Chapter 11 Rye.

928 Words
RYE. It's been five days since Sol's friends passed and today she's finally come down for breakfast. Father and everyone has been worried about her but I assured them she's ok. Everyone is back to their chatty selves talking about fathers Birthday ball that's in a week. We've invited many guests; both humans and vampires from around the world will be flying in this weekend. Sol would be spending the day at home with Kye and the others as his pet isn't well while I go to the office. He took her out into the pouring rain the other night because they both wanted to feel the rain drops. So now his pet has the flu. I dressed after breakfast and Sol walked me to the car, after Emily’s burial she has been more open. We went from one word conversations to paragraphs. I never pressure her to speak to me or do anything with me for that matter because even though we are married we still didn't know each other. The car drove off and I watched as she became smaller. It's my first time leaving her for a whole day. I feel like a parent leaving their child on the first day of school. My day was filled with meetings after meetings. Paperwork upon paperwork that needs my approval. Humans request, vampire request the list seemed to never end. Let's just say I'm not happy to see this office. My staff on the other hand are more than happy to see me, some were a little disappointed that I didn't bring my wife to work with me. I promised them the next time I'm in office I'd bring her along. The phone rang off and I answered. It's a call from the council giving me the go ahead for fathers Birthday ball. They also faxed me a list of Council members that would be attending, their safety after ours is number one. It's not that we need their approval. My father is the highest ranking of them all. But he can't handle everything on his own so he chose three of his most thrust worthy people and made them the people who look over us. There isn't anything that happens that they don't know. They may pretend they don't but they do. After a long day of paperwork and meetings I headed home to find Sol asleep in bed, she looks so peaceful when she sleeps it warms my dead heart. Taking a shower and changing into my pajamas I slid into bed with her and pulled her into my arms. Vampires don’t sleep so I don’t know why I even bother laying in bed for hours when I could be getting things done. But laying with Sol by my side is something different, it’s something I find myself wanting to do every night. She scrunches her little nose and opens those bright eyes and looks up at me, the look she gives me every night when she realizes she is no longer laying on her pillow. “Your home, what time is it?” “It's 10:00pm.” “Did you eat?” “No it's fine, I'll eat in the morning. Go back to sleep.” “I’ll go make you something, for me as well I'm hungry.” “Did you not eat?” “I didn't want to eat without you.” She pulled the blanket from her body and stretched her hand out for me to take. She placed me to sit around the table and walked towards the kitchen, her scream filled the room as the lights went on. Running in the kitchen I saw my father standing in front of the fridge eating a chocolate cupcake with another in hand. He smiles a wide smile and I just look at him, no wonder he's been putting on so much weight, he's been sneaking food. If he were only human he would have high cholesterol, high blood pressure as for sure he would have been on a diet program. “Are you hungry king Cedric?” Sol ask. “Just call me Cedric, father or anything else not king and yes I’m hungry.” He smiled. We both sat and looked on as she bounced around the kitchen grabbing sausage, lettuce, cheese, mayo. We offered to help but she refused. And to wash down the sandwiches we had a cup of green tea. “What was your childhood like Sol, if you don't mind me asking.” father asked. “Like another childhood, my sister and I would play with our friends. We would go on little things with our parents. We'd spend the night under the moon. We use to pretend we were married to the Prince of the moon.” she smiled. “The prince of the moon?” father asked. “Yeah, Prince Rye.” “Even as a child you wanted to marry me Princess.” “My sister was more obsessed with you.” “You have a sister. I thought your parents only had you and Kyro.” I ask. “ Yes, her name is R.. Emily. She isn't my sister, she was my friend but she was like a sister to me.” She took a bite of an herb sandwich. After talking and eating for a little while longer we made our way back up to our floor and climbed into bed. She laid her head on my arm and pulled the blanket over us both and slowly drifted off to sleep.
