In her room, Sheena is already waiting for her at her door.

“Joffiel! I’m waiting for you!” Sheena said.

“Why are you waiting for me?” Joffiel asked.

“Nothing, I just want to spend time with you. Am I not allowed?” Sheena said.

Joffiel laughs. She said, “Of course it’s okay for me. I just thought you needed something.”

“Yup I needed to spend time with you,” Sheena answered.

Both of them laugh. They went inside as Joffiel unlocked her door.

“So how’s you job hunting, do you find a good job?” Sheena asked.

“Not only good, I think it’s the best job for me,” Joffiel answered.

“Ehh? What's your job?” Sheena asked.

“It’s community outreach director for the Azazel Company,” Joffiel answered.

“Azazel Company!” Sheena shouted.

“You don’t have to shout, what’s wrong with that company?” Joffiel asked.

“It’s the biggest company here in our country and almost in the world. It feels like almost every gadget you own came from their company. Look at your phone, that’s a product of the Azazel Company,” Sheena replied.

“Oh, I didn’t know that they’re that popular,” Joffiel said.

“Yes, but when I said that I wanted to work for them to Mom, she said that I should not do that,” Sheena said.

“Really, why is that?” Joffiel asked.

“I don’t know, maybe she doesn't want me to work in a technology company? Well obviously, she wanted me to work in their company,” Sheena said.

“Oh, that’s why. This is just my second day at the company but I think they are really good at handling people,” Joffiel said.

“Then that’s good, though you would become busy at your job,” Sheena said in a sad tone.

Joffiel comforted Sheena. She said, “Don’t worry, in our company, we could only work for six hours and we could go home already. So I have plenty of time left, that’s why I’m also considering the work that your Mom told me about. It’s during the night time so we still have time for us to do things together.”

Sheena smiles. She said, “Really? That’s great.”

“Did your Mom go to work already?” Joffiel asked.

“Yup, like thirty minutes ago,” Sheena answered.

“Then I’ll get more information for her tomorrow about the job,” Joffiel said.

“I’m really amazed at how you see things positively. What’s more amazing is that you’re not even looking tired at all even with lots of work and lots of things you’re thinking about,” Sheena said.

“I also don’t know, I just know that the Creator will help me in everything,” Joffiel said.

“So that’s your secret power, huh?” Sheena said.

Both of them laugh. They spend time together watching videos on social media and learning new things. After some time, Sheena went to her room already.

The Azazel Company, I think there’s nothing wrong with them. The only problem would be Ashe, she’s a demon but she’s different on the outside. She’s not that aggressive. I need to find out more about them, but I hope it’s not something bad since most of the people in that company are innocent. Joffiel thought deeply.
