Radames made the last announcement being Pharaoh. “I'm stepping down as Pharaoh, the former Queen shall be taking over.”
With that announcement he left the throne room, he packed some clothes and he left on a horse. Radames went to the one place he felt a little happy at. He went to his first home with Bastet. It had not had any use in over a year. Not since he had brought Bastet here to cope with the loss of their child. He went inside and looked around, there was dust and cobwebs everywhere.
Radames got to work cleaning their home. He dusted and then swept up all the cobwebs, he scrubbed the floors clean. Washed their bedding, waited for it to dry then made the bed and fell onto it. He was mentally and emotionally exhausted. His heart was broken. All those years he spent ruling had taken a toll on him.
All he had wanted to do was mourn and get his grief under control. But he had not been given the chance. He still tried praying to the Goddess Bastet and to his father. But he never got the answers he was seeking.
The Gods had promised he would have a soulmate. They never said she would be taken from him. Radames knew though that if he had offered to make her immortal she never would have accepted once she found out what the cost was. Radames knew that Bastet would never sacrifice an innocent soul to the Gods and Goddesses.
She was not that selfish. It was one of the many things he loved about her. Radames laid in their bed and let out a sigh. He was going to be alone for the rest of eternity and there was nothing he could do about it. And there was nothing in his heart and soul that made him think he could let go and move on.
Radames did not think life could get any worse. He had lost his child and then his wife and his future looked bleak. He grew angry at the Gods and Goddesses of Egypt and he began to hate them. In a fit of pain and fury he rose and began destroying all the statues of the Gods and Goddesses. Then he did the unthinkable.
Radames went too far, he poured oil throughout the house and lit a fire. He laid on the oil-soaked bed and watched as their home burned around him. He laid there his eyes burning with tears. If he could not get rid of his pain maybe he could burn the memory of her away.
The fire was getting close to reaching him when suddenly, a strong wind and rain came through the house putting the fire out. The Dark God Anubis came out from the shadows and he was angry.
“That was foolish boy.” He says.
Radames sits up and looks at his father. “Well what did you expect? I was given my soul mate and then she was taken from me. How am I supposed to react?”
Radames gets angry and hurt, Anubis sits next to him. “Fate has a hand in everything, foolish boy. For whatever reason this needed to happen. In time the reasons why will reveal itself to you in time. Even the Gods do not always know. Be patient it’s not the end of the world.”
He puts a hand on his son and then disappears. Radames is left even more confused. But he trusted in what his father tells him. So, he makes the decision that will affect the course of his life.
He decides to leave and go to a new land, one far away...
