Chapter 26Jesse
It’d been past one by the time they’d carted the last batch of inebriated guests back to the ranch and almost one forty-five by the time Jesse finally went to sleep. So when she bolted awake after another dream of two Julia’s, with the real one fading as soon as she touched her, Jesse was surprised to see that it was barely past three o’clock.
After tiptoeing to the bathroom and back, she paused in front of Nicole’s door. It was closed, of course, but behind it she could hear something akin to muffled moaning. Carefully she turned the knob and pushed the door open just enough to peek in. Nicole had left the curtains open and with the dim light coming in, Jesse could make out Nicole’s figure, buried as she was under a tangle of sheets and comforter.
“No…no…please…” Nicole
