Larani checked her display screens and found two small fighters closing in behind her. They were coming fast, right on her tail. When she looked up, the mountains filled her window. All she could see was gray rock with a light dusting of snow. Alarms wailed as one of her enemies fired particle weapons at her.
She thumbed the hat-switch.
Her shuttle slid down a few metres, and two streaks of orange plasma raced past above her, speeding off into the distance and striking the side of the mountain. She was running out of space.
Larani pulled up, and the mountains fell away to be replaced with a blue sky full of wispy clouds. The artificial gravity minimized the strain as she performed a vertical loop. Rocky ground came into view, and then she was right behind her enemy as they both flew
