Chapter 5George blinked to clear his vision as he parked by the town square. Mira, Hunter, and June were in the car with him, but no one spoke. Having Mira wasn’t any problem, but he was more tired than usual today. He’d been listening through the night, afraid she’d wake and wonder where she was, but she’d slept soundly until he’d woken her at half-past two in the morning. He’d wrapped her in the cover and carried her out to the car. June did the same with Hunter every night. There was a small office in the bakery with a two-seat sofa.
