Sofia's POV-

After about two minutes, I'd recovered from the humiliation while Nora was still busy whining away in my head. I looked down and got to work. It seemed Alpha James wanted the pledging ceremony to be held on the same night as a mating ball, so he'd left 9 numbers of our allied packs for me to call and invite any Gamma, Beta, Alpha and Warrior status unmated wolves. It seemed he was so desperate to find his mate he wasn't just inviting Alpha-status females anymore.

The last number on the list was Natalia. He wanted her to accompany him to the ball as a date to see if any of them found their mates. If by the time they were 23 they hadn't found them, they were to be chosen mates according to the elders council. To both strengthen the allied packs and create strong heirs to the Alpha title. Both Alpha-blooded will create perfect pups to take over one day. I picked up the phone and dialed. After two rings she answered curtly.

"What? I'm busy"

"Good morning Miss Natalia, its Sofia, Alpha James's assistant. He was hoping you'd accompany him as his date to the pledging ceremony and mating ball next Friday? He has added that you will be taken care of, there will be a room ready and you can leave your pack at once to come and get settled?"

I heard her squeal at the other end of the line. She was infatuated with him. I honestly do not see why, he mainly used her for s*x and even then he threw her out afterwards. He never stayed in the same room over night with a shewolf. It must be the only thing he's saving for his mate. I really pity the woman that becomes mated with him. hes been around half the packs in the area and goddess knows where else. I crinkled my nose up in disgust while Nora snorted in agreement. Lost in thought, I had obviously not heard Natalia on the phone.

"OI OMEGA! I said, tell him I will be leaving and getting on a flight immediately and will be there by tomorrow night at the latest."

She squealed. Me and Nora had always disliked her and we both hoped deep down she wouldn't become our Luna. She had always turned her nose up at any status below hers, which was everyone, and was only ever here to accompany James in the bedroom. They would be at it for hours before she would shamelessly strut down the corridor and back into her appointed room. She acted like a spoiled brat three quarters of the time and really made most of us dislike her. Not just me.

"Of course, Miss Natalia."

"Oh and also make yourself useful and go into your town and pick up a few lace pieces of lingerie, I want to excite him like never before this week," she giggled.

"You know my size. Oh and make them red. He loves that, it's his favorite color."

She giggled again before hanging up the phone. I knew for a fact his favorite color was actually sky blue because I heard his mother mention it once, but I dared not correct her.

She was shameless. Nora turned her nose up in disgust and mumbled

'What a w***e. She should worry more about finding her own mate than fluttering her eyelashes into another's bed'

She laughed. I had to agree with her on that one. I, in fact, did know her size because this wasn't the first time I had been ordered to run into town to pick clothes up for her. Never lingerie though. Me, being a virgin myself, knew nothing about lingerie, so this was doomed to end in a disaster.

It's literally just lace that covers a little bit but shows off your body mostly and excites men Sofia. Everyone knows that. It usually ends up ripped on the floor by the end of the night anyway. Goddess, when we are mated for the first time I will be in charge so you don't make a huge fool out of us.'

She puffed her chest out and I grimaced about the fact I truly didn't know anything. Things were about to get a lot worse, I had to go find Alpha James and ask for a pack card to get Natalia's lingerie. This was definitely going to be embarrassing and if he was still as mad as he was 4 hours ago, I was going to be in big trouble. That's when it hit me. The pledging ceremony was now a formal event which meant I'd need formal clothes. An evening dress or jumpsuit but i had no spare money until the end of the month when I got my leave pay. I'd have to borrow something off of Nadine.

I grimaced at the thought. Our clothing styles were completely different. She was outgoing and liked to show off what she had, whereas I liked to stay covered and not draw any unwanted attention to myself. But it was my only choice, knowing I had to pledge so I couldn't just skip it. I was standing up to leave when Beta Liam walked in.

"Beta Liam" I smiled.

He'd always been nothing but kind towards me and i guess you could even say we were sort of friends. Sort of. He was still way above my rank and status and probably wouldn't be seen with me outside unless it was work, but while here he was nothing but a gentlemen. Handsome too, i noted. He had dirty blonde hair slicked to the side neatly, deep blue eyes, a very handsome defined face. Looking down, he must've just come from training because he was still topless and in his cotton gray shorts, deeply jowly off his defined chest. My eyes couldn't help but wonder and, wow, he was well endowed from what i could see. I quickly shook my head but the smirk on his face was obvious he'd seen me checking him out. I felt my cheeks heat up and I probably looked like a tomato. I kept my eyes down and waited for him to state what he wanted.

"Please Sofia, call me Liam. I was looking for Alpha James. No one has seen him since this morning and he has a lot of business to see too."

"Oh. I was just about to go looking for him. All the allied higher-ranked pack members would be coming to the mating ball and pledging ceremony, so i needed to inform him and Natalia wanted me to go into town to pock up something for her, so I needed a pack card."

I couldn't help but roll my eyes at the last statement and it made Liam laugh quite fiercely. Nora purred, it seemed she liked being around him too. It felt natural, perhaps he was even her mate. I shook that thought away quickly. A beta would be mated to someone with Beta blood and she wouldn't be able to scent her mate until she was 18 anyway. These three months needed to hurry up because I couldn't wait to be loved and finally have someone to rely on. Nora snorted once again.

'We don't need anyone to rely on. You have me, ill always protect us and Hunter. He's my pup and I'd be happy if it was just us three forever.'

She was defiantly being serious, but I was a hopeless romantic. I wanted a mate bond more than anything in the world.

"We'll find him together then. How was your break anyway?"

We started walking towards the south woods as that was where he went to train and be alone sometimes.

"It was good actually. Nice to finally chill out and relax for a while", I joked, but his face was serious.

"Has James been awful to you already?" He sounded angry, so I put a smile on my face and replied as happily as I could,

"No, he's nice honestly. I understand how stressful it must be to run a pack while still aimlessly looking for his mate. I feel bad and just want to help out as much as possible. It can't be easy for him."

I realized I believed everything I had just said and sighed. He really does seem to be having a rough time. He just needed his Beta to be his friend right now and keep him strong for the pack. Liam was quiet, so I looked up and saw his deep blue eyes staring at me in confusion. Did he think i disliked the alpha was was being sarcastic? I started to panic and wronged my sweaty hands nervously as we reached th border of the woods.

"We could shift and find him quicker?" He asked.

I shook my head no.

"I don't have the mind link yet, so I wont be able to communicate with you and Nora could be... aggressive?"

She laughed in my mind and I looked at him seriously. He just laughed, obviously not believing that my wolf was more dominant than he thought. I had never trained, let alone in wolf form, so no one had really seen nor met Nora and once she was out I couldn't control her.

'Yeah, because I have a mind of my own. Duh' She shot back.

"It's ok, let the wolves pick up his scent and they'll find him in no time. We're Beta Wolf remember. I'm not scared of a little omega." He teased. His words provoked Nora and she force shifted me so she towered over him and growled, playfully challenging him. The shock on his face was obvious. She was a big wolf with emerald green eyes, soft white fur with a red moon-shaped patch below her ear. Definitely not what you would call "small". Liam smirked before taking all his clothes but his boxers off and shifting into his brown wolf, Nord. I sat back in Nora's mind and let her take chase to Nord happily. Soon, Nord and Nora picked up Alpha James' scent and trotted towards where be must be.
