Chapter Three There are cons to being a werewolf.    Third Person’s Point of View “Mint, is that really you?” Louise’s voice was laced with shock from the second she had caught a glimpse of the first woman that she was connected to in this pack. Confused, she offered a small look to her mate, who is stuck immobile in his spot. The beads of sweat in his temple were very obvious as she was forming ideas in her mind.  He seemed terrified rather than perplexed. So, he knew about this...  Looking to the woman whom she is confused to see, questions filled her mind. Mint, despite her position in the pack, had always done her best to present herself well. Now, spotting that her clothes were unmodified was alarming. Not only that, but based on how Louise would remember things, Mint had worn the same clothes when she had supposed to leave them for her mate. If that is the case… then why is her friend that had gone missing days after Carson’s birthday was right here… standing before her? Louise was well aware that she had found her mate but looking at the state that she was in, that was hardly true. What had happened to her?  No... that’s not the right question. What had he done to her?  Remembering the Alpha that was before her and the record that he was with the rank that Mint has on the pack, Louise had acted quickly as she stood up from her and bowed for the female. “I have to apologize, Alpha. It seemed like we had some mix up with the staff. Please give me a second to clean everything.” Carson can’t even do anything as his mate had dragged Mint off the room, giving him little to nothing into keeping that woman back into his chamber. His hands were nothing but shaking into not having the woman back into his arms. f**k, many things had ended and on the brick out of his control because he needed to do things perfect for this son of a gun.  Looking into the man seated before him, he knew that there is something that he needed to fix, but all his mind could think of was that the woman he had been hiding would finally have her escape. What should he do?  Blue, unaware of the female was to his Alpha, had only sighed. This is what he got when he knew that he had failed to inform people to keep the unmated females before his Alpha. Not knowing that the rage was not inside the man, he finds another reason to leave. “Alpha, the Moonlight Pack also required your presence.” He muttered. “Good, it is better that we leave this sorry of a pack. Nothing could be more pathetic than this s**t show.” Leighton nodded, looking at the man with such a dangerous look. “Set your father to call me as soon as he could. For the sake of your pack’s safety, someone who can take the position of an Alpha should alert me as soon as he can.” Leighton did not even look back as he had left, having Carson run to where his mate was. His feet were quick into knowing that the passing second will lead to him having no control of her. Louise snarled from the scent that was drawing near as she pushed Mint inside her own room and locked it for his eyes to see. She had stood before the closed door, guarding the woman for her life. Her face looking back at the man with anger and a course of hate spiraling from inside her. “Louise.” He called, but she did not want to give him the satisfaction of having the power now. She had fought long and hard for the restraint that he had given her, and she will not let it get shouldered by his mistakes.  “You got to be f*****g kidding me, Carson.” She spitted the words with venom, having him close to backing away from the anger that was spiraling around her.  Carson, not having the realization of what is happening, offered a snarled. “Where is she?” “Where is she?! That is your f*****g question to this scenario?!” She gritted her teeth, strutting to the man that was supposed to her mate, someone who should understand her reactions and how she would manage everything around her. Instead of feeling calm by being near him, she was livid. Louise poses no sign of double thinking as she had grabbed him by the back of his neck and pulled him down to her level. “You have trapped her for two f*****g years for who the f**k knows where while telling everyone that she had found her mate and fled without informing any single one of her friends! Are you f*****g kidding me right now?” She could feel his anger by his warning growls, but she poses no attention to it.  Fuck his anger.  Screw him. From the second that she saw how horrible her friend looked and how the breaking of glass that was piercing in her skin did not affect her, Louise knew that something terrible had happened. Mint is a very naive child even back then. The child did not know a threat when she saw one. But she was also aware that the woman is nothing but a baby. A single shard of glass would have let her wince in pain, but it did not.  Louise could not believe that she had only found out all of this in such a little course of time. This man is really sick.  “You’re the future Alpha, Carson! Do you know how illegal your action is?” He replied with a gnarl, letting her hand lose her hold so he could stand straight. Even then, he could not also pose a single threat to the woman. She holds much more dominance than him. Despite her not having the title yet, Carson could not hold the torch to the woman's anger. Louise is a strong woman, clearly opposed to what he is. “She’s mine.” He replied with a voice laced with nothing but fear.  “The f**k she is, Carson! I am your mate, and never would she have any connection with you other than being her f*****g abuser!” Louise reprimanded, looking at him with nothing but disappointment. “For someone who claims to love the woman, you sure did a lot of torture for her in the last two f*****g years. I could not f*****g believe that you would stand this f*****g low.” Remembering all the times he was not present, and she would smell something different from him, she does not know that Mint had been doing that deliberately to inform someone of what is happening to her. While she had initially intended the woman to become someone she could stick herself into to be dominant in the pack, she really feels the need to protect her now. Not just as a friend… …but the future Luna of this pack. “And you’re going to let her face the very Alpha who was known to kill every omega that was set in his eyes?” She could not help but scream, fighting the urge to hit him. “I did not f*****g know that he would let her inside!”  Her brow furrowed to his words. “Are you f*****g kidding me?! That’s your answer?! It is common decency to have the f*****g cook offer him the food!”  Louise was slowly losing the control that she had; the anger surging into her body was too much. Not only was she now aware that her mate had some underlying feelings for his old friend, but he was keeping her locked and abused for two years.  “You disgust me.” She sneered. “How do you f*****g sleep at night!” His eyes grew dark. “With you by my side.” Louise paused, clearly offended by his words. She could not believe that she had allowed herself to be manipulated by the link and turn a blind eye to his bullshit.  “You are a f*****g asshole.” She gritted her teeth, fighting the urge to slap him hard. “I have informed your parents about this. She will never suffer in your hands again, Carson.” Carson growled to her words, raising his arms as Louise stood there and challenged him. She had tried her best to give the man what he wanted in a woman. Louise tried her best and all that she could offer to be accepted into his love, but he had drowned himself in a love that was never meant to be. She was his mate; she should have his love. But he focused it solely on his obsession with an affection he could not have. “Do it.” She stated, surprising the man.  While he is aware that Louise is not a person who would be soft and submissive, the fire in her eyes was an indication of a threat. She had more balls than he ever had for someone who does not hold single blood from an Alpha.  “I dare you to hit me, Carson.” She breathes, finally letting her emotions flow as she felt utterly defeated. He could see the struggle in her eyes as she spoke, the broken expression in her face into realizing that she had never had her mate’s attention or love. “Maybe inflicting me with your physical strength might actually finally give me the strength to reject you and end whatever the f**k you’re doing. Do it.” Carson struggled, for no matter how much he wanted to hurt her, his wolf could never let him do it. Louise was broken, though, and she was strong enough to grab his hands and want him to hit her. She wanted a reason to finally break the bond between them, a link that was forcing her to give him a hundred chances so she could finally have someone to love her back. She is tired of trying her best to be the better person in the relationship. She wanted to end things. There was never a manual that states that being a Luna was this hard and exhausting. She is not the same person as she was before. Louise is much stronger, sure... but the pain inside her is more severe than what she had when she had nothing. It all seemed easy when all she had were her ambitions that seemed so far fetched to people.  “Do it, you asshole! Hit me! Hurt me more!” She bellowed, finally breaking the walls that she had been building since she was a child. Her cries filled the hallway as she had shaken him. “Hurt me! Make me reject you, Carson!” A soft sigh escaped from him as he pulled the woman close to him, giving her what she needed for the second. There are reasons why he could not ever reject Louise even when he found out that she was her mate. For nobody could ever trample with the link of werewolves. He was not strong enough to overpower it. No one is ever strong enough for that. . . Leighton had never hated being a werewolf. For the years that he was plunged into a world that was beyond his capability, he had never had lingered any doubt or annoyance to his beast. As an Alpha of the pack and the dark knight, one would think that he has full control of his wolf. To how that speaks nothing of lies. From the second that he had walked off that pack and was planning to travel into another, he had high hopes of having a more productive meeting. He had no one stopping him from achieving this, but his mind thought it was funny to enrage him with specific ideas about their mate.  From the second that he sees red, it will not be a surprise if he walked back home with a whisper of unsettling thoughts about her safety. He was sure that the animal would project him pictures of events that he does not condone in any way. While the possibility of having a mate, especially in that woman’s position, does not really entice him in such a way—he needed to make some changes.  To how could he know that she was safe without having her near him? Should he register her in a psych ward? A small cringe escape from him as the ringing inside of him was too intense from that idea, already having him aware of how he was livid with that f*****g idea. It was not bad since she would be in a room filled with nothing but soft materials. That could never hurt her. “Bloody hell.” He grumbled, looking back at his warrior as he noticed that the beast was slightly getting control of his body. Unknown to the struggles inside his Alpha, Blue had continued driving with ease. He was driving too f*****g fast for Leighton. Usually, this idea would please him, but it was pissing him off as of right now. Knowing that he could handle another banter inside his mind, he had growled out the command. “Go back, Blue.” Blue, confused by the sudden command, looked back at his Alpha by the rearview mirror. “Alpha?” He asked, wanting some affirmation to his command. “Turn the f**k around, Blue.” Leighton all but growled, looking at him with such piercing black eyes. The man quickly nodded, knowing that the wolf was now in control of his Alpha. Blue felt a shiver, knowing he was locked in a small space to the very beast that is his Alpha's beast. He had quickly turned the car back around to the pack that they had driven off quite in haste without him caring much for the speed.  If his Alpha wanted something, he would be more than eager to give it. “Is there a reason that we are going back, Alpha?” He nodded, looking outside the window. “I have forgotten something.” “What could you have forgotten, Alpha?” “My folder.” His folder?  A frown settled into the man, seeing the folder that was prompted in his lap. There could never be something that will let his Alpha to come back to that place, and forgetting something is not a possibility to the man. Especially the folder that holds important files.  He was unsure if he should tell the man about it, but seeing that his wolf was influencing the Alpha, he would instead not get killed by the second that he had informed him of something that he was sure he needed to get back to. The pack is a disaster and for him to adhere to him to go back has his own reason. “Blue.” He called, eyes distant as they could. “How are you and Janine?” The man had easily smiled from the mere mention of his mate. Gone was his terror upon being blessed by the talk of his wife. “She and the baby are healthy. I can’t wait to get back home and see her again while ensuring that the baby is well taken care of. We also needed some ultrasound before anything.” Every man that he would ask holds the same answer. All would tell him the beauty of having a mate while he had been nothing but indifferent to the whole idea of it. Having to have a woman who has the power to end you is such a valuable thing.  It was unusual for him, especially since he is an Alpha. He does not understand how an Alpha could trust their woman into being loyal and just remain nothing but a woman could not ruin a person. Every woman that he had seen would always act kind and noble to him, but he had known better.  They are all like the rest. All of them pretend everything is fine but is ruining those they claim to love on the inside. The link of the mate is nothing but a stupid thing that bound two people to procreate; it’s nothing but a voice that says that you will have your access to someone you can f**k whenever you wanted. Someone to carry your child. Nothing more, nothing less.  “We have reached the pack, Alpha,” Blue announced they were given access into the land.     Everyone still gawks in his car as his beast seemed to be settling down. Leighton did his best to look around through everyone in the crowd. A single image of the woman who seemed small and thin seemed embedded in his mind, one that he feels like could never be erased from there.  She is an omega and is supposed to live in a space that was close to the packhouse. A little fragile thing like her could never be away from such a place. Just as he was busy looking around, he had caught the attention of a little girl from a distance. He frowned, keeping his posture straight as he looked closely. “Stop here, Blue.” As soon as the man heard his voice, the car slowly halted into a stop. From the second that it had settled into the side, he saw a head pop out of the window, only to pull it back in before her feet had escaped through the window. Is she planning on jumping from that height? Can she do that?  With a body that looks like even a strong gust of wind could drag her?  “Alpha?” Blue called. He frowned, giving him a gesture that automatically let his mouth shut. Leighton grinned as he saw her holding onto the balcony rails; her eyes were focusing on where she wanted to jump before she died. A small amusement lingered in his eyes, not thinking that she would actually jump from where she was. A part of his heart leaped from the second she had jumped from the height, clearly pushing it away from the second that he does. She is a werewolf; anyone of their kind can do that. Then again, it made him question why she had struggled. He saw how she had taken a second to gather herself, and the woman did not even shift to her wolf.  He was sure that this woman could jump from yet another additional floor despite her small body, and that should not be something that would have injured her. From the second that she was on the ground, she looked everywhere before she had dashed into an area inside the forest. She was in such a haste that it made him wonder why she seemed like she was terrified of something. Where is that little kitten going? ...and why did she leave using the balcony instead of using the door?  “Stay here, Blue. Keep the engine running. I needed to go see something.” He commanded, not even putting a second to wait for his answer as he had pulled himself out of the car and followed the small whimpering woman. If he was some rogue who could attack her, he had easily killed her from the second that he decided to follow her. His feet were light as he fought the urge to pound at her or teach her the basics of every self-defense that a wolf should establish.  Was she not trained?  Then again, she is an omega.  They are nothing but weaklings.  This little wolf was not aware that someone was following her, all because he was not making a single sound while following her. She was not aware that all wolves — especially warriors - could easily hide their sounds. “You’re still here. I am glad that at least one thing did not change.” She muttered, her voice gathering in the small place as she saw the lake. Leighton was doing everything he could to make sure that he could not get trampled by her scent. To his mind, the woman could not sense him because he was jumping through the trees, making less noise than what was physically possible. His scent was getting carried in a different direction, much farther than what she would be able to grasp.  He was confused when she had reached the lake. It was a beautiful sight, something that people like her who were used to the heat would like to engage in, but it seemed nothing but a fleeting image for him. While they do have some scenery in their pack, it would always be cold to dip, and everyone could freeze to death. Leighton doubts that it is the same here.  Instead of engulfing the scenery and loving all the surroundings, she looked defeated while her feet carried her through the dock. By every step that she takes, there was something thread of worry that had circled inside Leighton. He was sure that she wanted to achieve something from coming here. Leighton did not like this. She was already taking control of his senses.  Unsure of what was happening, the man had only stood a distance away from her. His stance was sure to attack anyone who dares to fight her off at any angle.  Mint did not even throw a single article of her clothes before she let out a small breath. With his brows creasing, Leighton was confused as she jumped into the very waters that surrounded her. Still unaware of what is going on, he continued looking at the view. Then he paused. He took a second to seek for her little head to pop up the waters. Unaware of his actions, Leighton had leaned forward, ready to dash if it was needed. As the second had turned into minutes, his eyes were slowly growing a little wide. Is she doing what he thinks she's doing?  Fuck!
