CHAPTER 5

1793 Words
ASHER Killing my enemies has never been hard for me. It's one of the things I excel in. But keeping one alive for as long as I can? A rope tightened around my neck would be a far more better situation. Taking the enemy's daughter wasn't hard. It was even more easier than I thought. It was her questions, her tantrums that irked me. The fact that I had no reason to torture her --not yet anyways. It's her father I want -- Gabriel. I want his neck in my palm as I sink my claws deep into his neck and watch him choke on his blood. But he's a smart and tricky man. He has always been. Getting to him would mean losing almost half of my pack and I wasn't going to risk them for my revenge. The selfish part of me wants to, but what makes me a leader if I'm clouded by my selfishness. Just when I thought it would be a very boring and infuriating journey, I get an unexpected visit. More like an attempted rescue or whatever her mate thought he was doing bringing three of his men along with him. They were brought to me by my guards in a very pitiful state and I hadn't even touched them yet. The information I needed, he gave me easily as he watched me take the life of each of his men after every question. I never promised to spare his life but as a fool that he was, he thought I would after answering my questions and swearing his loyalty to me. But I don't show mercy to betrayers. He was leaving Alyssa's fate in my hands just so he could live. He never wanted to be connected to her in the first place. He just wanted the title. He wanted her father's place. He was only mating her just so he could be the next Alpha. He was just like Gabriel and that was why I killed him right in front of her. It wasn't the same as killing her father but it was close. I watched her crumble in tears as she stared at the lifeless body of her mate. Her once blazing hazel eyes that shone with fury whenever she glared at me was suddenly dulled in sorrow and pain. It was somewhat infuriating watching her cry for someone who had sentenced her fate to me. A fate everyone knew would be death. I had her assigned guards, Zach and Lucas, take her back to her new cell --one of the rooms in my house. I needed to keep a closer eye on her and keep anyone else coming to try and save her unaware of her new location. No one would ever think I would keep her in one of my rooms. The plan is find an opening to strike. I need Gabriel to be clouded by his desperation to get his daughter back. After all, she's his only child and only surviving member of his family. It's just him and her and so he would do anything to get her back. Just one single misstep. That's all I need. Talking to her wasn't part of the plan in any way and so I wonder why I had gone to see her after Loise had told me she'd ordered her to call for me. I needed no information from her. I just needed her to live till I get to kill Gabriel and then I'd kill her afterwards. It's that simple, yet I lean on her door and watch her rant about wanting to go back to her old cell. I was somewhat amazed. What prisoner would prefer to go back to a dirty, cold and dark cell than stay in a comfortable room? This one right here. Daughter of Gabriel Rowles, my greatest nemesis. I inform her of the room being her new cell and watch as shock takes over her facial expression. Her dazzling hazel eyes going slightly wide, "Excuse me?" She'd said. As much as I had wanted to end the discussion, seeing her speechless with a shocked expression had me pushing away from the door and closing the distance between us. I repeated myself, walking forward as I informed her about who would be around her and how she wouldn't be able to leave the room except on my command. She moved a few steps back as I got into her space, our height difference now obvious as I stared down at her. Her brows settled in an angry furrow as she ranted again about me ruining her life or something like that but my focus was on her face. Our proximity had given me a closer look and my traitorous eyes wandered from her round eyes to her small straight nose and then to her smooth cheeks. A slight breeze from the open window blew a loose strand of her bonded white hair and I watched it lay on her cheek. I tried not to stray further down and rose my eyes back to hers, expecting a weird look on her face for staring at her for so long but instead I found her staring as well. I fought back the smile that threatened to lighten up my face and then called her out. Her eyes snapped back to mine and I could see she was very close to shrinking away after being caught. I didn't even realize I had called her name wrong until she told me her correct name. I almost let out a wide smile but I quickly comported myself. I needed to leave before I did something I didn't want to do, and so I told her what was what, turned and left immediately. Now, I'm rushing back into that same room again minutes later with Loise running behind me. I push open the door and pause at the sight before me. The bed... it wasn't a bed anymore. It was moved from its former position all the while looking like it was shredded with small knives. Every gods' damned piece. "She's over there." Loise says from behind me. I turn to the left and find her sitting by the window with her knees to her chest and her arms around them as she stares into space. She had destroyed the mirror as well. I stood staring at her and watched as her gaze finally zeroed on me. Her lips stretched in a cold, empty smile as she slowly rose to her feet and sauntered over to me. Her hair was a mess as almost half of it had left the band she had used to tie it behind her neck. She stopped a few inches away from me with that smile still on her face, "Now, isn't this much better?" I narrowed my eyes at her and took a step forward but she didn't flinch, "You're still staying here." I said in a low and malicious voice, but her smile only grew wider as she whispered, "I know." I squeezed my fingers into a tight fist and relaxed my face. She was only trying to rile me up and I wasn't going to let her win. My eyes drop down to her hands and I paused for a second. Her right hand was dripping with blood coming out from her knuckles but what caught my attention were her claws. That must have been what she had used to shred the bed into pieces. Without another word to her, I turned back to Loise who was still standing behind me with her hands in front of her and her head slightly bowed, "Tell your head to take care of this and make sure you wrap her bloody hand or else I'll have your head on a plate. Is that understood?" "Yes, ofcourse." She answers with a dip of her head. Just as I began to leave the room, Alyssa shouted, "I can f*****g take care of myself!" But that wasn't any of my concern. I had given out an order and if Loise failed to carry it out, she'll face the consequences. ~~~ I burst open my study room's door and stomped inside, not sparing the startled man sitting on the couch in the corner of the room a glance and just went over to my desk. Placing my hands on the table, I dropped my head between my shoulders and released an aggravated sigh. f*****g plan! "What the f**k happened, man?" Kai's voice boomed with curiosity and maybe a bit of worry as he left the couch and got closer to me. He knew better than to touch me and just waited till I was ready to respond to him. After a few seconds, I rose my head and stared out the window right across my desk. What have I gotten myself into? I should have killed her on the spot. In a normal circumstance, it would have been her dead body Zach and Lucas would have been dragging out. It was the plan. It had to be the plan that had stopped me from acting without thinking. I pushed away from the desk, walked around it before settling in the chair at the other side. Without looking at Kai, I said, "I have a situation." "What situation?" He asked almost immediately. I looked up at him. His face was etched with worry. An expression Kai never has. What was there to ever be worried about? Nothing, except probably now that I just acted out of character. "The captive." I tell him. His face scrunches in confusion, "Gabriel's daughter?" I release a small sigh, my silence answering his question. "Woah. How is she a problem? What did she do?" I relaxed back on the head rest, "She tore her room apart." "W-what?!" He asked with laughter in his voice. "She f*****g tore the bed apart with her claws and punched the mirror with her fist." I was getting a head ache the more I thought about it. "Yo! She's a maniac! Did you kill her?" He asked without hesitation. Why? Because that's something I would have done without thinking. Grab her neck and squeeze the life out of her or use my claws on her like she'd done to the bed. But instead... instead, I thought of how her hair was out of place and how she was trying to rile me up and how... how after everything, I still wanted her to stay in that room. Stay alive. I was going to behead a servant of mine if she didn't take care of her bleeding hand. I threaten one of my members for an enemy. What the f**k is wrong with me?
