CHAPTER 1
Amara was lost in her thoughts looking over the window.
In the classroom, her classmates were solely focused on listening to their instructor.
A tall guy with a distinguished eyebrow suddenly walked past the window causing Amara to regain her focus and looked at the guys back.
'He oddly seemed familiar to me.' She thought.
Amara still can't believe that she just traveled to the parallel world.
'Did I trigger something making me travel into this world while I was asleep?' she wondered.
Amara was still looking at the guys back, still trying to figure out the feeling that the guy gives off.
"Amara!"
"Amara!"
Called the girl wearing a heavy make up who's sitting beside her.
She immediately shrugged her thoughts and looked over to the girl with a heavy make up while wearing a serious face.
Amara looked with questioning eyes.
She's still not used to seeing her best friend in her world who has a simple look, and would be looking like this in the parallel world. With heavy make up.
The good thing is they are still the best of friends.
"There you go again."
Calliah, the girl with heavy make up, says while rolling her eyes.
"What?"
Amara asked innocently.
"Lady! Stop giving me that serious face. You're acting weird lately."
Calliah answered.
Amara was immediately taken back.
'I forgot, the Amara in this world has a bubbly personality. Which is the total opposite of me.'
she thought.
Amara tried to give Calliah a reassuring smile but it turned into a creepy smile. Making Calliah scream and throw her bag at Amara's direction.
"Amara!!!! Seriously I'm starting to feel like calling a priest over here."
Calliah exclaimed.
"Ms. Monroe! Ms. Solace! You're disturbing the class!"
The teacher warned them of, causing the whole class to look over their direction.
Amara began to feel uncomfortable under the scrutinizing gaze of her classmates. This made her face look even more serious than usual.
Calliah on the other hand just pretended like she wasn't the one being called by the teacher.
"If you ever make a loud noise again, I'll be seeing you at the detention."
The instructor warned before continuing the lesson.
A minute later, when everything returns to normal, Calliah slowly leans towards Amara's direction.
As soon as Amara noticed her sly act she immediately warned Calliah without looking in her direction.
"Don't talk to me."
Calliah pouted in response while going back to her original position.
"You're sooo mean."
Amara didn't respond and continued to look over the window of their classroom.
Hoping to see the figure she saw earlier.
She didn't know why, but she felt confused and alone. In this parallel world, she had no one to share her worries and her burden. Amara felt like crying, but she doesn't want to entertain and delve into the melancholic feeling she's having right now. Because she knows, once she cried, her tears won't stop. Amara felt pity for herself. The feeling that she hated the most.
She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and after a minute or so, she opened her eyes back and the self pity that she felt slowly disappear in her eyes and was replaced by those emotionless one.
'I'll be okay.' She thought. Trying to reassure herself, Amara tried to smile, but she felt even more horrible on the inside.
"Amara."
Calliah called.
Amara immediately cut off her train of thoughts and looked at Calliah's direction.
"What."
She said. Putting on her serious face and trying hard not to let any of her emotions showed.
"Are you okay?"
Calliah asked in a worried tone as she took a closer look at Amara's face.
"What made you think that I'm not?"
She asked back frowning.
But underneath the armchair, Amara was pinching herself hard. She doesn't want to show her real feelings to anyone. Not this feeling.
'I've had enough of self pity and I don't need to feel anyone's pity.' was her thought.
"Nothing. I thought you were sad but maybe I'm just imagining things. Let's grab a snack later?"
Calliah said with a bright smile on her face.
For a moment, Amara felt like crying, somehow, Calliah's presence eased the melancholy she felt earlier.
"Up to you."
She answered with a shrugged.
