*Leo’s POV*
“I never sent you my sincerest apologies for what you are going through. If you need anything—” He was saying before I lifted my hand.
“Actually. I would like to talk to all of your men that you had with you the day of the opening.” I told him as his eyes grew wide.
He cleared his throat before speaking again. “Of course, but I don’t see how that is necessary.” He stated.
“Well, too bad I don’t care what you think. My wife went missing that day and I will question everyone that was present. Of course, it is just questions… For now.” I told him as I fixed my collar before leaning forward. “You wouldn’t have a problem with that, would you?” I asked him with a raised brow.
“You wouldn’t be threatening, would you?” He countered, leaning closer too.
Out of the corner of my eyes, I noticed his guys position themselves closer as their hands reached for their guns.
The fūcker’s phone rang, breaking the tension momentarily. He quickly grabbed it out of his suit jacket before looking at the screen. “I have to take this.” He said as he stood to his feet and walked out.
Samuel muttered a curse word from behind me, making me turn to face him. “All good?” I asked him as he walked closer to me.
He leans down to whisper in my ear. “I just received a message that Lala’s in the hospital.” He said through clenched teeth.
“What the f**k?” I shouted, standing on my feet. “Get someone on the line.” I told him.
He quickly dialed, handing me the phone. I brought it to my ear right as one of my guys answered.
“What happened to my sister?” I shouted, impatiently.
“Capo.” He gulped. “Um... I was informed that she was fine. It was only a few stitches.” He replied.
“Send me the fūcking address. I’m on my way.” I told him before handing the phone back to Samuel.
I grabbed my suit jacket before walking towards the door. The two guards were blocking my exit.
“If you don’t want your families’ to receive your heads in a gift basket with your dīck coming out of your mouth, I suggest you move the f**k out of my way.” I said through clenched teeth.
They moved instantly, allowing me to pull open the door. As I was walking out, Rossi was returning.
“Mr. Caputo, I have an emergency. We will have to postpone—” He was saying as I lifted my hand.
“Of course, we will postpone. I haven’t even started. My men will reach out.” I told him as I walked past him.
Samuel and Eleazar were hot on my heels as we exited the building. “I want eyes and ears on him twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. I don’t trust that fūcker." I told Eleazar as he opened my door.
“You don’t think—” Samuel was saying before I glared at him.
“At this point, I don’t even trust my shadow. He may not know where she is, but I sure as hell think that he was involved.” I told him as Eleazar sped the car away from the Luxembourg Palace.
*Mya’s POV*
I felt fear. I felt loneliness. But most importantly, I felt lost.
I have no idea what happened to me. All I know is that I can hear voices around me and that I can’t open my eyes.
I heard the fuzzy voices come and go for what seemed like hours or days even.
As time went on, the voices became less faded, and my body felt less far away.
“The patient should be awake soon.” I heard a voice say.
“Je vais appeler le sénateur.” (French for “I will call the senator.”) Someone else replied.
Hmmm. I know that language, or at least I think I know it.
The voices moved further away before a door opened and closed.
My mouth felt so dry and my eyes so heavy. God! What happened to me for it to be so hard to even wake up?
I fought to squeeze my eyes closed to force them open, but it was the hardest thing I think I had to do in my life.
I finally found success when my eyes flickered open, but the light was too bright to keep them like that. I blinked slowly a few times before my eyes finally adjusted to the brightness.
I looked around the room, taking everything in.
Where am I? How did I get here? Where is 'here'? Wait a minute. Who am I?
I started to panic as a loud machine started beeping out of control next to my ear.
Oh my God! Oh my God. I broke it.
“Mrs. Rossi, please calm down.” Someone with a white coat said as he ran inside.
“Rossi? Who is that? Who are you?” I asked with brows furrowed as I scooted away.
I didn’t trust this person. Was I not a trusting person?
I felt too weak to jump out of the bed and run off, but I knew that as soon as I had the opportunity, I would definitely run like the wind.
“Yes. You are Isabella Rossi. The senator’s wife.” The person stated.
Senator? Wife? Me? How old am I? Am I old enough to be married?
I felt my heart beating out of control again as the man approached me.
“Get away from me! I will scream!” I warned him.
“Mrs. Rossi, I am only trying to help. This will make you feel better.” He whispered as he pulled a needle out, making my eyes grow wide.
“Stop!” I yelled as I pulled the thingy majigger out of my arm. “Ouch!” I groaned, jumping off the bed.
“Mrs. Rossi—” He was saying before I shouted again as my hands flew to my head.
I shook my head like a mad woman. “Stop! Stop it! You are making my head hurt! I don’t know a Mrs. Rossi!” I shouted.
“No? So, who are you?” He stopped as his head tilted to the side.
“I- I- Well.” I stopped to scratch my head. Who am I? I’m not sure, but I don’t like the sound of Rossi.
“Exactly.” He said with a smirk as he walked closer.
“Don’t you take another step!” I shouted at him as my eyes quickly roamed the room.
He took that distraction as an opportunity to jump on me, aiming the needle to my neck.
I stumbled on a silver-plate looking thing.
‘That should do.’ I thought as I grabbed it and slammed it against his head just as he inserted the needle.
He fell unconscious before he could release the contents of the needle in my neck.
I looked at the plate thingy in my hand and then at the motionless body in shock. I did that? Was I some kind of superhero before? Oh, I so wish. I mean, not with that name. Rossi? Yeah, it didn't sound like someone that could save the day.
I heard footsteps nearby, making me freak out and hide behind the window curtain. The steps continued down the hall, making me relax momentarily.
I need to get out of here as soon as possible. I grabbed the guy’s needle before jogging out the door.
I felt so weak, but I couldn’t let that stop me. I tried acting cool as people walked past me. Thank God no one tried stopping me.
When I turned the corner, I sprinted down the hall, keeping my eyes down and hair in my face.
Where the hell was I going? God, I didn’t know, but eventually there had to be a sign, right?
I turned left just as I looked back to confirm that no one was following me. Before I could turn back, I ran into something hard.
God! Memory or not. It didn’t take a rocket scientist to know to always look where you were going.
“I’m sorry.” I heard a soft voice say, making me look up. Something about that voice… I couldn’t quite put my finger on it.
