Chapter 2

Tyler

I felt weird feelings towards the actions of the lady who was in the elevator recently. Maybe she can't speak, so I won’t bother her.

Heist! This day gave me a headache with what I'm thinking about things.

I was back to my senses and took off my eyeglasses. Furthermore, I also did massage my forehead. It just hurts, I was thinking of a way how and where to find Elaine.

It's getting me sick thinking every time where she goes. Where to find her.

I sighed.

It’s all my fault why she chose to stay away and never show up again.

I fiddled my phone and before the meeting in the conference room started, I stared at Elaine gentle face—a Stolen pic of her where she slept.

Likewise, I bitterly smile, whispering into the air.

“Please, Elaine, show up for a moment,”

I was weak and a little drowsy. I leaned back in the swivel chair and tightly closed my eyes. Furthermore, I heaved a sigh and took a deep breath.

“I'm so sorry, Elaine. Na miss na kita ng sobra. Alam kong huli na ang lahat para magsisi ako. Pero gagawin ko ang lahat mahanap ka lang.”

“I love you, I have loved you since the day you left me,” I said and bitterly smiled.

Inaamin kong naging masama akong asawa para sa kanya. Bagama't noon pa iyon, at kung sakaling mahanap ko siya. Ibibigay ko lahat nang gusto niya. Aakuhin ko ang responsibilidad na noon ay hindi ko kayang gawin at ipapakita kong gaano ko siya kamahal na hindi ko maipakita noon.

Doon ko lang napagtanto na mahal ko pala siya nang bigla niya akong iniwan, at nangyari noong nalaglag ang anak namin dahil sa kagagawan ko.

Mariin kong naihilot ang gitnang noo ko saka bumuntonghininga.

I left the office early to meet with Manager Park. It's been a year since I decided to let him manage my small publishing house. I didn’t sell that company. That was the first one I founded.

I wear my genuine smile at Manager Park and shake hands with him.

“Please, take a seat, Mr. Monteverde,” He said and pointed to the visiting chair.

I smiled and sat down.

He handed me a document, which I immediately accepted. When I opened up, there were great performances and feedback on the content.

“Sabi ko nga, hindi mauuwi sa wala ang pinaghirapan mo, Mr. Monteverde,” nakangiti niyang sabi.

“Then, I am most proud of having a loyal friend like you, Mike. Don't worry, the other investors will invest here by next week! ” I said that he smiled broadly.

“Oh by the way, Mr. Monteverde, I almost forgot, I'll just talk to my best employee—She's superb and kind. Wait a minute, excuse me!” He apologized and immediately dialed someone's number telephone and hung up after.

Kalaunan ay bumukas ang pinto at lumapit kay Mr. Park ang babae na nakasuot ng fitted na damit.

“Hello! Manager Park?” She greeted Mr. Park, and she took a glance in the direction where I sat.

Ngumiti lang ako sa kanya nang lumipat sa akin ang paningin nito.

“Kindly call Miss Guerrero, tell her I want to talk to her,” Mike commanded and I suddenly felt strange.

“Yes, Mr. Park!” the lady said and turned her back.

My heart is beating as well.

“Who's Guerrero, you mean?” I interrupted, and I curiously asked Mr. Park when the woman came out.

“Ah, iyon ba? Siya ang tinutukoy kong magaling at maaasahan kong empleyado. Sexy at maganda,” he replied.

“What is her name?” I asked as he frowned at me.

D*mn! I want it to be certain, so I want to know what her name is.

“It's Elaine Guerrero, why Mr. Monteverde, do you know her?” He asked in surprise as I stared into his eyes.

I paused for a moment and was glad I couldn’t figure it out.

“No, I'm just asking. ‘Cause I suddenly became interested in her,” I lied and smiled slightly.

“Looks like I have a rival now!” His response that obviously made me clench my jaw.

Elaine

Halos lumuwa ang mga mata ni Kathy mula sa direksyon ko nang makita niya akong pumasok.

“You’re late again, wow, huh! You seem to be abusing manager's kindness!” She said that I didn't care.

Baka masabunutan ko lang ang rebound hair niya.

I sighed. Kinagat ko ang kuko ko nang maalala ko ang huli kong nakita si Tyler.

Hindi ko na lang siya pinansin pa at dumiretso ako sa opisina ni Boss. Pagkapihit ko pa lang sa seradura ng pinto ay bigla akong kinabahan.

Hinawi ko ang buhok na sumasagabal sa mukha ko saka ako huminga ng malalim bago tuluyang pumasok.

Jeez. Kinakabahan ako, pero bakit? Diyos ko. Baka may nagawa akong kamalian?

I couldn’t understand myself as soon as I entered. I was suddenly nervous and heaved a sigh. Likewise, I just ignored my feelings and headed inside my boss desk.

I GREETED my Boss, who was obviously still busy talking with the man sitting in the visiting chair.

“Sir, pinapatawag niyo po ba ako?” tanong ko at ramdam kong nakatingin sa gawi ko ang lalaking nakaupo sa isang upuan at hindi na ako nag-abalang sulyapan pa ito.

Jeez, parang kilala ko siya.

“Yes, so you can sit down and we need to talk,” He then presented the vacant seat opposite where his guest was sitting.

Dahil nakayuko ako, hindi ko masyadong makita ang mukha ng lalaki. Pero sigurado ako, nakangiti ito. Hindi na ako nagdalawang-isip pa at umupo ako pero, bumalatay sa mukha ko ang pagkagulat nang mapagtanto kung sino ito.

“So, is she Miss Guerrero?” Tyler smiling said with the approval of Manager Park.

I stopped sitting and quickly stood up straight.

God, why did you let our paths cross again?

“Yes! She is Mr. Monteverde. Miss Guerrero, meets Mr.Tyler Monteverde, the new CEO of Montshire Enterprise. He is what I call my friend,” Manager Park smiled.

I let out a strained smile. I could also feel Tyler staring at me and I was about to melt.

“Ni-nice to meet you, sir,” I stuttered greet him.

Nakatitig siya sa mga mata ko kaya hindi nakaligtas sa akin ang malungkot niyang mga mata, repleksyon ng pangulila na hindi ko maintindihan kung bakit.

Napaiwas naman agad ako sa mga titig niya at doon ay napatingin ako sa nakalahad niyang kamay.

“It's nice to see you, Miss. Guerrero,” He held out his hand to me.

Bigla akong nakaramdam ng kaba. Nagdadalawang isip akong tanggapin ang kamay na inilahad niya sa akin. Ang kamay na naging dahilan ng paghihirap ko noon. Kamay niyang dahilan kung bakit ako laging nasasaktan at ang kamay niya ang dahilan kung bakit muntik na akong mawalan ng anak.

Pinipigilan kong tumulo ang luha sa aking mga mata habang nakatitig sa kanya. At kalaunan ay tinanggap ko ang kamay niya. Ngumiti siya, habang nakatitig sa mga mata ko. Mahigpit din niyang pinisil ang palad ko na para bang ayaw niya itong pakawalan.

“I'm glad that you're here,” he whispered, smiling before releasing my hand.

I felt millions of voltage flowing through my veins when I caught a glimpse of this man's face again.

“So, Mr. Park. I won't be long. I have an appointment with Mr.Tan after this!” He said.

He caught me staring at him then a genuine smile flashes on his lips.

“It's okay, Mr Monteverde. I have a good conversation so you can count on it!” Boss smiled back as Tyler turned his back and didn't look back.

I let out a heavy sigh before I turned to my boss and said goodbye.
