First Day of Work
It was just wrong to fall for her, she was her workmate, who turned into a friend the very first day they met. Jess was feeling a little lost before she got her new job at one of best marketing agency in the country. It had been one year since she started feeling the need to change her job from a digital marketer to a write, what she thought she really was. She had been struggling with her old job and wanted to feel alive, for once in a very long time. In normal circumstances, she would be thinking of ways to please her very own girlfriend but she was not. She sat in the waiting room, staring at her, at her beauty. Scarlet was there, stunning but she didn’t seem to pay attention to anyone else but her computer. From where Jess was sitting, she could hear Scarlet, among other employees, typing on her computer. It was odd that she couldn’t keep her eyes off her, even though Scarlet did not seem to notice.
Only two people had been scheduled for the interview at HO Marketing Agency, Jess was one of them. She was nervous, she wanted to throw up. Losing this opportunity would crush her, she wanted it, she really did, especially after the horrible year she had had. She only hoped she was good enough, something she always doubted. She never knew how great she was, she was consumed by fear, fear of being around people and fear of failure. She was after perfection, she wanted her life to be perfect but it was not. As she sat in the waiting room, waiting for the other girl to be interviewed, she felt sick. She was sweating furiously, under her white shirt. Only this fear that seemed to distract her from staring at Scarlet who wore a white top. She couldn’t out what else she wore from the waist down since she was seated at her desk. Lucky for Jess, Scarlet finally moved from her desk and their eyes met. Jess quickly shifted her attention to her official pair of trousers. There she was, Jess thought to herself. Scarlet stood there, unaware that someone was actually staring at her. How could she not feel the wanting eyes on her? She was what Jess termed as perfect.
Her name was called, perhaps thrice, before she could answer. She was lost in her dirty, naughty own thoughts. She couldn’t remember the last time she had been attracted to anyone this much. She did not know her, or even her name and position at the company but she did know one thing, she wanted her.
“Jess, please follow me,” someone said, bringing her back to reality. She remembered that she was there for the job interview and not the beautiful creature standing in the other office.
“Uh,okay.” Jess said as she stood up from her seat. She was wearing a pair of white trousers and a white shirt and black sweater. From the back, you’d think she was a boy, from her physique and the way she walked, dressed or do anything. She was a bit masculine, a fact that had people second guessing about her sexuality, and not that it mattered to her. She felt right that way.
For some reason, she got Scarlet out of her head, after all, if she got the job, she’d at least get to know her. She stepped in the interview room, composed, for once in her life. She could feel herself sweating through the shirt and hoped for the interview to end soon. Again, she was confident about her background and previous work experience that she would land the position, which she did.
From the moment she received that one phone call accepting her for the copywriting position, she was sure it was the beginning of a new experience. A new career and a girl she seem to like very much. She only hoped that it would be mutual. She ran home and prepared to report to her new job the next day. That is where the story began.

The next day was exciting for Jess, she reported to work even earlier that she was told her to. And again there she was, alone in the small office.
“Hello,” Jess said hesitantly, not sure what else to say.
“Do you want some coffee?” Scarlet asked.
“Umh, sure.” Jess accepted and followed her to the kitchenette.
“So you got the job after all, I voted for you.” Scarlet said, in a soft voice, smiling at her.
“You did?” Jess asked, smiling back coyly. She made her cup of coffee and left for her desk downstairs.
She was now sure that she was attracted to her and could hardly get her off her head, no matter how much she tried. Jess thought of inviting Scarlet to her party in her apartment that was to happen the next week after she got her new job. Days went by and the two had been talking and for some reason, Jess could feel that she was not the only one feeling the attraction. She was convinced that Scarlet was special, not sure in what way but she was, or at least that’s how it felt, even when she knew very well she had someone else in her life.
