Chapter 8 – Rumours

1105 Words
Washing up my dishes from breakfast, I stared at the water flowing from the tap running down the drain. What had I done? What did I do? My thoughts came crashing down like a wave over my heart, “Earth to Alice.” Snapping my head up, I watched my mother hand waving back and forth in front of my face. “Oh so you are there. Did you hear me? Heath is coming back tonight from his work conference, but I have to go out for a late lunch. I will try my best to be back on time, but eat without me if he gets home.” Turning around the clack of her heals signalled her leaving before I could even manage to take in her words. Heath was coming back home today, tonight. He was going to be here. Walking back to my room an odd sensation ran through my body, I had no idea how I felt, my heart was racing, my palms were sweaty, and I could not concentrate on a single thought in my mind. Shaking my head to dislodge the sensation, I walked to wardrobe taking out my clothes for work. Pulling on my shirt, I grabbed my keys heading for the front door. Work, I had to work, I had to move out, do not think of anything else other then work. I had been saving for a long time now, not much long and I could afford my own apartment. My studies were nearly completed. As soon as I graduated I could find a higher paying job, but for now waitressing would get me through. It would get me the apartment I needed to start my new life, one without my mother affairs, trials and tribulations. One with privacy. Sliding into my car, I drove the short distance to the restaurant. I only had to get through the shift, get my money, my tips and return home without thinking about Heath. Then I could stress to my hearts content, but right now I needed to concentrate. Walking up the asphalt ramp, I moved through the glass door to spot my boss. Turing to face me, a stern look crossed his face as my heart sunk in my chest. Stepping out from behind him, Eric’s eyes locked onto my own before he turned walking behind the bar with a smirk clearly covering his face. Taking a deep breath, I walked forward meeting my boss halfway to the counter. “Eric seems to think you can no longer do your job here properly, he tells me you are taking customers home with you.” I could feel air burning at my unclosing eyes as I tried to think of how to respond to such an accusation. Was Eric trying to get me fired. “Do not look so worried Alice, I heard it was not a clean break. He is clearly a bit upset.” His facing turning back to a small smirk, “come on, come in, let me know if Eric gets too rowdy. I can always start splitting your shifts.” “Thanks Scott.” A relieved breath leaving my chest I kept walking towards the back. For a second I almost thought he was actually going to believe Eric. “Oh umm Alice.” Pausing, I turned around to look back at Scott. Taking a step forward he closed the distant between us lowering his voice considerably. “Do be wary of who you see though Alice, I don’t know the full story.” His hands raising, he seemed quite harmless as he appeared to not want to get involved, but then he said it. “But men can be dangerous. Just be careful who you let into your home. You do not want to go down the same path as your mother.” My teeth clenching together, I could not believe my ears, was he serious. Anger getting the best of me my muscles tightened, my clothes tightening around my flesh. Keeping my tone as level as possible I felt so ashamed, so embarrassed. Was he calling me my mother, did he think I was sleeping around? Is that what Eric was saying to everyone? “You know what, don’t bother splitting our shifts. I quit.” Turning around, I started to walk right back out the door I had just came in. “Alice!” Scott’s voice projected loudly, but I ignored him. Walking quickly, I moved back to my car getting in. Slamming the door shut behind me I turned the key in the ignition driving back towards home. Unable to even control myself I pressed down on the accelerator. Tears rimming my eyes, my vision became impaired as I wiped at my face. Reaching my street something caught my eye, it was a person. Panic washing through me, I slammed on the breaks, my car came to a screeching halt that echoed down the road. Wiping at my eyes, my heart was a flutter as I threw my door open. “Sorry, I’m so sorry.” This person, I could have killed this person. Getting out the car, I felt my whole body tremble. My knees were shaking, threatening to crumble under my weight as I tried to move further forward. “Alice.” I knew that voice, I would know that voice anywhere. Rubbing my eyes again, I tried to clear my vision as my knees buckled underneath me. Looking up Heath stood before me, starting to walk with deep strides towards me. With his business suit hugging tightly to his muscular frame, he crouched down next to me reaching out his hands. Pulling me up to my feet his hands rested on either side of my face. “What are you doing Alice?” A rumble of what I could only assume was anger reached my ears as he slightly turned his face away from mine. It was as if he was unable to even look at me. “Do you know what, let’s talk about that later, give me the keys. Get inside and freshen up, ill speak to you when I come in.”   Read ahead on my p*****n https://www.patreon.com/tigerlillie60 Also gain access to early chapters of this book and my other each week as well as weekly erotic one shots.
