The hunter's daughter

Chapter 6

Alpha Ashley barked orders at his guards. He told them to increase the patrol and seek out the rogues. He wanted to look like a responsible Alpha. He had worked with the rogue wolf's before but never for them to attack his own pack. He hoped his sister had something to do with it. He could easily shift the blame to her if a rogue was caught. He had other plans that he didn't want ruined by rogues attacking his pack. How could he convince Alpha Barron that he was important if the rogues attacked him? He also wanted to banish Reggie and his mate and mutt but a rogue attack wouldn't give him a reason to banish them. He would instead be investigated as a suspect behind the rogue attack. He didn't need that attention, he wanted to be looked at she wolves and important members of the Lycan kingdom. His sister was trying to be important too but her way wasn't helping him.

'Ashley, what are you doing? Do we need to capture the rogues alive? They failed to take that w***e and her mutt. We should let them go. They weren't here after anything else. We don't need to go after them' Alyssa told her brother through mind link.

He had to talk to her through mind link so no one else could hear thier conversation.

'Alyssa, did you send the rogues after Reggie's mate and mutt? If you did, you made a big mistake. Alpha Barron will only want to protect the losers more. I have to go after the rogues otherwise it will look suspicious. I won't need them alive; I just have to make sure they don't tell anyone that I have been paying them to attack other packs' Alpha Ashley told her.

'So, what if I did. No one will believe them. Besides the attack won't look like you did it. We weren't paying them to attack us. They can't prove that we had them attack a member of the pack' Alyssa tried to assure him.

'The Lycan kingdom will believe Alpha Barron and he knows I don't care for Reggie or his family. They will suspect that I had paid the rogues to attack and they won't stop until they prove it. They might even find out all the times I paid for other packs to get attacked. I even paid some hunters to free rogues and hunt other wolfs. These hunters are the same ones that capture and torture wolf's for entertainment. I suspect they had something to do with Alpha Barron's capture. If they found this out, I would be tortured and stripped of my Alpha title. So, if they capture a rogue alive, I'm blaming you' Alpha Ashley stated.

After he shut off his mind link, he left his sister to worry about thier situation. They both hoped that there were no rogues captured and there was no prove of a paid attack. Alpha Barron had made sure there were more guards at Reggie's house and was going to investigate the attack. He knew that Alpha Ashley was a careless leader but didn't think he was dumb. He would have covered his connection with the rogues and he wouldn't want any of them alive. Alpha Barron decided he would need to search for the rogues himself. If he could try and talk to one, he could give them a deal. He would spare thier life if they testified against Alpha Ashley and his sister. He told a few of his guards to join him and they set off in search of the rogues. Alpha Barron hoped that he had the chance to capture one alive, then he could charge Alpha Ashley with treason. Just as Alpha Barron was about to run off, he heard an annoying voice behind him.

"Alpha Barron, wait I'll go with you" Alpha Ashley called after him.

"I'll be fine capturing rogues by myself" Alpha Barron told him.

"I will like to capture them myself. I thought that we could do it together" Alpha Ashley insisted.

"I prefer to work alone. You can go with one of my guards" Alpha Barron told him.

"That won't be necessary, I will be following you" Alpha Ashley told him.

"I won't be running slowly and I won't be waiting for you" Alpha Barron told him.

"That won't be a problem. I can keep up" Alpha Ashley insisted.

"You can try to follow me but stay out of my way. Once I capture some rogues, you're not to talk to them, first" Alpha Barron commanded him.

"Yes, Alpha Barron" Alpha Ashley told him.

He knew that he couldn't stop Alpha Barron from finding a rogue first but maybe he could prevent them from saying anything. Alpha Ashley watched as Alpha Barron shifted and took off through the forest. He started to smell around him before picking up a trail that headed towards a clearing. Alpha Barron ran towards it quickly and continued following the smell of the rogues. He was able to catch the smell better than most wolves because he was Lycan and royal. He picked up a strong scent and followed it. They must not be too far and they weren't covering their tracks. The forest was still part of the harvest moon pack so the rogues should have moved far from it by now. Alpha Barron discovered a hidden camp and saw that some rogues had been living there in Alpha Ashley's pack lands. They both shifted back. Alpha Ashley pretended to look shocked, he knew that the rogues had been living on his pack lands. He hoped Alpha Barron believed that he was surprised to see them there. Alpha Barron didn't believe it, he looked at Alpha Ashley with disappointment.

"Who is in charge of these rogues? I wish to talk to them" Alpha Barron yelled at Alpha Ashley.

"There is no leader, they came here uninvited. I was trying to let them leave peacefully but now that they attacked my pack members they will leave or die" Alpha Ashley lied.

"Who's in charge here?" Alpha Barron yelled at the rogues in the camp.

Some of them were still in wolf form and others were getting ready to fight. There were a few who were trying to leave but Alpha Barron had his guards surround the camp.

"Tell me who is in charge and I will let you live. Fight me and you will die. I am Alpha Barron Lucian Lycan of the Lycan kingdom. You will obey me" he yelled at them.

The rogues looked at each other and tried not to look at Alpha Ashley, he was trying to shake his head so it would seem like he wasn't their leader.

"We don't have a leader" one of the clean looking rogues replied.

"Then whose idea was it to attack the pack. Who lets you stay here on the pack lands?" Alpha Barron asked them.

He knew that he was going to get the truth from them, even with Alpha Ashley there.

"No one allows us to stay here. We can do what we want. We are our own leaders and we attack anyone that gets in our way" the young rogue told him.

Alpha Barron looked at the smug boy with disgust. He was going to teach them all not to disrespect him. He nodded to his guards and the rogues were soon being held captive.

"You are all my prisoners. I will have you escorted back to the dungeons where you are to be tortured. Unless you tell me the truth and I spare your miserable lives" Alpha Barron demanded.

His guards quickly took the rogues away and he ordered the camp to be destroyed. Alpha Ashley watched thankful that the boy hadn't given Alpha Barron the truth. He knew that once they were in the dungeon, the truth was going to come out. He had to make sure to shift most of the blame on his sister and the other wolf packs, including Baldwin's pack. He just had to make sure that the rogues were unable to say anything else.
