Chapter 10

We made it back to his pack quicker than I would have thought. It only took two days and another five rounds of f*****g. Sure, we both ran in our wolf forms the entire way, but maybe it’s because time seems to fly when I’m with my mate. A small part of me is anxious and little hurt by the fact he didn’t mark me. It scares me to think he may change his mind about being with me. He showed me to his room. This is the only bedroom I have ever been in, but I have to say, I could get used to this. The room is giant. Large windows adorn the room covered in the most beautiful curtains. Off to the side of the windows is a door that leads out to a beautiful balcony overlooking the kingdom. The giant bed looks like its big enough to fit an orgy in- wait an orgy? What the hell is wrong with me, has to be the heat talking. The silk sheets are black and thankfully the bed is free of those horrible hard pillows that humans like to use as decorations. In one corner of the room, there is a giant walk in closest filled with clothes. Next to it, is the most beautiful bathroom I have ever seen. “Welcome home Luna,” he says, leaning against the door frame watching me take in the room. “I will have to send someone to buy you clothes, until then-”, he walks to the closet and pulls out a large shirt his shirt, and it takes everything in me not to sniff it and face that embarrassment, “you can wear my things, there are towels in the bathroom, you can shower and rest...” He pauses, “but I need to go find my gamma, with the upcoming war, it isn’t safe for us to be alone out there.” I want to fight him, tell him I’m coming as well and we would be safer together, but with my heat, I don’t want another episode like last time, at least now I have my mate's scent all around me which should ease the suffering a bit. I’m not sure how long this stupid heat will last, I need to be ready for anything, I can't afford to be in heat much longer. I walk to Kai and wrap my arms around his neck, "I can’t wait for you to get back,” I purr. He captures my lips with his and I feel his hand run up my shirt. He moves to my breast and gives my n****e a squeeze, making it harden. I let out a soft moan into his mouth as his tongue works mine. “Don’t have another heat episode without me, I don’t really feel like slaughtering my pack”, he says. By the seriousness in his voice, I believe he would do it, he wasn’t joking. He pecks my lips again before turning and leaving the room. I sigh, looking around the room again. I can’t believe how much my life has changed in the last few days, maybe this was the moon goddess way of trying to make up for the shitty life she has given me. I make my way to the shower. Usually, I bathe in creeks or rivers unless I decide to throw caution to the wind and rent a space, well break in, they never really know that I am there. I turn the water on full heat, stripping out of Kai’s shirt before getting in. I take the fastest shower I have ever taken and head for the bed. Some rest will be good, and if I’m lucky, Kai may return before I wake up.

I wake up to sirens blazing and Nyx howling in my head.

“We are being attacked, we have to help them, help our pack”, she says. The sirens grow louder, and I hear chaos erupting in the halls. I jump out of bed, pulling Kai’s shirt down to cover my butt. I sprint for the door just as it slams open, knocking me back. The man at the door gazes at me, looking me up and down before snapping out of his daze. “My name is Axel, I am alpha Kai’s beta. We are under attack, I need to get you to the safe room with the other women and children, Luna”. I scoff at him before walking to the door, “no way am I hiding, we are being attacked because of me, correct?” He doesn’t say anything, so I know the answer to my question. “I will not run and hide; I will fight with the warriors.” “Luna, Kai will kill me if I let anything happen to you, this is another werewolf pack, you don’t even know the pack, actually you aren’t even part of the pack yet, you will be looked at as a threat on both sides.” I glare at him, then tell them, tell your warriors not to attack me, and if they don’t wish for me to tear them to shreds, they will heed my warning.” He stares at me, “you're in heat, I can smell it a mile away, as can everyone else, you will be a distraction, and I can’t babysit you. You will go to the safe house with the other women.” Nyx snarls in my head, taking over my voice and making my eyes smoke purple, “You will not treat me like a child! I don’t need a babysitter, or a protector for that matter, you will stand down or I will make you!” Axel jumps back, a shocked look on his face. I know he can feel the power radiating off of me, they always can. The silly wolves, hunters, wizards, they are always shocked by my power. He nods his head quickly before running out of the door, me right behind him. The pack house is in chaos. Some warriors are trying to get people into the safe house, and some are running out of the door to face the threat head on.

We have to get outside, we have to make sure the people are safe”, Nyx says in my head. Axel runs out of the open door, shifting as he does, tearing his clothes from his body before joining the chaos. I look around, somehow, I can sense who is a part of this pack, and who isn’t. There are bodies lying everywhere, some injured and some dead. I scan the fighting field looking for one person, the alpha of the attacking pack. It only takes a moment to spot him on the sidelines, still in his human form as wolves fight all around him. Snarling, I shift and make my way to him. The moment I shift, all attention turns to me. My white fur, my purple eyes, the smoke coming from my eyes. The alpha zeros in on me before grinning from across the battlefield. He makes his way over to me, the rest of the wolves are frozen as if waiting on a command, “The cursed one, I didn’t think I would ever see you.” Nyx growls lowly, her ears going back, her teeth dripping with saliva. “You see cursed one, we have been living peacefully for too long to let you mess this up. Do you understand what will happen if alpha Kai takes you as his mate? The entire realm will be against us wolves, and I can’t let that happen. So why don’t you die gracefully before it comes to that, we both know it will happen sooner or later anyway, why bring us wolves down with you”. He looks angrily at the wolves from our pack, scanning them, “you all know this, yet you still protect her? After years of hunting her, you suddenly turn over a new leaf and don’t think about anyone else?” He growls, “this is your chance to make a choice, I will kill her, are you going to die with her, or are you going to follow, the obvious, smarter alpha?” Nyx had enough, she leaps through the air at him. He shifts into his giant wolf just in time. His wolf is at least twice the size of mine. Nyx lands on him gnashing her teeth at his face and throat. The wolves go crazy and are once again at war with each other. He narrowly avoids my teeth, and his claws s***h against Nyx’s chest, flinging us off of him. She lands on her feet, her power radiating in waves as she steps closer to him. His wolf is growling, baring his teeth at me. Nyx leaps at him again using her claws to s***h at his face, blood splattering her white fur. She locks her teeth into his shoulder, barely missing his neck as his wolf howls out in agony. She rips part of his shoulder off, blood dripping from her snout as she tosses it aside and comes for him again. Just as she is about to finish him, one of his warriors leaps at her, knocking Nyx off her feet. The warrior lands on top of her with his claws out, piercing her shoulders. She slightly flinches from the pain before shooting him off of her in a wave of power. He flies through the air and crashes hard into a tree, the sounds of bones breaking fill the air. Nyx stands up proudly and looks back to the alpha who is struggling to pull himself away. His healing is slow unlike her own. Nyx lifts her head and howls loudly. Dark clouds take over the sky and torrential rain pours down over the battlefield. His wolf is whining as Nyx walks over to him slowly, her fur glowing with a light purple hue. She snarls in his face, and he instantly bares his neck in submission. Nyx rips his throat out and spits it next to his lifeless body before howling up at the sky of her victory.
