On the morning of her twenty-first birthday Bastet awoke to find herself alone in her room. She was so tired that she did not see the black shadow slithering across her floor. She put her feet on the cool marble floor and sleepily walked over to the wash basin. Just as she put water in her hands and began splashing her hot face it happened. The black Egyptian asp struck, it hit her bare thigh, not once but twice. Bastet fell to the floor and laid there as the poison paralyzed her and crept up to her heart.
The Goddess Bastet appeared and destroyed the asp. She knelt next to Bastet and said softly, “I'm sorry child that this is your fate. But this is how your life shall be. One day I will explain but know this is not really the end for you. You will have another chance at a life and love with your soul mate. Now rest.”
She kissed her forehead to ease the pain. With tears falling Bastet closed her eyes and let out a final breath. Radames felt a change in his soul, it was a pain unlike anything he had ever felt before. He dropped what he was doing and ran to their bedroom. When he got there, he saw his beautiful Bastet laying on the cold marble floor.
He ran to her side and gently pulled her into his arms. “Bastet? Kitten?” He softly whispered.
His eyes were filling with tears. He felt no heartbeat, her body was slowly getting colder. Radames buried his face in her and the tears fell as he aid here name in a whispered chant, “Bastet, Bastet.” Praying that she would wake up by some miracle of the gods.
But no amount of praying was working. He finally cried out for the guards who ran for a healer but Radames new it was too late. He took her body to their most sacred place and along with Bastet's mother prayed and pleaded with the gods.
The god Horus told them, “Your beloveds soul belongs to the Goddess Bastet and the God Anubis you must beseech them.”
So, they did but to no avail. They received no answer from the Goddess or God. So, the Queen Bastet was given a royal mummification and laid in a pyramid built only for her. Radames could not handle his grief and he wanted to leave. However, Bastet's mother named him Pharaoh and he was forced to stay.
Radames tried his best to rule the people as his beloved had. After a few years had passed his beloved's mother pleaded with him to find a woman to heal his grieving heart for it was affecting the people. She brought maiden after maiden and he refused them all.
His heart would remain empty for no love could compare to his Bastet's. HE continued to rule and try to keep the people happy. But finally, the day came when he stopped caring. Nothing mattered anymore, he had no love or compassion left in his heart.
His punishments for wrongdoers became harsher than they needed to be. He would sentence people to death for stealing bread even if they were starving. The kingdom was falling apart. Radames was falling apart and he knew it was really time to leave...
