A man and a woman entered the room as soon as Luna left. I wonder where she is right now, as they haven't instructed us to get out of our rooms yet. I hope she's just fine wherever she is right now.
The two were wearing formal attire, with a tie, while I am still wearing a comfortable white t-shirt and paired with a black jogger pants with a white linings on both sides. I look so unprofessional standing next to them, but I only have comfortable clothes in my luggage, so I couldn't do anything about it.
The man is holding a suitcase, and the other was just tracing the whole room with her eyes, like studying the place. But even though they were both wearing formal clothes, there's something that seems to be out of order here. They looked like someone that is not a professional, I mean, I am not judging anyone here, but I feel like they are just both normal people, and that this is not their job.
I have seen so many professional people as I am in line with the entertainment industry, and I have been with different personalities, known and unknown individuals, and I can tell if someone's lying with their status using their choice of clothing.
The reality that I am alone with these two makes me more nervous than ever, knowing that they might be pretending to be someone they are not.
"Hello Ms. Llaine Eqolla. I am Troy, " The man with a blue tie said in front of me, fixing his tie with his right hand.
"My name's Lydia." She's wearing eyeglasses, which I don't think have any grade. It's like she's using it to look more professional and to make an accent on her dress code, wearing a blue suit, and also with a tie. Her hair's on a bun. And she's now staring at me.
"We are not here to interrogate you, nor hear your statements. We have heard everything that we needed to hear from the other two witnesses." The man stated firmly and with seriousness, looking through my eyes.
"How can I help you, then?" I am trying to look fine outside, trying to hide what I am really feeling right now. I am so nervous, and in fear, but I shouldn't let them see it, because they can use my weakness to pull me down, and I know a lot of people who do that. I have encountered so many bashers in this field of work that I have chosen, and I have so much idea on how they'll try to bring you down for one single mistake that they have seen. So it is better to hide all of these feelings in front of them.
"We are just here to inform you that we had wrapped out the case, and the culprit is already dead."
"Dead? Did you kill anyone?"
"Life is to Life Ms. Llaine. It means if someone robbed a life, he or she must pay it with his or her own life. That's how the world should work. But I am not saying that we killed him, ourselves."
So, you didn't kill him, but one of you, the Island staff, did. Is that how you really want to solve the case? I mean, there are ways to get him accountable for what he did, but death was your answer.
"He tried to escape, and even tried to kill those who were after him, that is why he got killed. If you ever heard the sound of the gunfire outside, it's him that we're trying to captivate.
We almost lost another precious life because of him, and to stop that from happening, we need to do it first, and that's how he was killed. And to kill him is not the very first option that we have."
Why am I feeling that they didn't consider other options other than killing him? They are not being reasonable enough.
"And just to inform you Ms. Llaine, we had sent the body of the man who died last night, back to his hometown."
Wait a minute, are they reporting on me now? Why do I feel like they are just reporting everything to me? I mean, why are they telling me these things? Do I really need to know these things, because I think, it's not. But even though I don't need to know that, It's good to hear that they have sent him out--
Wait. How did they send him back? As far as I know, the only way out to this Island is by air travel. I haven't heard any sound of air transportation from here, so how come? Are you just making up stories? What are you up to, people?
"We know that you are scared about what you have witnessed, and is concerned about the man who died. And according to our investigation last night, he was shot to death."
No. Quinn said you didn't even investigate how he died. And if he died of a gunshot, we should have heard it, we were just there last night. We should have heard the gunfire, but we didn't. It was quiet last night, and we didn't hear anything other than when the culprit was dragging the other, and then the sound of the water flowing down from the shower head.
What are you two really up to and the management of this island? It's bothering me.
"May I know where he was shot?" Curiosity hit me, and I couldn't stand their lie. We were talking about someone's life here, but they are not taking it seriously.
They were both eyeing me, but I caught the man grinned. He turned his back on me, and I watched him walk towards the table behind him which we had used earlier, and placed his suitcase there, on top of the table.
I am watching him while the woman is just staring at me, with those suspicious stares she was pointing at me. I don't feel good about this.
"Ms. Llaine, we have provided you with information which must not be disclosed to anyone, and yet you're asking another question."
"Sorry? It is the first time I had asked somethi-"
He glared at me, and it gave me goosebumps all over my body. What the f**k. His eyes were so fierce and I could feel the intensity of his stares.
" Do You know why the world is in chaos right now, Ms. Llaine?" I didn't answer him. I couldn't. I was lost for words.
"It's because people don't know how to have contentment." He slowly opened up his suitcase, which is alarming me now. I don't know what's inside that case, and I don't think it's the right time to be curious about that.
I took a step backward, and I know they have noticed that. Are they going to kill me here? Right now? What the f**k. What did I do wrong to deserve this? I want to shout for help, but it might trigger them, so I should not do that. But what the hell can I do right now? They might just kill me here, without anyone knowing. Luna's not here to tell me what to do, and I am so scared right now.
*Knock *knock
There was a loud knock on the other side of the door which gained their attention. They both looked towards each other before checking on me at the same time with their eyes.
*Knock *knock
It's getting louder and the person outside seemed like they were losing their patience.
"Someone's looking for the both of you downstairs. They need you as soon as possible."
It's Luna. That's her voice. There's a sudden lump in my throat, and I feel like crying, but I need to hold it.
They are not moving. They stayed still, looking at me with those scary gazes, but seconds later, the door opened in front of all of us, without anyone moving.
"I'm sorry to interrupt your discussions, but someone really needs you down there. At the lobby."
Luna came in, and she's still as calm as ever, holding my laptop in her left hand, while the other was holding the door knob.
"Alright." The man said, closing up his suitcase again. There was a hint of disappointment in his voice.
"By the way, We are also here to inform you that you can already go out tomorrow. Have a great night." With a one glance towards me, they both left after, and Luna locked the door as soon as she made sure that the both of them vanished in the hallway.
I slumped down on the floor. My knees don't have the strength to stand right now, my tears started falling and I don't have the strength to even wipe them away.
Luna came rushing towards me, and started tapping my back.
"It's alright. I'm here." I feel like I became a child right now. I was just too scared. For the first time in my life, I got so scared being alone. I've been living alone for five years now, but this is the very first time I wished someone was beside me this badly.
"It's alright now Llaine. But we need to be strong. I told you it wasn't safe here, now, it's really not safe." I don't know if she's just making me feel great, or fine, but I'm getting even more scared with what she's saying.
"Someone had died again." I know. They had just told me that, and they were the one who killed him.
"That woman. The other witness of the crime is dead."
What the hell is happening?
"I saw her inside her room, from the CCTV footage that I have acquired from hacking. She's lying there, on the floor, as Blood's flowing around her."
