CHAPTER SEVENTEEN Eva did not have to turn around to feel the malevolence directed at her from the other side of the portal. “What do you want now?” she demanded, not caring if she was facing her final doom or not. Her head hurt too much. The air around her began to turn frigid. The cloud she had presumed was high up in the sky continued to billow out around her, reaching the tops of the warehouses but evidently not much higher. The portal blinked into existence, a ruined eye attempting to watch her. The creature drew back, what must have been a great distance, for her to behold its full shape.
