Chapter 23They stayed in town for three days, recovering and relaxing. Cameron showed Ezra and Nicky how much he missed them, and they returned the favor. On the whole, he spent most of the free time in bed.
When it came time to leave again, they replenished their supplies. But they skipped the wagon. Thanks to his late-night trip to the merchants’ camp, Cameron now knew that he could ride a horse with reasonable efficiency. And there was no reason the red-sleeves or Mingxia needed to come along for this journey. They would just slow Kenna and Cameron down. So, he climbed up on Lucky, after loading him with their provisions. He wouldn’t be the fastest steed in the world, but it would have to do.
