Dean's pov
After Skye left we were all left quite shocked. She had said that the amount of that car's worth was nothing compared to the price of the house that her father had left her.
Her father was a politician and her mother was a doctor. According to her, they weren't working anymore by the time that they had bought the house because they had decided that they had worked enough and had decided to focus on their family.
"What a strong character." my grandma says as she hugs my grandfather. "at least we have our solution to the problem that we were so worried about earlier."
"I still can't believe that her parents were that successful and yet they managed to stay off the radar." my father says as he looks at the main door. "I think there's more to them than what she is telling us."
"what if she doesn't know?" I say as they all turn to look at me. "I mean she looked like she was telling us everything that she knew."
After our small conversation, my parents and I headed back home. before I left I took a look at my grandparent's car. they had bought it for themselves but never managed to use it since they still liked their old car better.
it's not surprising that this beauty caught her eye though. it's a very expensive car with the best speed out there and the color is not bad either. the red is dark and very intriguing to the eye.
I walk away from it and I get in my own car as I leave my grandparent's house, and ride home in order to spend another dreadful day at school tomorrow.
Skye's Pov
I take the bus again with my backpack on my back and head towards the house of the grandparents of Scarlett's ex-fiance.
I get off the bus and I suddenly realize that this is the second time me coming to the house of a couple of strangers.
yesterday, I wasn't able to get the names of any of the people in that family, yet I was able to offer them a large amount of money for a car.
I thought that it was stupid of me to do that, but now I am currently standing in front of the mansion with a large amount of cash in my backpack.
'i didn't know I was this stupid.' i think to myself as I look at the large white house with flower designs on the walls.
'if I get ripped off it's going to be my fault.'
I walk over to the door and I ring the doorbell.
"You really came?" answers the mom of the guy.
"umm... I'm sorry but I didn't quite get your name yesterday." I look at her as I bite my lower lip nervously.
"oh I'm sorry, my name is Magaret." she says as she opens the door wide open. "please come inside."
I walk inside as I look around and I see her husband and the two elderly people sitting on the couches.
"I came for the car." I say as I walk into the living room and I take off my backpack. "you can count the money and check if it's legit if you want." I walk towards the center of the room and kneel in front of the coffee table.
I begin to take out the stacks of money and they all look at me with pure shock. "this is enough right?" I ask as they all look at the money in disbelief.
"you walked here carrying this large amount of money?" the old lady asks as she gets up and kneels beside me "come here sit down. You have to be careful. you can't just carry large sums of money around town by yourself."
"But I'm a werewolf so I'll be fine." I say as I look at her confused. "a human can't hurt me even if they tried."
"Why exactly do you want the car?" the old man asks with a sigh.
I look at him and then at the money on the table. "I want to give it to my brother. he is going to be living in this pack from now on and I want to make sure that he at least has transportation to his new school and to the future job that he gets."
Margaret walks inside with a cup of coffee and hands it over to me "you really care about your brother don't you?"
"he's the only person who I understand." I say as I look at the cup in my hands. "he could lie to me but I'd know if he were lying. I need to make sure that he feels content and satisfied about his own life."
"I won't bother myself with counting the money. I trust that you are giving us a good amount of money for the car." says the old man. "although this might sound be stupid of me, I have a feeling that as fellow werewolves you aren't going to do something that might ruin your brothers stay here."
"of course not, anything but that," I say as I take a sip from the coffee.
'it's bitter.'
Dean's pov
"you aren't going to believe what happened to me yesterday!" Noah says as he looks at me with his eyes filled with expectations.
"oh yeah, why don't you try me?" I say as I sit down on my chair.
"well I found out through my dad that there's going to be a new student today." he says as he looks at the door impatiently. "apparently he's the mate of a human here at the school," he whispers.
this school is not exactly and all werewolves place. since each pack is given an amount of land to protect we need to make sure that we are protecting the humans who live there as well. in other words, we have to learn to coexist along with them if we want to protect them.
"Dean, dude, did you hear me?" Noah asks me as he punches my arm lightly.
"Yeah, I got it chill." I say as I continue to look at the whiteboard in front of the class. "what does it feel like when you find your mate?" I ask without realizing it.
"what?" Noah asks me with a troubled expression. "I don't know man, I'm still single remember!" he whispers.
I sigh as I look at the board, I have never wondered what it would feel like until now for some reason.
'am I in heat?' i wonder as I mentally slap myself for that comment.
'males don't go through heat.'
"students, today we have a new transfer student." the teacher says as he says "please be kind to him and help him out since it's his first day."
I casually look at the door and I see a guy with dark brown hair and glasses come inside of the room with a backpack and a book in his hand.
'Ben?'
I swallow hard as I realize that I'm not dreaming. one of the twins has transferred to our school and he is smiling about it as well.
once he's done presenting himself to the class I wait impatiently and hope for Skye to enter through the same door but she doesn't.
'does this mean that they are really going to go their separate ways?'
I look at my desk in disbelief, it's not natural for someone to not care about a family member leaving all of a sudden.
she must be feeling alone and lonely at a moment like this. I turn to look at Ben who is now smiling as he talks to a couple of girls in the back of the classroom and I can't help but feel angry at him.
while he's here flirting with a bunch of whores, his sister is probably shutting herself up from everyone else and feeling bad about the separation.
my hand turns into a fist and I tighten it as much as I can to control myself from walking over to him and hitting him in the face.
'if he were my brother, I would despise him.'
Skye's pov
Once I got back from the mansion I walked up the stairs in order to get to the hotel room that we are staying in and used that time to sigh and think about how much I hated myself for not finding a mate in the same pack as my brother.
'maybe we are just meant to be separated from each other by fate?'
once I'm inside the hotel room I walk over to Ben's room in order to try to talk to him about parting ways but he's not there.
I'm about to go to my room when I notice that everything in his room is too perfectly placed. I look inside the closet and it's completely empty.
'what's going on?'
I close the door to his closet and speed walk to my own room and there is nothing in there as well.
"where's my stuff?" I ask myself out loud as I panic and walk faster around the hotel to look for Henry.
the moment I see my suitcase in the living room I calm down and walk over to it.
"where were you this morning?" I hear Henry say as he comes inside from the balcony with a cigarette in his hand.
"where's Ben's stuff?" I ask as I point towards the suitcases. "his stuff is not in his room and his suitcase isn't here."
"relax," he says as he blows some smoke from his cigarette. "he is going to be staying at the packhouse with this pack's alpha until he is able to pay for his own apartment."
I look at him dressed and ready to go somewhere but I try my hardest to move away from that thought.
the only thing is that there is no escaping. Henry made sure to gather all of these clues and to put them in front of me so that he wouldn't have to say it himself.
the suitcases, his outfit, the tickets on the coffee table in front of him, everything signals me that we are going to be leaving as soon as possible.
tears begin to come out as I cover my eyes so that he isn't able to see my tears.
"But I haven't even said goodbye yet," I say as begin to cry like a small child.
he looks away from me and stops smoking. "I'm sorry Skye. I'm so sorry," he says in a soft and calm voice. he tries to make himself sound composed but I can still hear his voice shake slightly as he looks away from me.
throughout these ten years that I have lived under the same roof with him as my adoptive father. this was the first time that I have ever heard his voice shake.
'i'm sorry Skye. I'm so sorry I hear his voice in my head over and over as I drop to my knees and cry my heart out.
'Goodbye Ben.'
