CHAPTER THREE

“Not all glitter is gold, not all people are human.”                                                                                       CHAPTER THREE Luna’s POV: I opened my eyes slowly, letting in the light, trying not to blind myself. My eyes were heavy and sore, but after a while they stopped looking so unusual. I looked around to try to understand where I was. It was a dark-walled room with dark wood furniture. The two giant windows in front of the bed showed a view of the snow-covered forest. The snow had increased greatly. I looked down at my body and realized that I wore a light pink sweatshirt and black soft fabric shorts. Suddenly the events started running through my mind. Who had changed me? I had gone with the man to his house. At least he hadn't killed me yet. But maybe it was just to see me suffer... I got up quickly from the bed and ran to the window. Everything was white. The trees sunk in the snow and the greenery of before could no longer be found. Suddenly everything started to cross my mind. They would want to kill me. Obvious. Or worse, they would want me to become some kind of slave... never again. It had no reason for him to be simply kind and to let me stay. No. He helped me because he wanted something in return. And I was afraid of what it would be. My hands went to the window lock and pushed, but the window didn't open. I tried to push again, harder, but the window didn't change. "These windows won't open." A hoarse voice made me stop what I was doing. I didn't need to turn around to know the man was there. The smell of burned phosphorus reached my nose. It was good. I turned slowly and as expected the black-haired, red-eyed man who nearly killed me in the woods was in front of me. He held a small pile of clothes and a plate with two sandwiches. He dropped the clothes on the bed without taking his eyes off me, sending a shiver through my body. "You should take a shower, I brought clean clothes." He said casting a glance at the clothes and then me again. "I brought you something to eat since you haven't eaten in days." He continued as he dropped the plate on the nightstand next to the bed, making me realize that there was also a glass of cold water. He didn't look at me and just left the room carrying his words with the wind. I kept standing at the window, just looking at the now closed door. I stared at the plate of sandwiches on the nightstand. The food looked tasty and my mouth salivated at the thought of biting the sandwiches. But I would not be fooled again. He used this trick a lot and I would not fall for it again. Ignoring the plate of food, I walked over to the pile of clothes he left on the bed. They weren't clothes of my taste, but they were better than what I wore while still there. I glanced at the door which probably led to the bathroom, and then the window again. I thought about running away again, but if I ran away now, he would find me and things would be worse than they already were. I walked to the door and opened it. The bathroom was large with gold accents, a large bathtub and a very modern shower. The fancy mirror showed my shattered appearance after running for days in the woods without rest, but some bruises were gone. I took a hard shower, taking off the crusted mud on my body for days. The water touching my hair and running down my body made me feel good and relaxed. I stepped out of the bathroom and put on the black short-sleeved T-shirt he had left for me inside the skinny dark jeans that was next to it. I was grateful that he put a thin black belt together, as the pants had gotten a little wide at the waist. I put on the sneakers that were there, and even if it was a little big, I didn't feel so uncomfortable. I combed my blond hair with my fingers and stared at myself in the mirror for a few seconds. I didn't look like a scared, frightened girl anymore, but I knew inside I was going nuts. I had to get out of there, but I was sure he was still looking for me, and I was afraid of where he would be waiting for me. I could not go back. No. That would never be an option. Even with Jenna there to help me, I wouldn't be able to live another day there. And depending on how many days I'd slept, he'd probably already sent men to NorthVile. So it was no longer safe either. Jasmine had said she could help me but I didn't want to get her into this. She had done so much for me. Besides, getting to Mexico alone as an omega wouldn't be easy at all. As soon as I opened the bedroom door, I found myself at the end of a long corridor full of doors. The staircase leading downstairs was at the end of the corridor, and beside it was a larger, more elegant door. As I began to walk, slightly hesitantly, one of the doors opened, almost slamming into my face, causing me to unconsciously take a few steps back. “Oops!” A slightly high female voice screamed as soon as she noticed that she had almost hit me. The girl left the room, quickly closing the door and turning to look at me. The girl was very tall. She had wavy orange red hair that fell to her waist, shaping her lean body. Her skin was pale with some freckles on her cheekbones, and her eyes were large emerald green balls. She could clearly be a Victoria's Secrets model. "I'm so sorry! I'm very clumsy and didn't even notice you were coming! Actually, I already told Charlie to fix this door, because like, it should open to inside or if not I'll always bump into people-- by the way, you're the girl they found in the woods, right? It's good to have another girl here, since all the women have already formed families and are living in their homes, I ended up being a little lonely because my mate is the beta and there is no way for me to get out of here--" Her fast words were cut off by a throat headdress from behind her. Our eyes went to the person behind the girl. The alpha was leaning against the elegant door frame, his arms folded and a serious stare on us. "Sheila..." he said in a slightly tired tone, as if to say, "We have talked about this many times before." “Ah… sorry… I talked a lot right? Sorry." The girl hurriedly turned back to me. "It was nice meeting you." Sheila, apparently, spoke with a simple smile, and walked quickly to the bottom of the stairs, going down the stairs two at a time. “Come with me.” His firm voice sounded through the corridors, as he opened the door and entered the room. I followed him slowly, watching the hallway windows, trying to figure out where I was. I entered the room. It was a dark-colored office with antique furniture but in perfect condition. The alpha was sitting in the black leather chair behind the desk, and made a nod for me to close the door, which I did hesitantly. I didn't want to be trapped and alone in a place with an unknown man, but I didn't have much choice. "You didn't tell me your name." He spoke slowly, keeping his eyes fixed on mine. I wish I could read his mind and understand what he was thinking. Because I had already concluded that it would be impossible to read his actions. "Luna." I said it in a nutshell. I wouldn't let myself be taken in by his little games. He wouldn't fool me like the other onde did. The man frowned slightly and I already knew why “You… were Luna from a pack? Why are they looking for you?" He asked and I hesitated to answer. I felt that he eradicated tension and it made me afraid. Fear of him exploding at any moment. "No." I said dryly. The man wasn't the first to ask me that question. But I had no patience or desire to explain. "My name is Lucifer." He spoke after a few seconds, and pointed to me to sit in a chair, but I ignored him. "I'm the alpha of the Moon's Pack." He continued, getting up and walking over to me, but I took three steps in the opposite direction to him. "I want to leave," I said without even realizing it. The words simply flew from my mouth, and I noticed Lucifer's body tense even more. "We do have a lot to talk about... Luna," he said slowly, taking more steps toward me. But this time I kept myself in place. "I'll take you to a nursing check, and then we'll talk about it, alright?" He continued but I automatically shook my head. "I don't need to go to the nurse, I'm fine," I said quickly, shaking my head. "Your heart is still weak and I'm pretty sure sleeping for three days isn't very safe for your health." He spoke in an almost ironic tone, but I kept shaking my head. "We'll go later... I need... I want to get out of here." I said a little nervously, trying to understand myself with the words welling up in my mind and failing miserably "OK. Want to talk first? Alright for me. Who are you? Who are you running from? Where are you running to? And why the hell do you have white fur?" He spoke quickly, raising his tone with each question, making my heart beat faster and faster. “I don't… I—” I said running over the words "You what? Who are you?" He said indignantly. “Why is your fur white? Why do they want you?" He asked again and I felt my mind fry inside my head. "I don't know." I said unable to make eye contact with him. “What do you mean you don't know, Luna? Answer me! Who are you?" He asked getting closer, making me take a few more steps back until my back hit the wall. "Stop it," I said in a shaky voice. "Why do they want you!" He asked in an almost scream. I put my hands on my still-wet hair in despair, trying to stop myself from screaming. He was talking so loudly that my ears hurt. "Please," I muttered to myself. "LUNA!" “STOP!” I screamed and pushed him as hard as I could away from me, causing him to take long steps back and almost fall onto the wooden table behind him. My hands shook as I watched the angry man in front of me. I could see in his eyes that he didn't know how to react because he didn't expect it. I immediately bowed my head in fear of what he would do in rematch for my tornado of fury and waited to see what would happen. Lucifer stood and straightened. He swallowed hard and I noticed his pressed jaw. He took a deep breath and took two steps toward me. "No.." He stopped when the word came out shaky, almost like a whisper, from my lips. "Luna..." he said softly, giving me a little courage to look at him. His eyes showed something I could not identify. Maybe it was pity. "Do you not want to tell me?" He asked slowly, although he already knew the answer. I shook my head quickly as he took two more steps toward me. "Fine." He said calmly. He took a few more steps until he was in front of me. "I don't know who you're running away from but we are making a deal, okay?" He asked and I frowned "I let you stay here, give you food and protection... and you go with me to the Oracle." He said quietly. "I don't want to go to the oracle with you." I said quietly, barely audible "I need to know who you are, Luna." He spoke almost with a pleading tone. "And I need to get out of here." I said shaking my head. “I don't… I can't stay here long--” "You slept for three days, you need to rest, you can't run anymore." He said frowning, slightly irritated. "I--" Before I could finish my words, the office door swung open causing the noise to echo through the office. Our eyes flicked to the door. A man, the same one who had spoken to me in the woods, was standing still. His expression was irritated but at the same time with a slight shock. He seemed to have run on the stairs since his heart was racing and his breathing was uneven. "Charles, I'm busy." Lucifer said to the man, but he ignored him and stepped forward. “Hayle is here.” The words came out of the man's mouth and my heart stopped.
