Skyes pov
'This is worst than I thought it would be.'
I am currently sitting on a couch surrounded by the whole family of the guy who was meant to marry my brother's mate.
They all stare at me and I can tell that they must have been discussing something important before I barged in because they all look tired.
I start thinking to myself that it would have been better if I had stayed with my bother and if had waited for his mate to come over.
I would rather look at two idiots flirt than be the i***t who visited a stranger's house like how I'm doing right now.
"It's so nice of you to come over!" says the lady who had pulled me over to sit with them earlier.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt," I say as she hands me a plate with a piece of cake on it.
"It's alright, we weren't discussing anything important," she says as she sits next to her husband.
I smile as I look at the piece of cake and I frown.
'i should have gotten something less sweet.'
"Is something wrong?" an old man asks me as he looks at me with an agitated look on his face.
I look at him and then at his family members who look at him with troubled expressions. "I try to not overly enjoy things that look sweet because sometimes things aren't what they seem."
"And what exactly are you expecting from a piece of cake?" an old lady asks me who I am guessing is mated to the old man.
"A sweetness strong enough to intoxicate me." I look at them and smile "that's what I expect."
They all look at me confused except for the old lady. She begins to laugh as she grabs her stomach. "It must be hard to be that way and not notice it."
Everyone including me, look at her confused.
"What?" I ask as she looks at me and then at her husband.
"Doesn't she remind you guys of someone?" she asks as she hugs her husband.
"Is that another riddle?" when I hear the guy who was the fiance of Ben's mate I can't help but feel my stomach stir.
I close my eyes as I begin to feel Ben's emotions of love towards his mate spread all over my body.
This morning I was shocked when I saw this guy and his parents because I felt Ben's feelings of love towards his mate and confused them as my own.
I thought that I had found my very own mate and when I realized that what I was feeling weren't my feelings I was relieved yet sad at the same time.
It would have been great to know if what I felt was my own. The feeling after all is very comforting.
'your mate won't be able to recognize you if he can't see your eyes through those contacts.' i remember Henry telling me. 'our wolves can only feel the presence of our mates through our senses. For some reason, your sent is being blocked and you don't smell like anything so the only way for him to find you is through those eyes or through the touch of your skin. Do you know how hard it will be for you if you continue like this? Stop hating those eyes. You are only hurting yourself.'
Once I open my eyes I see that everyone is staring at me. "Sorry, my brother's feelings got a lot stronger out of nowhere."
"Your brother's feelings?" the guy asks and I can't help but feel warmth all over my body.
"We can both feel each other's emotions and hear each other's thoughts," I say as I take a bite from the piece of cake.
"That's rare." the old man says as he looks at me with curiosity in his eyes. "I've heard of that happening but usually the children have the blood of an alpha or blood with strong magic."
"Too bad I have neither," I say as I look at the wall behind him.
I begin to remember my father's face as he smiles widely at me and my brother. The only one who notices that his eyes are making fun of us is me and he knows it.
That's probably why he seemed to always look at me with a dark expression.
I look at the old man whose eyes show nothing else but pity towards me and I realize that I must have been making some sort of dark expression.
"But then again I suspect that my parents weren't exactly who they said they were," I say as I look at the floor now.
"Do you hate them?" the old man asks "do you hate the blood that runs through your veins?"
I look at him for a while before I tighten my grip on the plate that I'm holding. "I detest it."
"Your eyes..." the old lady says as she looks at me directly in the eyes. "Why do they show no emotion?"
The moment she asks this question everyone freezes as if they realized something about me and I breathe out.
'someone was bound to ask eventually.'

"Grandma you shouldn't ask her something like that." I manage to say before Skye interrupts me.
"My brother was born with black eyes just like our mom but I was born with different colored eyes which cause me to get bullied all the time by other children. They would say things like what if we aren't related. Or they would accuse my mother of cheating on my dad. They just bring bad memories to me so I cover them so that I don't have to see them." she puts the plate with the cake on the small coffee table on the center of the couches and smiles at my grandma. "It's a part of me I want to forget."
Silence fills the room and I can tell that Skye doesn't like that my grandmother and grandfather are looking at her.
I don't blame her, I would despise to have two strangers look at me with pity in their eyes.
She moves a bit in her seat as she tries to make herself feel a bit more comfortable.
It makes me wonder how in the world is a piece of cake too sweet for a girl once I look at the unfinished slice of cake on the table.
If it had been Scarlett, she would have finished that slice and the entire cake in less than five minutes.
I look at her eyes and I can now see that her eyes look like they have a plastic layer on them.
'how did I not notice that before?'
She senses that I'm looking at her and she begins to look nervous.
Although her body language says nervous, her eyes are still the same.
'i wonder how her eyes look like?'
I say to myself as I wonder what color her eyes are.
Brown?
That's the only color that matches her light brown hair but then again it looks dyed.
Her roots look kind of black so maybe a dark color?
She stares at me and I look away as soon as I realize it.
"Is there anything wrong?" she asks my grandfather "when I arrived you all look troubled."
My grandfather sighs as he looks at her with a worried expression. "I'm just trying to get my company back up, but I need money."
Skye looks at my grandpa and then observes the room. Out of nowhere she looks at my grandpa with a troubled expression and says "umm... You have a car in your parking lot. How about selling it?"
"No one is going to want that car." my grandmother says as she puts her head on my grandpa's arm. "It's too expensive and no one around here can afford it."
Skye looks at my grandma for a second before she points a finger at herself. "What if I buy it?" we all look at her shocked. "Would the amount of money that you get from that car be enough for you to get your company back on its feet?"
My grandfather looks at her with his mouth wide open. "You do realize that the amount is very high right?"
Skye looks at him and then at all of us with a troubled expression. "Umm... Yeah. That car is around one hundred thousand right?"
"So you are telling me that you are able to afford that?" my grandfather asks as he looks at her nervously. "Just who in the world are you?"
