CHAPTER 1
“Charley!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” I woke up to my mom, blaring out like a Tunguska Meteor. I pulled off my blanket and stretched out like a cat. “MOM!!!” “Stop yellin’!” “It’s only 7a..” I looked at the clock hanging in my bedroom. “Dang it!” “I’m late again!” I got up from my bed and left it in a mess. I pulled off the curtains of the window to let in the sunlight. When I was 7, I was depressed. My mom thought that I was too young for it. when we consulted it with a doctor, he said that if I’m not exposed to light even for a day, I’d catch depression. That was insane. But when I tested out, it was true. I feel better with light. I exposed myself to the light for few minutes and turned on the geyser. I went in the restroom and brushed my teeth. I climbed downstairs to check my mom. I saw her workin’ on my food in the kitchen. My mom was a professional chef and she was ranked as the 28th top chef out of 100. She worked in a star hotel nearby our house, in Illinois. I lost my dad when I was 3.  His death was still a mystery. My mom noticed me still not up. “Charley!” “Are you kidding me?” “It’s 7:45 and you’re still in your night suit” “If you’re not gonna get ready within 20 minutes, I won’t drop you at school” “You need to go by walk!”  I rolled off my eyes imitating her. “Mooom” “My school’s at 8:30 after all” “Why are you actin’ hurry?” She was pissed off. She placed the dough can she had in her hand making a thud. “There’s an event in the hotel and I need to go and prep for it” “That’s why I’m freaking out Charley!!!” “If I’m not doing good there, our life will be worser Charley!!” I nodded and acted good before she could scare me out. I ran upstairs to my room and started packing my bag pack with few text books, rough note and a pen. I took my towel and went in the bath. “s**t!” “There’s a spider” I freaked out at the sight of spider sitting above the flush. When I was thirteen I acquired an allergy that comes out at a sight of a spider. The doctor said that it was not a big deal and gave some lotions for it. My skin started to turn red and itching. “Mommy!!” I shouted for my mom. I draped me in a towel and stood outside the bathroom. My mom came up al alarming. “What’s with you now Charley?” I pointed out my fingers at the spider. She sighed and went in the bathroom. She took out the stick in the cupboard that we normally use for these kinda occasions. She went near the flush and pulled the spider down with the stick and flushed it out. She made sure that it went down to the ground. Hopefully, the spider wasn’t pregnant. I felt my skin burning red. “Apply the lotion after your bath” my mom ordered in a monotone voice and left me alone in the bathroom. I started to take the bath. After finishing it, I came out and stood near the mirror. I grabbed my lotion from the drawer and started applying it all over my body. “Cool!” I was up to my dressing cupboard. I shoved in a sweatshirt and a sweatpant. I applied my moisturiser as my skin can get pretty dry within minutes. I carried my bag and climbed downstairs. “I’m ready momma” She gave no reactions. I sat on the dining table hoping to get my breakfast. While I was waiting, I went in my phone. I scrolled up as I got notification from my social medias. I smelled something sizzling on the table. I looked for it. “Wow!” “A toast and chocolate brownie!!” My mom nodded and took her seat opposite to me. “Phones down” she ordered. I placed the phone in my bag and started enjoying the meal. I munched on my food. My mom looked at me. “If I couldn’t pick you up, grab a uber” I nodded and smiled. She finished hers before me and was ruffling through my tablets. She kept two pills next to my plate. Well for this case, when I was 9, I developed symptoms of osteoporosis as I couldn’t stand on my bones. Just to make it better, the doctor gave me pills and he wanted me to continue this till my death. I took my pills after my breakfast and gobbled in some water. I shoved my lunch in my bag and waited for my mom to lock the door. She took the car keys and smiled. “Ready to off?” I nodded. It was 8:20. My mom locked the door and gave me a spare key. We got in the car which was parked in the garage. We started our ride. I was looking out the windows. My mom mouthed to speak. “Charley” “I think we won’t be here longer” I frowned at her. “Mom!” “What do you mean?” She chuckled. “I mean in Illinois gurl!” I scoffed and nodded. She further continued, “I got an offer from a star hotel in Texas” “I applied for it as they mentioned a better pay than my current workplace” I hummed in response. She looked at me and smiled. She knew that it would be quite hard for me to leave this place, where I have lot of memories with my dad and I had lotta friends. She dropped me at the school. “Make sure to complete your lunch!” “And remember about the uber” “don’t roam in the road for long?” I chuckled and nodded. I kissed her and waved off. I got in the gate and was walking through the hall way. Olivia, one of my best friend catched me up in the hall way. “Hey Charlotte!” “You’re early!! Thunderclap!” I chuckled and punched her friendly on her arms. “My mom wanna head her work earlier today, olives” “That’s why” I pointed out my finger mocking her. “No wonder!” We started walking to our locker which was past the hallway. I saw my bully taking her stuffs out from her locker. She noticed me and I looked away. Olivia chuckled. “No wonder too!” I frowned at her. The bully noticed my and acted seducing. I got past her safely. But the problem was after it.   “Wish you were a gay” she shouted making everyone to look at me. “s**t” I muttered. I looked back at her and flustered mean faces. I sighed when I saw Olivia laughing. “Like seriously? Olives” She gestured sorry. We got our locker and took our stuffs and headed the classroom.
