Alone I grabbed my martini and a cigar and walked out onto my second-floor terrace. Standing there staring at the sky, I said to myself, “It’s going to be a beautiful sunset tonight.” I set my drink down onto a small table and sat on a chair beside it. As the sky darkened to a deep blue sky and the large clouds began to show red and pink, I thought how sad to not have anyone to share this moment with. I finished my martini, got up, and made myself the third of the evening. Returning, I sat watching the day slowly slip away into the night and started thinking about the past three years. My first book had just become a bestseller. I finished the book tour and decided to finish getting a language degree in Italian. I own a home there, after all.
