26 In the cathedral the work buzzed and so did Nakka. He was asleep and zizzed not so quietly in the corner on a chair, tilted back against the wall, the rear legs of one of the cardinal’s favourite chairs bearing an inordinate strain. Mike looked at Lisa. ‘Sweet’art, you really want to marry that dozy snoring sod?’ Lisa nodded. ‘Well, at least stop him snoring, I’m trying to concentrate.’ Lisa stepped over to the chair and with a deft left foot, hooked a chair leg and Nakka tumbled awake as he sprawled across the floor. Mike and Lisa roared with laughter. ‘At least he’s stopped snoring,’ Mike said. ‘What the…?’ ‘You were snoring, dearest lovely gorgeous man,’ and Lisa smoothed his cheek, knelt down and kissed his lips and Nakka’s ire was defused.
