ARIANA'S POV:
As I was unpacking my luggage, I saw a photo of my ex, Jacob, and me. I had taken it on my 21st birthday.
After a moment of staring at the picture, my phone started ringing. It was my best friend, Nancy.
I took the call.
"Hello…"
"Hi, girl! How are you?"
"Good. What about you?"
"Same… so, how's married life treating you, huh?" she asked teasingly.
"Good…"
"Just good?"
"I mean, very nice. Everything's good and nice."
"Where's your hubby now?" she chuckled.
"He's gone to work."
"To work? On the first day?! Ugh, so boring…"
"It's okay. He had an important meeting."
"What's more important than his new bride?! Okay, okay… by the way, where are you going for your honeymoon?"
"We'll think about it later… nothing so soon."
"Ugh, boring couple… made for each other."
I chuckled.
"Okay, talk to you later. Bye…"
"Bye." She cut the call.
As I was heading to the kitchen, I saw the locked door again. My feet stopped in front of it unconsciously. I bit my lip as curiosity got the best of me.
Looking around to make sure no one was there, I tried to open it, but it was locked. I peered through the keyhole, but everything was dark. I couldn't see anything.
I put my ear against the door, trying to hear what was inside, but there was nothing.
After a while, as I pulled my ear away, I heard a sound…
A woman?… A child?… Screaming…
My eyes widened in shock.
Was it something evil?
Terrified, I ran away as fast as I could.
While running, I bumped into Gabby, our maid.
"What happened, ma'am? Is everything okay?"
I couldn't tell anyone what I heard today. No one would believe me, or worse, they'd warn me to stay away.
So I nodded.
"Yeah, everything's okay. Where's the kitchen?"
"There," she pointed to the right.
"Okay…"
I went to the kitchen.
