It was hot in the dessert sun as Radames rode on his horse to try and get to the Nile. He would take a boat from there and go somewhere else with no reminders of Bastet. As he rode, he saw a figure in the distance. She sat in the shade of a palm tree and it looked like she was waiting for him.
As he got closer, he knew who she was. He stopped his horse and climbed down. The Goddess Bastet looked at him.
“Running away from your problems child?” She asks him.
He sits next to her. “More like running towards a place with no memories to haunt me. I miss her, too much.”
The Goddess smiled at him giving him a catlike grin. “We all miss her. But I do have news for you. Although I am not sure I should tell you. After all you hate us gods.” She says her tone playful.
Radames lets out a sigh, “I was angry forgive my disrespect my dear Goddess.” He says his voice dripping with sarcasm.
Bastet shook her head, “Well I guess you don’t want the new I have.”
Radames looks at her, “Alright I'll bite. What is this news you have for me?”
Bastet stretches and then answers. “Your beloved Bastet, that was a tragedy. I had to watch her die and could do nothing to intervene. It was heart breaking but I gave her hope. I told her that this was not the end for her. That she would get a chance to be with you again.”
Bastet took a moment to watch Radames reaction. Radames took a moment and then responded.
“What do you mean by she'll get another chance with me?”
Bastet smiles, “My namesake is special she was blessed by the gods. Because she is so special, we have given her a special gift. She will have the ability to be reborn. But it will never be in the same place more than once. She is to be born again but not for a long while. In a couple hundred years she will be born again. But not here. Bastet will be born in a world far different than this one. And if you ask nicely, I can tell you the day and time she will be born along with the country.” Bastet tells him.
She could have given him her new name as well but Bastet wanted him to do some work to find her. Radames could not contain his excitement.
“Please Goddess I beg of you. Tell me where to find her!” He pleads with her.
She pats his hand. “In the month of October on the thirty first rise of the sun she will be born. When dawn is rising around 6 ticks of time. In a large place called Italy. If you were wise you would take some of the wealth of Egypt and make a place for yourself there. Make a name for yourself that will help her guide her to you. Then when the time is right seek her out.” Bastet advises him.
Radames nods, “But will she look the same?”
“Of course not, nor will you. With time your features will change to suit your needs so you can hide within plain sight of everyone.” She answers.
Radames let us all of what he has been told sink in. He would go to Bastet's resting place and take the wealth he had hidden there, then he would travel to this place called Italy and make a name for himself. Then when it was time, he would find her.
“I have a final gift for you.” Bastet says. She places a small figure into his hand. It is the figure of a black panther.
“This is a familiar friend. When she lives so will Ankanah. He will be your way of knowing she has arrived and he will help lead you to her. I wish you luck Radames.” With those final words she slowly disappeared in the wind.
Radames carefully packed the gift in his things and continue his journey. He stopped to get the hidden wealth and to say goodbye again to his beloved Bastet. Then he continued his way to the Nile. He boarded a boat and started the next part of his long journey...
