"Where are you going?" Luna closed her laptop, and stood up from her bed, with those eyes full of annoyance and anger.
"Somewhere. I need to unwind."
"But we're not yet allowed t-"
"I don't care." She's really decided to get out even with this kind of situation we are in right now. She's not the usual Luna that I know. Her eyes are blazing with anger, and I know I couldn't change her mind.
But I wish her safety.
"I'll be back." I watched her walk through the doorway, facing her back to me, and the silence echoed all over the room after she closed the door behind her.
I sighed. Now, I am all alone in this creepy place, with the sound of thunder outside, and the nearly subsided rain. I thought it would be nice and safe if I am alone. I also thought that being alone could give me some peace of mind, but it didn't and it's just getting creepier than when Luna's here.
I pulled out a water bottle which I had brought with me from my house, from the cabinet on my bedside table to mend my thirst and to help me calm down.
There's nothing else I can do here, so I better just look up on my laptop and edit my past videos to keep myself away from overthinking.
I placed the water bottle on the floor and dragged my backpack towards me which was just on the floor, under the bed, and took out my laptop from it. I pulled one pillow from the bed so I can use my laptop while sitting on the floor. I haven't used this for a while now, and I am missing my normal life, my own house, my Mom, and the life I have in the city. I have already forgotten the feeling of being at ease, and having peace of mind, ever since I landed here.
I placed the laptop on my lap, above the pillow, and opened it up. But in the middle of typing the password of my laptop, I stopped.
If there's so many hidden cameras in here, they might see me putting the password of my laptop, and could see all my files once they found it out. They might hack this, just like what Luna was doing, and I couldn't afford to be hacked by someone. I have so many precious memories here, and I can't just let it all be seen by anyone.
As I am aware of the cameras, I closed it as fast as I could and put it back inside my bag. It's useless. They're watching every inch of my movement, and it's getting into my nerves.
Why can't Luna just hack every camera in here then stop it from working and getting a video of us? She might be capable of doing that. Where are you now, Luna? I hope you're just fine unwinding somewhere..
"Someone's going towards here." I looked up, and saw Luna on the door. My brow suddenly went up as I looked in her direction.
"I thought you're -"
"Never mind." She said, and locked the door fast, and ran towards her bed, picking up her laptop as fast as she could and opened it up. Who's going here?
A knock on the door pulled me back to reality. I slid back the bag under my bed and stood up slowly, waiting for Luna's go signal to open the door.
"Wait, Just don't open it yet. I need to check it first." She's typing really fast on her keyboard, and I am just watching her, waiting, while the knock on the door continuously echoes inside the room. And it's getting louder as time passes by.
"You didn't do something here on my laptop, didn't you?" My brows arched. Is she doubting me now?
"This is my first time standing after you went out. Is there any problem?"
I could tell now that she's having a problem with her laptop as she's typing so hard, and her eyebrows had formed furrows in between them. She's being frustrated about something that I don't have any knowledge about.
"s**t. This is not working. What the hell."
"Llaine Eqolla, we need you out here. If you're in there, please open the door." I heard a voice coming from outside, calling out for me.
Luna glanced at me for a while, but her gaze shifted fast towards the screen of her laptop.
"Of all this time." She said, and stood up. I don't know what's going on in her mind, but she keeps on cursing while going towards the door.
"Stay there." She opened the door slightly, and stood on the slightly opened doorway to see the person outside our room.
"Are you Ms. Llaine Eqolla?"
"No. But can I know why you're looking for her?" Even though she's pissed and in a bad mood, she still managed to ask the person politely. She's really something. She has really great control of her emotions, unlike me who can't even hide my nervousness every time I am facing difficulties.
"We need to talk to her about what she witnessed at the crime scene." Oh My God. Just Hearing the 'witness' word makes my heart pound so much. I hate this. This is what I am not looking forward to the most. I thought they weren't going to talk with us anymore, what the heck.
"You can just talk to her here, inside our room."
I want to thank Luna for what she's doing, but I can't help myself not to be suspicious about what she was doing. Why does she seem to be too drawn into this matter when it doesn't concern her at all?
"Can we see Ms. Llaine Eqolla first?"
"She's not feeling well, and she couldn't get out of the room as of the moment. If you want to talk to her about the incident, you may just come in here and do the interview inside. But if it's not possible, I'm very sorry but she can't come with you today."
She's really doing anything just to persuade them. She's even making up stories now. Yes I am not feeling well, I am really nervous, my palms are so sweaty and slightly shaking, but I can still go out and walk.
There's a silence between them for a while, no one wants to say anything. And I think the person's considering what Luna had said.
"Alright. If you insist." Did she just really persuade the woman outside?
"Thank you."
"But you need to get out of the room as we talk inside. Is that fine with you?"
Luna didn't give her answer fast, and looked in my direction first, which I don't know why.
"Alright." She said, and looked back towards the person she was talking to.
"But let us clean the room first so you can have a very comfortable conversation. You can call your other company first as we clean. Thank you." As soon as she said that, she closed the door and locked it up again without hearing the other person's opinion.
The room is clean, and she's maybe just making up excuses.
"I think my laptop has caught up with a virus." She said as soon as she closed the door. I am just watching her do her things on the corner, still standing in the same position I was standing for a while now.
"What happened?" She's now on the other side of the room, where her things are.
"It's not working, and all the footage of all the cameras is gone, and I couldn't find it in my laptop now. I think someone just hacked me."
A hacker has been hacked. What a great plot twist Luna.
"And you can't restore anything? Can't you hack what you have hacked already?"
"I can. But because there's no internet here, it'll be too hard. All the files I was using in hacking have all been destroyed by the hacker. My laptop nearly didn't open up because of the virus."
Was that really important for us now? I mean, I don't know what's happening but can it help us in our stay here? It might be really important for her as she's looking so down and serious right now.
"How important is that for us, Luna?"
She directed her gaze towards me, and I can see her normal stare again, with those blank eyes which I couldn't read.
"It's very important Llaine. It's our eyes and ears from the outside." She said. She might know something that I don't, as she was so sure about everything that she's saying.
"Do you perhaps have a copy of your files? Like in a flash drive or some storage you might have stored a copy?"
If it's that important, I can lend her my laptop, if it can help us with our situation here.
"I always have a copy. But I can't use my laptop for that. It might get infected."
"You can use mine."
"You have your laptop with you?"
I nodded as an answer. Another noise of a knock on the door has resurfaced the room, and we both didn't even bother to look at it.
"Alright then. I will borrow that for now if it's fine with you. For now, put your things in order. If they're going to ask you things that you can't answer, just tell them that you don't know. It's better that way. Where is your knife?"
"It's here." I walked towards the cabinet and took out the knife from there.
"Give it to me." As she said, I walked towards her and gave her the knife. I must trust her for now as she has a better plan than me. I couldn't even think of anything right now, other than worrying about what they might be asking me.
She rushed to the bathroom, and I just heard the water running on the sink, she probably washed the knife. She got back fast and I just watched her putting the knife on the food cart.
"This should be safe."
"But Luna." I called her attention as I was just being bothered about one thing that concerns us both, and what we are doing right now, while someone's knocking outside.
"Why?"
"They might have seen whatever we're doing right now. There are cameras everywhere."
She stopped for a while, staring at my face, and I wonder what she's thinking right now to have that serious and not worried expression.
"Just relax yourself, and I will do the rest."
I didn't understand that, but she left the room with my laptop. And as soon as she left, My worries went up too high, and I hate what I am thinking right now, but, I have a bad feeling that… betrayal is in the air.
