Her phone rings. “Hello…, who is on the line?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “It's Mrs. Elizabeth, your friend,” Mrs. Elizabeth said. “Oh, good afternoon Mrs. Elizabeth. Have you changed your sim card?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “Yes ma. The one I have before got misplaced,” Mrs. Elizabeth said. “Sorry for that ma. How are you doing today?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “I am fine ma, and you?” Mrs. Elizabeth said. “I am also fine ma. Is anything the problem?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “No ma. My husband wants to see Joyce after service on Sunday, so he asked me to make you aware,” Mrs. Elizabeth said. “I see. I hope there is no problem?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “There is no problem. Just disclose what I said to Joyce,” Mrs. Elizabeth said. “Okay, I will. Is there any other thing you want to say?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “No ma. We shall be expecting her. Tell her to come to our house,” Mrs. Elizabeth said. “Okay ma. How was work today?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “It was fine ma. How about you?” Mrs. Elizabeth said. “It was also fine. Lest I forget, how is your health now?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “I thank God ma. I have fully recovered. Thanks for your care,” Mrs. Elizabeth said. “You are welcome ma. Glory be to God. I hope the children are fine?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “Yes ma. They are away to school,” Mrs. Elizabeth said. “Okay ma. Send my regards to them when they come back from school,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “Okay ma, I will. Have a nice day ma,” Mrs. Elizabeth said. “Amen ma. Goodbye,” Mrs. Evelyn said. (Joyce walks in) “Good afternoon mum,” Joyce said. “You are back. How was school today?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “It was fine mum. Hope you had a great sale today?” Joyce said. “We thank God Dr. Go and drop your bag so that you can eat your lunch thereafter,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “Okay mum,” Joyce said and walked away to dropped her bag. “(Holding a plate of spaghetti) mum, the spaghetti is still much in the pot. Are you sure you have eaten? Joyce said and sat down beside Mrs. Evelyn. “Yes I have eaten. I ate little portion though. You know my disdain for spaghetti,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “(Smiles) Why do you see spaghetti as children food mum? Joyce said and took a spoon of spaghetti. “Spaghetti is meant for children because it is too soft for my liking. Foods like pounded yam are for the matured adults like me. I prefer macaroni to spaghetti,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “Okay mum. You are right. So I can finish the remaining spaghetti inside the pot?” Joyce said with smiles. “Yes you can. You are known for your gluttonous-natured, Mrs. Evelyn teased. “Mum, you have started again,” Joyce said with smiles. “Lest I forget, Mrs. Elizabeth's husband want to see you in his house on Sunday,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “I hope there is no problem mum?” Joyce said and took the last spoon of spaghetti. “No Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth told me on phone before you entered,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “Alright mum. I will go there after service on Sunday,” Joyce said. “Good. I want to go and take nap. I am very tired,” Mrs. Evelyn said and stood up. “I will join you soon. I want to have shower first,” Joyce said. “Okay Dr,” Mrs. Evelyn said and walked away. (Someone knocks at the door) “Who is there? The door is unlocked,” Joyce said. “(Enters) Joyce, good afternoon,” Sandra said. “Sandy baby, how are you?” Joyce said. “I am fine. What about you?” Sandra said and sat down. “I am also fine. I hope you are not choked up from today's stress in school?” Joyce said. “Yes, I am choked up,” Sandra said. “Sorry babe. I am also tired. I just finished eating and about going to the bathroom before you came in,” Joyce said. I see,” Sandra said. “Is anything the problem?” Joyce said. “Problem? No, there is no problem. Is it a crime to visit one's friend and classmate unannounced?” Sandra said. “C'mon. I was only shocked by this unorthodox visit,” Joyce said and laughed. “Actually, mum has travelled…,” Sandra said and Joyce cuts in. “Travelled? To where?” Joyce said. “Mum travelled to buy some goods. Have you forgotten mum owns a boutique?” Sandra said. “Oh, I wasn’t thinking from that angle. I hope she will to stay long so that her only daughter will not continue to cry every night,” Joyce teased. “You are out of your senses Joyce. Who told you that I do cry in the night? I am now a grown up you know,” Sandra said with smiles. “Grown up indeed. As if she is the elder here, Joyce said. “Just because you are older than me with just a month, you are claiming to be the elder. You are not serious Joyce,” Sandra said. “Did you just call a month? Do you know what can happen within a month? Sandra, learn to be respectful these days,” Joyce said and laughed. “I am not here for your cheap jokes. Where is mum?” Sandra said. “She is taking a nap, you know how her job can be very tiring,” Joyce said. “You are right. Extend my regards to her when she wakes up,” Sandra said. “Okay Sandy baby. I hope you have eaten?” Joyce said. “Yes, I have eaten. I branched a restaurant when I was coming back from school,” Sandra said. “Restaurant? Don’t you cook?” Joyce said. “I cook. Mum gave me money to buy food at a restaurant in the afternoon. I only cook food in the morning and evening,” Sandra said. “That is good. How is Dad?” Joyce said. “He is fine. He has been so busy in his place of work these days,” Sandra said. “I see. Hope you are feeding him well?” Joyce said. “Trust me. Dad has allergies for certain foods though,” Sandra said. “Please, always prepare his favorites,” Joyce said. “Okay babe,” Sandra said. “Send my regards to him when he comes back from work,” Joyce said. “Okay, I will. Do you have anything someone can munch?” Sandra said. “Something like?” Joyce said. “Don’t be too daft Joyce. I am hungry,” Sandra said. “You like food a lot,” Joyce said and laughed. “You have started again. You behave as if you don’t eat,” Sandra said. “Well, mum prepared spaghetti. Do you love that?” Joyce said. “Wow! One of my favorites. Get me the food Joyce,” Sandra said. “Okay Dr,” Joyce said and walked away.     Soon, Joyce came out holding a plate of spaghetti. She handed the food to Sandra. “Thank you babe,” Sandra said as she collected the food. “You are welcome Dr. I told you hitherto that I want to shower up. Can I go now, Joyce said. “Why not? But before that, I need a glass of water,” Sandra said. “I am sorry. Let me get you a glass of cold water,” Joyce said and walked to the refrigerator. “(Collects the glass of cold water) Thank you for the gestures babe. God bless you,” Sandra said. “Amen. I want to go now. Make yourself comfortable. It is your home,” Joyce said and walked to the bathroom.     Soon, Joyce walked to sitting room after dressing up. Sandra has finished eating before Joyce came out. “You’ve finished eating?” Joyce teased. “Do you want me to use eternity before I finish consuming this food? Besides spaghetti is one of my favorites. Thanks for the food though,” Sandra said. “(Smiles) Welcome Sandra,” Joyce said. (Mrs. Evelyn walked to the sitting room) “Good evening ma,” Sandra said. “Sandra, how are you? Mrs. Evelyn said and sat down. “I am fine ma. Joyce told me you were having nap,” Sandra said. “Yes Dr. How is mum and dad?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “They are fine ma. Mum travelled though,” Sandra said. “Mum travelled?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “Yes ma. She went to buy some goods, you know she owns a boutique,” Sandra said. “Yeah. I hope she won’t stay long?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “No, she won’t. She should be home by next week, Sandra said. “Okay. Joyce, I hope you have given something to your friend to eat?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “Yes mum,” Joyce said. “Yes, she gave me spaghetti. Thank you for the food ma. I really enjoyed it,” Sandra said. “Thank God. It is 5:00pm already. We need to start cooking,” Mrs. Evelyn said and stood up. “Mum, I will join you soon,” Joyce said. “Okay Dr,” Mrs. Evelyn said and walked outwards. “I think I have to go now so that you can assist mum in the cooking,” Sandra said. “As you wished Sandra. Thank you for the company,” Joyce said. “You are welcome babe I want to go now,” Sandra said and stood up. “Alright, let me see you off,” Joyce said and the two friends walked out. “Are you going?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “Yes mum,” Sandra said. “Okay Dr. Don’t forget to greet your daddy for me,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “Okay ma,” Sandra said. “Mum, I want to see Sandra off. I will join you in the cooking soon,” Joyce said. “Okay Dr. Don’t stay long,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “Alright mum,” Joyce said and walked Sandra off.
