Chapter 63 - Awakening
Isabelle glanced at the four guards outside the king’s room, all of them wearing full armor and holding their weapons as if expecting an attack. None of them tried to stop her as she followed the maid in with Anitra right behind her. As they stepped into the king’s chambers, she noticed the place was almost empty. She had expected more soldiers, but inside she found only Joel Driennon and another maid that was reluctantly helping him put on armor. “Your Majesty...” Isabelle started, stepping closer to him. He seemed surprised for a second, then he closed his eyes, sighing. “You shouldn’t be here, my dear lady,” he whispered, looking back at her. “You need to leave immediately.” His eyes moved to Anitra, then to the door. “Where is your Guardian? No, no matter. Take my guards and go now.
