Chapter 19

613 Words
Johnson's POV_ I waited anxiously outside the therapy room, worried about how Vee was doing. When she finally emerged, she looked more at peace than she had in weeks. "Hey," I said, taking her hand. "How was it?" Vee smiled weakly. "It was good. I think I'm starting to understand some things." I squeezed her hand. "I'm proud of you for going, Vee. That takes a lot of courage." As we walked out of the office, I couldn't help but feel a sense of hope. Maybe therapy would be the key to helping Vee heal and find happiness again. Maybe we could get our lives back on track. But as we walked in silence, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was still a lot of work to be done. Vee's past was complicated, and I knew that it wouldn't be easy for her to overcome. As we got into the car, Vee turned to me and smiled. "Let's go home," she said. "I want to spend some time with the kids." I smiled back, feeling a sense of relief. "Sounds like a plan to me." As we drove home, I couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude towards Mr. Gabriel. He seemed to understand Vee in a way that I didn't, and I was grateful for his guidance. When we got home, the kids were excited to see us. They bombarded Vee with questions about her day, and she patiently answered each one. I watched, feeling a sense of pride and love for my family. As we sat down to dinner, Vee reached out and took my hand. "Thank you for being here for me, Johnson," she said, her eyes shining with tears. I squeezed her hand. "I'll always be here for you, Vee. We're in this together." The kids chimed in with their own words of love and support, and for a moment, everything felt right with the world. But as we finished dinner and the kids went off to do their homework, Vee's expression turned serious. "Johnson, I think I'm ready to talk to Rachel," she said. My heart skipped a beat. "Are you sure?" I asked. Vee nodded. "I need to do this. I need to confront her about the past and figure out how to move forward." I took a deep breath. "Okay, let's do it." I nodded, feeling a mix of emotions. I knew this conversation was necessary, but I was also worried about how it would affect Vee and our family. "Let's do it tomorrow," I said. "We'll talk to Rachel and set up a time that works for everyone." Vee nodded, looking determined. I could see the resolve in her eyes, and I knew she was ready to face whatever came next. The next day, we sat down with Rachel in the living room. The tension was palpable as Vee began to speak. "Rachel, I need to talk to you about the past," Vee said, her voice steady. "I need to know why you left Sophia. Why did you abandon her." Rachel looked taken aback, but she nodded. "I'm so sorry, Vee. I was young and scared. I didn't know how to be a mother." Vee's expression was a mix of emotions. "That's not an excuse," she said. "You hurt a lot of people when you left." Rachel nodded again, tears streaming down her face. "I know. I'm so sorry for the pain I've caused. I want to make things right, Vee. I want to be a part of this family." The conversation was raw and emotional, but it was also a start. We were finally talking about the past and working towards healing.
