A few days later.
"Warden, this is the latest tip-off." In the warden's office, Veronica respectfully handed the report to Aiden.
"Thanks." Aiden took the report and studied it carefully.
Using Veronica's past service in the Mounted Police, Aiden successfully formed a partnership with the Mounted Police.
The explicit reason given by Aiden was to deal with the hidden dangers within the prison, and the Mounted Police had long included the Skull and Bones g**g as a target for eradication, so Aiden's proposal would be of no harm to them - the risk was borne by Aiden himself anyway.
These days, Aiden has been using the connections of the Mounted Police to collect information on the Skull and Bones g**g, which was entrenched in the old city. Since the destruction of Carmela's former boss, the Bloodhands g**g, the new gangs in the old city have been dividing up the original territory and power of the Bloodhands g**g.
The Skulls are one of the gangs that have grown rapidly during this period, and the ruthless g**g leader Carlo Polpo has been instrumental in the expansion of the Skulls and has risen to the rank of senior cadre, just one step short of the leader.
However, his style of betraying and exploiting even his own people has made many members of the g**g jealous, so much so that the current leader feels that he is suspected of being too powerful for his own good.
The rapidly expanding Skull and Bones g**g, and Carlo, a gangster who has risen through the ranks of the Skull and Bones g**g, have long been included in the targets of the Mounted Police.
The mounted police team had been proliferating undercover agents and informants to the gangs to gather intelligence, and through the temporary partnership formed, Aiden had used the mounted police team to obtain quite a lot of crucial information.
"This is not going too well." Aiden casually remarked.
The more he gathered intelligence, the more he felt that the ploy provided by Melifillia was feasible.
Looking back now, it was as if Melifillia had already known about the intelligence before she provided him with such a plan.
He couldn't help but somewhat suspect that Melifillia possessed some sort of future-reading, or some special ability that could gather information from the outside world.
"Yes, the Director also said that your idea is special. He said that he could organise some insiders to cooperate with your operation."
Veronica just assumed that Aiden had come up with the ploy himself, and her admiration for her superior deepened a few more points.
"Cavalry informants and undercover agents?" Aiden leaned his body back in his chair and considered it carefully.
The Mounted Police were keen to co-operate, and it probably wasn't just because what Aiden wanted to do was in their favour.
The Mounted Police had once taken direct advantage of the setup Carlo had set up for Carmilla and sent her to prison.
But after letting Carmilla take the fall, Carlo had then used the teen's mother's vengeance to turn Silhouette into a ghoul.
In a way, the insidiousness of Carlo's tactics caught the Mounties off guard and made them accomplices in turning Silk Rhine into what she is now.
Perhaps out of guilt and anger, or perhaps eager to uncover this matter, probably the relevant person in charge on the mounted police team's side was also eager to get rid of Carlo Polpo.
It was just that, although it was convenient to use the resources of the Mounted Police's informants to obtain information, it was another matter to implement a plan with the direct help of the Mounted Police's resources.
The main enemy of the gangsters was the Mounted Police Force, their precautions were all directed at the Mounted Police Force, and when a third party force was ready to intervene, they might not necessarily be able to realise it right away.
Carlo Polpo, I'm afraid, has not learnt by now that he has offended the warden of a women's prison that he may not have anything to do with, and the other members of the Mob know next to nothing about Aiden.
Aiden had a head start on them that was unique to third-party forces, but it was the equivalent of him voluntarily giving up that advantage if he relied too heavily on the resources of the Mounted Police.
Informants or undercover agents placed by the Mounted Police might have long been suspected by the gangs that had long guarded against the police. Relying entirely on them to lay out under such a premise, he feared that it would instead cause them to be wary and alert them.
In the end, Aiden replied to Veronica, "Let's wait for a while, there might be a more suitable candidate in this regard."
"More suitable candidates?" Veronica was stunned.
At that moment, there was a sudden knock on the office door.
"Come in."
As Aiden answered, the office door was opened, and Warden Isabella walked in, and after exchanging a glance with Veronica, she saluted Aiden and reported, "Warden, the person you mentioned to me earlier came to apply for a face-to-face meeting today."
"Here to see prisoner 3271?"
"Yes."
Speak of the devil!
Aiden immediately stood up from his seat, "Very well, tell him to go to the interview room, I'll meet him first, and when I'm done you'll have someone notify Inmate 3271."
"Understood."
A few minutes later, Aiden was in the interview room.
Across the glass barrier, at the other end of the room sat the gangster teenager with a scarred face who had visited Silk Rein in prison a week ago.
Today was the first day that Silk Rhine had left her confinement, and Aiden had informed the prison guards on duty at the meeting reception side beforehand to notify him immediately if anyone claiming to be Silk Rhine's nephew applied for a meeting with Prisoner 3271.
The moment he saw Aiden, the teenager looked visibly nervous, but didn't show much surprise.
Obviously, he was somewhat mentally prepared that Aiden would come to meet him.
"I won't say any more nonsense, you wrote that letter, didn't you." Aiden stood in front of the teenager with his hands behind his back, opening the door and getting straight to the point.
After a long silence, the teenager tensed his face and nodded.
"These days, I've done a little bit of investigation, and I've sort of corroborated your story for the time being." Aiden said slowly, "But there's no point in you writing to me, Prisoner 3271 has turned into a grudge, she won't be able to hear the truth. Even if she believes it, she'll be just as unable to get her revenge."
The teenager lowered his eyes speechlessly.
"Was it also Carlo who guided Prisoner 3271 to become like this?"
Aiden asked again; after interrogating Carmilla, he had taken the opportunity to get a word in with Silain and confirmed that it was Carlo who had tricked Silain out of the pension she was holding and introduced her to the Necromancer.
The teen nodded again in silence.
"So are you still under the hand of Carlo Polpo?" Aiden asked again.
The teenager kept his head down and didn't reply.
"Don't you have a bad conscience about continuing to work for the man who once brought your own brother's family to ruin?" Aiden continued to press.
"I ...... don't have a choice." The teen replied in a frustrated voice.
Aiden stared at the teenager without further sarcasm.
It was just arrogance to try and convert someone like Carmilla, who was in an environment that was just not normal, with a few sermons.
The teenager was in a g**g and sending that snitch letter here was probably the best he could do.
"You may not have had a choice before, but now you have a chance." Aiden snapped, "You have a chance to bring down the cadre that got your brother killed."
The teen looked up at Aiden with a puzzled expression.
"I have some connections with the Mounted Police, listen up, this is a tip I just got from an undercover agent of the Mounted Police ......," Aiden slightly bent down, close to the sound piercing holes on the glass curtain wall, and said in a mysterious manner, "Carlo Polpo, is plotting to assassinate the leader of the Skull and Bones g**g, preparing to take the throne while he has the chance."
