Jaden stepped out of the king’s chambers, letting out a heavy sigh. His father’s condition hadn’t changed in the past few days, waking up only once to have some food and medicinal herbs fed to him before falling asleep again. His physician had assured them that the king would be fine in a few days, or as fine as a man in his frail condition could be, but looking at his father’s shallow breathing and paper-thin skin, Jaden had a hard time staying optimistic.
