Chapter 9 Financial Status

Smith lifted his brows immediately, still peering back into her eyes, afraid of the true meaning of her statement, "And what do you mean by that, if I may ask?" Smith couldn't help but wonder what she meant by her statement, as it dawned on him that Mica might as well leave him to be with David.

Mica suddenly let out a smirk on the corner of her lips, sensing Smith's fear, it is a good thing he is quit afraid of her and what she can do, "Oh no, Smith, I only did this to teach Karen a lesson and I feel a little sorry that David is going to suffer in all of this too, Karen is still my friend after all, besides, I am not planning on taking her husband away from her, I only want his money so when I am done, I am going to run far away from him and off course, I will make sure to let him know the truth so that he can take his wife back," she moved closer to Smith this time, taking his gorgeous face in her hands, "that way Smith, you and I will leave this place to a more beautiful city and enjoy our lives together just as we have planned," she need to reassure him, besides, getting angry may not help her now she thought.

Smith gazes into her eyes, feeling a little skeptical about this but what choice does he have now, he knows Mica well that since her mind is set on this, he cannot stop her, but it is a good thing she still includes him in her plan, if only he can teach his heart when to love and when to stop loving, he would have ended this right now with Mica and reveal the truth to those poor couple, Karen and David, he said within him, still gazing at Mica, but as it is, he loves her way too much and that bits the s**t out of him, "are you going to make sure you two never have s*x?" Smith wanted her word on this, he cannot imagine her in David's arm, he knew the man is handsome, he has seen his picture in the papers and had seen him on TV, but has never met him before in person, and he knows that Mica like good looking guys, that's why she is with him in the first place, the only problem with him is his financial status.

Mica smile at his naivety, if only you know, Smith, he and I had s*x just last night, she said inwardly still smiling at him, "of course, I will not have s*x with him," she needs to reassure him if that is what he needs, "you know what, I will run to you whenever I feel like it, alright? Just as I am feeling right now," she leaned forward and kissed his lips tenderly.

Smith's pupils widened, he suddenly felt a rush of emotion going through his body and the anger he feels dispersing from him almost immediately and this is what he hates about himself the most, he hated this effect Mica has on him,, it is as if Mica's kiss has some kind of strange magic in it, that all he feels like doing now is making a passionate love to her, if for anything, to remind her that he is the only one who know how to work her body even though he has no money, at least she has admitted to him in regards to that before, "You better do, darling, you better," Smith said in a husky voice, sounding like he did some minutes ago when Mica stroked his bare chest, he quickly put his lips on Mica's lips which feels strangely awkward to her unlike it used to, but without wondering why she let herself yield to his kiss and everything else as this is the assurance she needs to give to Smith in other to support her marriage with David Anderson.

Karen practically stayed awake all night in Mica's small living room waiting for Mica to come home to her house, she dozed off a few times though but something in her keeps waking her up each time she dozed off as if to remind her of her trouble and a reason for her to be awake, she never expected Mica too to leave her all by herself alone in her house without even calling or texting to tell her that she will not be able to come home.

She called her phone a couple of times but Mica did not pick up and this got Karen even more worried and agitated, peeking at the small clock hanging on Mica's living room wall, Karen saw that it was already past 10am, "what could have happened to Mica?" Karen muttered, robbing her palms together to try and keep them from quivering. She hopes all is alright with her dear friend, or could it be that the party in her work place lasted all night?" She muttered again and then went for her phone to try and call Mica again, just when the phone started ringing she heard footsteps walking towards the front door of the living room.

"That should be Mica," she muttered to herself again and rushing towards the door still holding her phone to her ears, she pushed the door open immediately she got to it and low it was Mica standing in front of her, "Oh Mica…" Karen unconsciously threw her arms around her, feeling excited to see her back in one piece.

Mica froze at Karen's reaction as she never knew Karen would still be like this after leaving apart in a long time now, Karen has always been like this back then when they lived together in the Orphanage, she has always acted this caring and worried whenever she goes out without letting her know where she's been and this kind of upsets Mica because to her Karen is overreacting, she bit her lower lip and slowly pulled Karen's arms away from her neck feeling irritated but trying not to let Karen see how irritated she is right now.

Karen unwrapped her arms around Mica, feeling a little embarrassed herself for reacting this way when she saw Mica, "I am sorry, Mica," Karen muttered trying to compose herself and peeking at Mica from under her lashes, she think she startled her, "I was very worried since you did not come home last night and you did not take my calls as well," Karen muttered again, hating herself right now for being this way, she thinks Mica is not pleased judging by her facial expression right now.

Mica stared at her, hating that she could still act this way even after staying in a refined environment for over two years, she should have at least adapted to the change and status David Anderson bestowed upon her, but clearly, she is still the same as before, it does not suit her anyway, the position as David's wife but all that is about to change, "it's alright Karen, you do not need to apologise, besides, I should have called or texted you when I knew that I would not be able to make it back home, you know, I am not just used to it especially since we do not live together anymore and I do not know that you will be worried about me," Mica scoffed a little.

Karen looked at her a little puzzled by her facial expression now, and wondered why she scoffed the way she did.

"I am a big girl now, Karen, I have been living on my own for over two years too, and to tell you the truth, I do spend the night most times away from my home even when it is not in your house," Mica walked past her ignoring her facial expression, she can't wait to see her reaction when she tells her what her husband, David had to say, and the thought alone lightened her mood inwardly, feeling happy that she was able to convince Smith to come on board with her in the new plan, after all the aim of the whole plan is to try and get money from David.

Mica chuckled inwardly a little when she recalled Smith's facial reaction when she had told him about David's proposal, how much more Karen's, but she had promised Smith that she would leave David when the time is right and run away from David, that is after she must have taken enough money for them both to live comfortably in another city, "let me freshen up first Karen, I will tell you how things went with David," Mica turned to face Karen, knowing that she is going to ask her about him next.

Karen nodded in response almost immediately, fondling with her fingers, she was going to ask Mica how it went with David, "you go ahead and freshen up then Mica, I'll wait right here," she added, pointing at the old sofa in her small living room.

Mica flashed her a werry smile and turned towards her bedroom, she need to also figure out a way to convince Karen to agree to her marriage with her husband, David without arousing any suspensions from her, she needs to continue to show that she is a good friend as she doesn't want her to realise it until she has achieved her aim.
