CHAPTER 14

1084 Words
Days went on with strange and normal life. Two months passed like a week. That day after a cold rain, I fell sick. I was in my bed all the day and my mom took a day off to take care of me. “Mom..” I saw my mom rattling through my shelves. She turned back in response. “What are you searching for?” She resumed rattling through the shelves. “The temperature” I pulled on the blanket close to me as it was so cold. She didn’t find the temperature anywhere so she left the room and went downstairs to get one. I sipped the hot water that laid on rest near my lamp. There were some cookies too but I didn’t take any ‘cause I felt nauseous. I heard footsteps approaching my room. She came near me rushing and kept the temperature inside my mouth, under my tongue. We waited for a minute or so and then the machine beeped. She took it out from my mouth and looked at the screen. I raised a bit to see the temperature. “Oh my goodness, it’s in 101” I blinked and slouched back to my bed. She kept her cold hands on my neck and my forehead. “I’ll come back, honey” she said and left the room wiping off the temperature. I closed my mouth and I felt something tickling inside my stomach. Something like moving and crawling. I pushed off the blanket and stood up on the floor that was so cold. I grabbed the water from the glass and poured it in my mouth. I thought it would get better but instead it turned worse. It started to crawl more making me to feel uncomfortable. I felt it. I felt something inside my stomach. I became more nauseous. I ran to my bathroom with my mouth closed. I couldn’t control it so I spitted and vomited it out. “What the f**k!?” I spitted out some blood and then it came crawling out my mouth. I saw hundreds of worm like creatures coming out of my mouth. It made more nauseous and disgusting. How is it? How is it coming out from my mouth? The more I opened up, the more it came. It was slimy and kept on going in through the holes in the washbasin. I screamed. I shouted for my mom. It smelled gross. I felt like dying. I screamed at the top of y lungs. I felt tears flowing through my cheeks. She came up running calling my name. “Charley!” “Are you okay?” I screamed again. She dropped the bowl she had in her hand and screamed too. “Charley! Why is it- ” She held my ears and helped me to pull it out fully. After all, the volume slowed down to three and two. I looked at the mirror- my mouth looked like it bleeded out. I spitted out that gross saliva and saw the worm moving in the holes. I opened the tap and washed my mouth with the mouth wash. “Mom, I don’t feel good” She hugged me and cried. “We’ll go to the hospital, baby” “I’m sorry…” she started crying again. I hugged her back and the tears flowed automatically. How can I feel good after seeing that thing coming out from my mouth? I changed my clothes and went down to my mom. She packed her bag with some medicines, a flask with some hot water and some salad. We left our house to the hospital. I’ve been visiting the hospital since from my childhood. So, the doctor knows more about me and my problems. My mom was registering my name with the incharge lady and we took a seat for a while. “A CT scan?” She nodded. I shrugged down on my seat ‘cause I was feeling something worse. I still couldn’t feel okay after seeing those things coming out from my mouth. I wanted to live. They nurse came in the centre with a bunch of papers in her hand. “Charlotte” she looked for me. We both stood up and walked in her direction. Her way let us into a dark room which was only visible with a minimal light and that light was from a machine. They made me sit on an iron chair and gave me some pills and tonic. They asked me to walk for a while and I did as I was told. “Miss Charlotte, you can go and lie down on that place” They pointed out the machine. I was scared. I looked at my and she gave me “everything will alright” look. I started walking towards the machine. The doctor called me again. “Wear this on the changing room” he handed me a patient’s dress. It was with the hospital’s symbol and it was plain. I nodded and took that to the changing room. I got changed and came out to the machine. The machine was in the other room and the doctors were monitoring through the glass. The machine was big and terrifying. It was exactly like a scanning machine for human beings. A nurse helped me out to lie there. “Don’t cover up your stomach” I heard a static. I put my hands next to me. The part I was in moved mechanically. “There is no need to be scared, Charlotte” “It won’t pain, alright?” I nodded as they were monitoring me. The part that was above me was curvy and it started to roll starting from slow to medium. I heard the machine. I was lifted up quite close but not too close to the scanner. After a minute, a doctor came in and inserted a needle like thing on my hands, above my wrist, opposite to my palm. He looked for veins and then injected it slowly to a tube like thing. I wasn’t sure that it was a trip but it was quite different. “Be strong!” he smiled. He took out a medicine and injected it in the tube. He patted the tube then. The medicined infused with liquid on the tube.  He smiled and left. I felt something controlling me over slowly. I felt pain. A captivation. My arms pained after he injected that medicine. What the hell was it?
