The hunter's daughter

Chapter 4

Reggie said goodbye to Monica and Lucian the morning that he had to leave. Monica was sad and Lucian was sleepy. He looked at them lovingly. He wished he could bring them with him, they were a target even in the pack. Reggie only hoped he could find his brother and request to join his pack. It had to be better than the one with Alpha Ashley. He tied his scarf around his neck. Monica had made him one with thier initials on it. It was her way of marking him so unmated she-wolfs wouldn't be interested in him. Reggie knew there was no other women that he was interested in but he wore the scarf to give them both comfort. Alpha Barron waited for Reggie at the pack house. He had a large vehicle to take them through the mountains. There was a chance that they could encounter rogues on the journey. Alpha Barron had a few guards travel with them. He had left a few guards with Monica. He was still worried for Monica and her son being in Alpha Ashley's pack. He would have allowed them to join his pack but it was a Lycan one. Lycans did not welcome strangers or many werewolves. The only exception was if they were mates to a Lycan. Alpha Barron knew if he found his 2nd chance mate she would be welcomed in the pack. He could wait to find her but he needed to get Reggie and his family away from Alpha Ashley. They drove through the mountains and were headed towards the valleys. The bold moon pack was located between the valleys and the mountains. It was an isolated and private pack that had been peaceful. The pack had been small until recently when many new members joined. The new pack members had been rogues or outcasts from other packs. Reggie's brother had been one of them. He was able to find an important position in the pack. He was treated better in this pack. They arrived at the border and waited until guards approached them.

"We are here to see Baldwin Cooper" Alpha Barron told the guards.

"Who are you?" the guard asked them.

"I'm Alpha Barron Lucian Lycan of the Lycan kingdom. This is Baldrick Cooper, Baldwin's brother" Alpha Barron announced.

The guard mind linked someone then nodded at them.

"Alright you can go through. Alpha Baldwin will be waiting for you" the guard told them.

Reggie looked at Alpha Barron with surprise, his brother was an Alpha. Alpha Barron was surprised too but didn't show it. He hoped this was a positive sign that the pack wasn't dealing with rogues or hunters. They kept driving until they reached a modest building that was only 2 stories high. It was able to accommodate the packs food and supplies. There were a dozen cottages close by and a few more being built. It looked like everyone was getting things ready for new members. Reggie searched for his brother and found him assisting the pack with building. Reggie went towards him with a sense of pride. His brother was an Alpha and was far better than Alpha Ashley.

"Brother, it has been a long time" Reggie called out to him.

"Baldrick, I was wondering if you would visit me. What do you think, I was made Alpha after the last one retired. The pack was grateful for a new Alpha after the rogue attacks that killed thier heir" Baldwin told him.

"I think it's wonderful, you make a great Alpha. I am hoping that you could allow me and my family to join. I have a mate and son now. We are still being treated unfairly by Alpha Ashley" Reggie admitted to him.

"I am happy that you have a family now. I don't know if we can accept you at this time, there's many new members that we are renovating for. I know what Alpha Ashley is like and I want you and your family away from that asshole. I will let you know when we have a place" Baldwin told him.

He looked at Reggie and then at the rest of his group.

"Is that all you wanted to ask me? Is there more than you wanting to join my pack?" Baldwin asked Reggie.

"I don't have more to ask you but Alpha Barron does. Alpha Barron Lucian Lycan of the royal Lycan kingdom this is Baldwin Cooper, Alpha of the bold moon pack" Reggie introduced them.

"It's a pleasure to meet your highness. You will have to excuse our work; we are trying to finish renovating before winter sets in. There's so many new members to settle into thier homes" Baldwin told Alpha Barron.

"That's understandable. I had to come here and see how the pack was doing. We had reports of it dealing with rogues and even hunters. It doesn't seem to be the case" Alpha Barron told him.

"We don't make deals with rogues unless they wish to join the pack. We have had a few attacks but nothing we couldn't handle. I haven't seen any hunters this far into the mountains. I wouldn't allow them to come here. Don't know why anyone would want to allow those blood thirsty savages to deal with a pack" Baldwin told him.

"I personally know from experience that hunters have worked with packs. I am relieved that you haven't allowed them here" Alpha Barron told him.

"You have encountered hunters? That must have been a bad experience" Baldwin asked him.

"Yes, that's where I met your brother and his 2nd chance mate" Alpha Barron told him.

Alpha Barron then told Baldwin his experience about being captive and forced to fight werewolves at the death arena. Baldwin was shocked and relieved that he had gotten away from them.

"So, my brother and his mate helped you escape?" he asked with pride. His brother was a fighter too.

"We had to or Alpha Ashley would have tortured us. We wanted to be accepted as mates by the pack. We are glad we helped but we are still being treated unfairly by the pack. This is why I wish for us to join your pack" Reggie told him.

"I will try to find a place for your family soon. The way the renovations are going we won't be done before winter. I promise I will let you know before then" Baldwin promised his brother.

"I hope I hear from you soon. It was good to see you, brother" Reggie told him.

"Yes, it was good to meet you. It's nice to see an Alpha that cares for all his pack members. I am relieved that the reports were false but we must go and find the real traitors" Alpha Barron told Baldwin.

"Thankyou, your highness. Come back and visit anytime. I must get back to work. Goodbye" Baldwin told them.

Reggie and Alpha Barron left the pack and headed back towards the harvest moon pack. Alpha Barron wondered why he had received false reports about Baldwin's pack. He started feeling worried. Something seemed wrong, he knew they had to get back to Monica and Lucian. Reggie started to sense something was wrong too.

"Do you think someone would give us false reports about Baldwin's pack to cover the truth. Could this have been a way for someone to cover thier tracks" Reggie wondered out loud.

"I don't know what's going on but I plan to uncover the truth" Alpha Barron told him.

"I just hope we can find out before someone has the rogue fighters attacking other packs" Reggie admitted.

"It does seem like someone is trying to get the rogue fighters attacking packs. It shouldn't put you and your family in danger. Luckily, I have made sure that they are protected, just in case" Alpha Barron told him.

Reggie started to agree then became afraid. He felt something was wrong with Monica.

"Monica, something's wrong. We need to go faster; we need to get there before it's too late" Reggie cried.

Alpha Barron was scared for him. He would make sure they arrived back in record time.
